How man achieve hydrodynamic lubrication without full rotation of the crosshead?

Well, some sources say it starts of as boundary lubrication then goes to hydrodynamic lubrication and again goes to boundary lubrication , hence the cycle continues . So you are right its not purely hydrodynamic lubrication.
