I spent my 20th in Turks and Caicos with my wife last September. Coming up in 21 next month and we’re stuck land side :( . I know some folks complain about the time lag of your content but I honestly find it refreshing to see new content that isn’t in the middle of COVID. Helps me look forward to better times. Thanks for sharing and happy belated anniversary!
I saw your boarding ladder on the railing and I recalled that I had a line tied onto it and dangling over the side as a JUST IN CASE. Just in case your alone and slip off the deck, you then just swim to the ladder, give the line a tug and it unfolds and you get back on board without having to holler, "OOPS HELP". Just some of the things you can do to make your life aboard safer.
You two are fun to watch as you discover the cruising world. We were once a green as you guys are. We sailed our O'day 25' with a 10 HP outboard, from Charleston, SC to Nassau and back thru the Abacos. My wife and I lived on our second boat (Endeavour 37') for 10 years. Most of that was spent in the Bahamas with several trips all the way back north to Lake Champlain northern NY. I wish we had the technology cruising boats have now (complete with Go-Pros and Drones). We did our video on VHS big tapes at a time when no-one had home video. We settled in the Norfolk, VA area as we sailed through many times and always felt good being here. We now have a 29 year old daughter and have gotten back into flying. We now own two aircraft (Cessna 170 and a Bonanza F33A). We flew the Bonanza to the Exumas for our 40th wedding anniversary. Keep posting your clips as we enjoy seeing and re-living cruising through your lens. Gary and Val of the SV Destiny.
@@symphonyfarm2009 Lake Champlain is a great place in the summer. However, it freezes solid in the winter and that's the time to be in the Bahamas. We used to land our Cessna 140 on the ice in winter and taxi to the McDonalds in Plattsburgh for a hot coffee. Love the lake, but...... we went from a 25' to a 37' and really enjoyed the cruising life for 10 years aboard.
This is probably the most inspirational video yet. It is an absolute dream of mine to get a boat and sail to the Bahamas with my family. The reason I asked in the past how you guys get income is because I need to figure out how to get there myself. Currently working on getting out of debt. After that will come a practice boat (17-28') to raise my son sailing, and then within the next 5-10 years I will get a big ol' boat like yours and sail out to sea.
I am glad ya’ll reached your goal of sailing to the Bahamas. My town just went through the hurricane, after several days they got our electricity turned back on and I am so thankful to have air conditioning, it gets too hot in Louisiana to live without it. The storm reminded me life is short, have fun, stay safe, get the heck out of wherever you are if they say a hurricane is coming. GOD bless ya’ll.
I teared up at your excitement over your sisters engagement! The excitement you displayed also shows the genuine love you have for your sister! Nice to see so much family love! ❤️
Another lovely video. Wonderful to see pre-Dorian images. Hopefully they are on their way to recovery. Thanks for turning me onto this wonderful album!! ❤️⛵️
Happy anniversary, and congratulations to your sister and new in law. Your camera work and editing get better and better. As to the sailing....I am so jealous! But in a good way. You kids have the time of your lives. Fair winds.
You should title this - “It’s all worth it” After the long river slog, re-stepping, re-rigging, the metal work disappointments and all the hard work the smiles on your faces in this episode we’re hard won and we’ll deserved. We’re a family of 4 under contract on a Tartan 37 and have so enjoyed watching ever episode, even the nerdy ones about batteries, sail design, windlass installations etc. We feel way more equipped to DIY improvements on our future boat and seeing the crystal clear Bahamian waters got us so excited to follow in your footsteps....errr follow in your wake. Thank you so much for sharing all of it from the gorgeous moments of cinematography to the tearful and frustrating ones. Keep up the great work.
Hey John, we almost made the title exactly that! Other contenders were: "THIS is Why We Did all that Boat Work" and "All the Hours in the Boatyard Led Us Here"... Either way, it's true, it was worth all the effort.
Sipping tea in my new Sailing Soulianis mug and enjoying every moment of this beautiful episode! My thought is you get there when you arrive. It’s all about the journey.
