I have the same setup, with a pair of mini desk mounts. I only wish the stick had one more hat or d-pad switch. As for the throttle, Id like the dials to be analog and not count as buttons.
Don't know how I missed this video, but there was too much play on my Flight Deck stick, so I decided to look into a new setup. I had already ordered these, but some of the items like the desk mounts for both stick/base and throttle are back order, so I'll have to wait. I also bought one of their panels for even more buttons. I won't let the Flight Deck go to waste and use it as another set of buttons. Hopefully, FS will allow all these peripherals in the sim.
I Got a two stick setup so I can use it for most flight and space games and the configuring really does take a while. I can't say I was ready for that when I got it but I do appreciate what you can do with it once you learn it all. I still don't quite know what my final setup will be. Currently I made the left stick a throttle, by removing the centering spring for the pitch and turning on the dampeners on the CM3 Base. It was really easy to do :D Still I think I might wanna put it all back and change it to be up and down instead of throttle as it has been recommended for space sims, throttle could just as easily be put on a scroll wheel or something ells. Or I might mess about with foot pedals. I'd say the hardest thing is knowing what does what and setting it up consistently in most or all games. I really wish I could rename the inputs tho, so when I bind a key it will say "joystick trigger 1" instead of just "Button 4" but it might be a limitation of windows really. Gear is solid as a rock, gonna let my kids inherit them one day. So I'm not in a hurry to learn it all as it gets a bit daunting. I do recommend simpler flightsims or arcade games to start of with. Games with more game in them, and less controls, as you learn how to do everything. Brew Barons is a treat, with just the right complexity to start off with for me. I think Everspace 2 is another good one :D I tried setting it up for Warthunder but just the amount of controls made my head hurt. I don't even think my keyboard has enough buttons for that one should I wanna bind everything lol. Still tho, bind what you need, not what you can! Experiment, experience and enhance :D See you in the skys!
I have been looking at this for Star Citizen, since my preference would be HOTAS even though most people tells me to really go HOSAS. With the right Stick you get the usual up, left, down and right as well as the yaw (replacing mouse and Q and E keys). When it comes to W and S you get to use the throttle, but the only missing are A and D which is the Strafe Right and Left. Do you have a solution for this?
@@Huddison yea that's my idea I love my virpil I use it for DCS, IL-2& Falcon BMS. But since playing MSFS I want to try a yoke ! It's strange I found myself using my brother's saitek thirty quadrant over my virpil cm3 throttle.. not sure if I'm going mad but I kind of prefer when flying my cessna or piper
What i would like to know please is, can you use the hotas throttle in your right hand? I have the same warbird base but with a left-hand stick so getting a throttle hotas to work with the right-hand is a problem. It would be great if its easy with the right-hand.
Not absolutely definite: In terms of configurable options & settings for your Throttle and stick control, nothing I've tried yet beats the Virpil setup. The Flightdeck is near half the price and as of yet, we haven't really been able to properly utilise the touchscreen - that is quite unique to the Flightdeck.
I have Virpil Stick and Winwing Throttle and I can say they are at least on par if not Winwing better because the stick is Mongoose and it's plasticky and poorly executet so I had to "upgrade it" to bring it to the thickness of the Alpha grips... however the buttons on Virpil stick can't be redeemed and they are bad as heck. I can say they are on par because the WarBRD base is rock solid and the "idea" behind the stick grip was good but poorly executed and the Alpha is way better (I know because "I touched one from a friend" :D :D :D
I bought the exact juystick but i cant get the buttons to work on that program lol. Lucky its for helecopters so i only wanted to set up trim buttons. Im a noob for good hardware tho. My collective is perfect
I am just about to get rid of my 4 month of Virpil throttle and Prime Joystick because it is not a patch on the WinWing Throttle and F15E Joysticks I now use all the time. The programming software for Virpil is just ridiculous.
I managed to pick up a Winwing Orion 2 joystick & F18 throttle with detent addon for £335 off eBay last year, absolutely love them they are top quality

I love my Virpil gear. I have been building up a set over the last year, just finishing my Delta-grip omni throttle.
Fantastic! I'm looking to expand on my set too.

WinWing is a close if not tied with Virpil I actually have a combination of both and happy with both.
Thanks for sharing.
I’ve had Virpil stuff for the last few years, great stuff for the most part, but I hope to be moving to a VPForce Rhino FFB by the end of the year.

You could use a couple of the many buttons on the grip/stick for those purposes.
Virpil is very popular to use in SC.
I have this setup and just got into MSFS. I want a try a yoke will the honeycomb alpha give me the same smooth control ?
The honeycomb Yokes are excellent and very smooth, with a good resistance feeling. I prefer them when flying GA aircraft.

I gave it ago, I didn't like the resistance on the pitch axis and the button layout. The good news is virpil will be realising a yoke 🎉🎉
after lots of trial and error- Virpil😃

I don't see why you couldn't use the throttle with your right hand; I'm sure there are a good few that do.
@@Huddison Ok, thank you
Does this work well with Fenix?
I don't yet own the Fenix, but it works well in other aircraft I've tested it with.
Seems to match the airbus well.
I purchased the same equipment but it is back order. Waiting impatiently. The programming should be a breeze with SPAD.Next.
You will still need to go through VPC Config Tool to update firmware and calibrate. I'm sure you'll be getting yours soon.
Hi Huddison, so this is a definite winner over flight deck?

The Flightdeck is near half the price and as of yet, we haven't really been able to properly utilise the touchscreen - that is quite unique to the Flightdeck.
The translation from stick to Sim seems a lot more fluid with the Virpil set though.
@@Huddison well I just bought the bundle so am £711 poorer in funds but hopefully richer in good times, look forward to your setup video. Thankyou ;)
Congrats - be patient with it, it is an enthusiasts setup for sure.
i want something like this for xbox.....
Any discount code?
I wasn't supplied one, but they often have discounts running: virpil-controls.eu/

Do the buttons not register with the VPC Configuration Tool? I had the same issue, but found that I had the wrong grip selected under the profile.
They don't register, I will double check that, thanks.
That's all it was 😂😅😅 thanks buddy 😊
Fantastic!
Lol. Your title. You funny funny man.
Thanks

It takes a little of getting used to, but when you do, the VPC configuration Tool is amazing!
you have to do it only once
Did this dude just say War...thog, LOL
I didn't
James your spoilt now
I know ;)
