      As exciting as the concept might be, writing "siRNAs (dsRNAs) are cleaved by an RNase called Dicer in the cytoplasm, and are transported to their cognate mRNAs as ssRNA, whereupon they bind and catalyse cleavage of mRNA via Argonaut and are subsequently degraded (due to the loss of 5' caps or poly-A tails, I would imagine)" is a lot easier to view in an animation as it is above.

      +spagetti001 you should study them, surely there is lots more to learn about kinesins. For instance did you know that they also carry the mitochrondria around the cell? For example in the neurons they carry the mitochondria to and from the synaptic cleft. Failure of this mechanism leads to severe mental problems :-(

      They also are a primary cause of spinal muscular atrophies. If they do not work properly, the cell cannot properly repair itself. CRAZY!

    This video is amazing! It's so rare that you find a bio animation that has really fancy animations, and also _isn't_ just a rehash of something that's already been done hundreds of times on RUclips before, like DNA replication or something. Thanks for making this so easy to understand!!! :D

      +NMMRSTT indeed.. but as far as i can imagine, making this kind of 3D animation must take absolutely huuuuge amount of time and effort

      @@DenysLazarenko Yup. It is too time consuming and too costly for anyone to do it, since there is no real economical benefit, and no foundation wants to fund such projects.
      Harvard were about to start a whole department for making science into 3D videos, but funding was cut due to being too expensive and "not enough use" of the material. They produced two amazing videos though....

    At 3:54, the cleaved mRNAs are degraded because they are missing a poly-A tail or 5'cap, respectively.

      but this modification is related to pre-mRNA , and here it's already modified , i know thats G-cap functions to protects mRNA from being digested by the RNases , but idk what's happened exactly here xD

    Very cool. Students are very lucky to have these visuals. Much easier to understand than a school text book. RUclips is more of a learning tool if used correctly.

    Brilliant visualization of the micro-processes inherent in most, if not all, eukaryotic cells. It can reach a lot more people to see spatially what occurs at a near molecular level inside the cell membranes. Bringing the abstract academic into the everyday experience.

    This is an amazingly structured and educational video. None of the other sites I visited made it easier for me to understand than this. However, one thing to consider is to show the complicated technical terms in text when used. That way, it's easier to look words up if you don't understand them. Oh and by the way, I liked the background music. It soothed me.

    Theoretically this method can be used for blocking rinoviruses to reproduce? I am not a specialist but ARN is the molecule that enables them to take control of the cells, and if can block a critical component to express than that can be a cure for a disease.

    @there4able The "walking" molecule is called kinesin. It's transporting a vesicle of some sort along a microtubule, which is that brown thread.

      Does the RISC cut the RNA? So that it stops translation? Or it prevents ribosomes from moving to continue the production of the protein