Great video guys, congratulations to your sister and new brother in law.Sailing is about kicking back, not rushing back and forth,I know it's hard not to rush when you have stuff to do.I guess you can ease into it as you learn to relax. Thanks for sharing🙂
Happy Anniversary to you both. I feel that you have both worked so hard to achieve your ultimate goals. But they are realistic ones as well. Continue to enjoy life to the full. Congratulations also to your sister and her partner. Thank you also for the link to the music to this one, I have purchased it to enjoy later.
Hey guys! It's Bryan, the guy that married your former college roommate, Melissa! We have been loving your videos. Melissa has watched the one on food about 20 times now. I just watched the episode where the storm was chasing you down. Really awesome stuff! It looks like you guys have had an absolute blast together. Keep the videos coming and congrats on the little one! Catch you on the next video!
Bryan! That’s so funny - I was just today wondering how you guys were doing! Glad you like the videos ☺️ We’re just heading back to FL this week, but when we’re back again it would be awesome to catch up. Give my love to Mel! -L
I love you guys. (That from a 74-year-old sometime-sailor.) It's great to see your world opening up. You have many more adventures awaiting you--keep sailing!
We didn’t decide to have kids till we were out cruising and thought it would be a wonderful life to share with a little one. About the same age as you guys...enjoy it as a couple and then get to re-experience through little eyes. :)
I have been following since you guys started. I'm so happy to see you guys finally collect the fruit of your work! It's been a long way and hard work from you too. Enjoy the Bahamas, well deserved!!!!
I flew to GTK after the hurricane to help with rebuilding/clean up . this GTK islanders are resilient. God keep those people safe this hurricane season.
Great work, I've been watching a lot of youtubers, that video ranks up there with the best! Great editing! Thanks for showing Soulianis on the lean, reminded me why I love sailing. Looking foward to the next episode.
Fun! Fun! Fun! It looks so beautiful there so much to see and do!! Congrats to your sister and future brother in law. You guys are Cheeky!! Stay Safe. Godspeed
Gorgeous footage guys and congrats on the anniversary. Ours (9th) wasn't spent anywhere as nice, but we could pretend that CV wasn't a thing in a cute little restaurant with a room all to ourselves. We would have swapped... Have fun, and congrats also to your sister 🌅
Congrats! You made it! Such a long road but you are sailing in paradise! (Bahamas are still on my bucket list, but I'm not complaining having chartered for 25 years up and down the BVI's, Windwards and Leewards). But Bahamas still look REALLY, REALLY NICE! Have fun! I'm sure mother nature chased you out of the Bahamas too soon.....
I have had no desire to cruise the Bahamas until I saw this video. The drone footage is amazing - you do such a great job at telling a story and capturing the beauty of the places you visit. Thank you 😊👍
When we were full time cruisers would often set sail, then once the boat was on a comfortable fast tack we would look at the chart to see where we were headed, sometimes it was a day away, other times 3 or 4 days away... hahaha
I love your camera work very cool. Your story is also very cool, You explained a lot tonight. Do what you want and we love watching you adventure! When sail we will get there we we get there and we will learn more then you getting there. Thanks

What a perfect video to watch - so relaxing and laid back. Nice area to visit. Congrats to sister and her new husband, and super sweet to have them on Soulianis with you. From New Brunswick, Canada on the Bay of Fundy. Come and visit me.
another quality episode! I know this was all done a while ago, but if you keep holding 'down' on the stick once it is over your hand, it will go into landing mode and drop back down to land on your hand and turn off. (tbh it might be worthwhile disabling the obstacle avoidance sensors since you're generally flying at higher altitude and in bright sun. Bright sun can confuse the obstacle sensors and they 'see' the sun as a blockage it can't get around - not great if it loses contact and goes into RTH while facing the sun and just sits there)
I know that we’re off by over a year, but... You can place a large zip tie on the drone, it makes it so much easier to make the first catch and prevent it from flying away from your hand. From there you can carefully work your hand up and grab it so the pilot can shut it down (or quickly turn it sideways to kills the engines)
The sound mixing is really good. I don't often get to listen to your final published audio through my much better set up with studio speakers in my upstairs studio. So... well done... and more, please.
