The Strangest VR Game of the Year - Ancient Dungeon VR
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 23 дек 2024
- Ancient Dungeon VR looks like Minecraft VR and Runescape put together, but plays like Blade and Sorcery and Legendary Tales. It is truly the strangest VR game of the year. But it's a great indie VR game, which is super rare. Gamer Supps link here gamersupps.gg/... I thank you in advance. No clue if we will even get close but only one way to find out.

Props to Habie for making it this far on RUclips, you’ve really showed a lot of people that vr isn’t just a gimmick, congrats on the sponsor and merry Christmas
What about upisnotjump?
@@extremehyperventilation4377 fuck that guy. i'm not a 6 yr old who loves loud noises and being yelled at
@@BD-zg7is Well, I do enjoy Habie's more calm tallking voice. It sounds like me monologueing about something I personally care about or am emotionally invested in.
And yeah, while I did ask about upisnotjump, I am actually not a big fan of his! I reached him via Many A True Nerd! Who is just an amazing person to watch play games and give his opinion on them. His style is quite similar to habie, so I think I understand why I enjoy habie much, much more. But, I didn't expect an aggresive response to such a neutral question.
So, is habie the only person who has proved to many people thay VR is not a gimmick? I would like to think so, but then again, things are not always what they seem to be... So it was an innocent question really, sorry if I offended you
same i thought the entire vr scene since the 90s was a gimmick until I saw this vid
@@extremehyperventilation4377 That channel genuinely is (nOt) An AbSoLuTe NiGhTmArE! :D
Even though he has over half a million subscribers, he still remains humble and it feels like a really close knit small community of like minded people and the vibe on these videos is just great
I feel like a lot of people would easily let this get to their heads and just devolve into a click baity mess
@@ryanle1293 agreed, this channel just keeps the humble/chill style
I didn’t even realize that he has over half a million subs
@@Noxs_12 I know, I was surprised when I saw too
Habie: "I want to try killing him but I feel like if I do I'll unleash some unspeakable horror." Everyone who pissed off the vendor before: 👀
this applies to any rouge-like lol
It was an accident the first time I didn’t put my sword away and went to buy an item and the sword barely grazed him, but it was enough to unleash the demon that killed me so fast.
he gives a random power up after you kill him so i go out of my way to kill him cause in the demo he has never been that difficult
yea I tried, then I died, then I cried, the I pi-
yeah if ive learned anything from rouge-likes its "Dont fuck with the shop-keepers" lmao
This is one of the few games that the demo got me to buy the full game. I think half the reason it feels good is how it runs so smooth.
Same here. Gave you just enough yo see how good it was and want more.
Avorion was that game for me back when it was brand new with videos on the pre early access, soon to be release videos and the demo that I played... Ever since I never was so takes by a game's demo
Same thing cannot be said for vanilla minecraft
That in an age where demos basically don't exist anymore...
I’ve had the demo for this for a while. It’s actually super fun and interesting.
I thought everybody did
Buy the game. It's great. Also mods.
@@highlandstorm0137 I might actually now yeah. I didn’t realize that there were mods too. Thanks for the suggestion
@@sawyersprott there aren't loads of mods, but I'd say the game is worth it anyway. They'll be adding multiplayer sometime in the future. I don't think it'll be soon tho.
Edit: this fucking swipe-typing on mobile is just painful.
it really is, i played this back when it was still in gamelab
Another game you should try with a similar aesthetic that's more reminiscent to classic Wolfenstein/Doom is Compound--a vr fps roguelite. Its art style mixed with its different guns you get to unlock and try has now become one of my favorite vr games to play daily. So simple yet fun!
Compound is reallly good. When you get into the rhythm, it really makes you feel like a badass. The way you can juggle guns by leaving them hanging in the air makes for some really fluid/fun gameplay.
Yea I’ve been playing compound too, I’ve only been able to beat it on medium with the extra hands mutation though.
@@bruhbruhson8864 I've only managed to beat the game with people populace (more enemies but they have less hp) and damage amplifier (one shot = one kill)
Coulpiund is indeed a great game
Yeah, that one's high on my list.

Habie: " every time i get to the mushroom biome i have half a heart, there is no health anywhere"
*while walking straight past health and an upgrade*
i know right!?
You only get an upgrade you unlock the health with insight
This game was one of the first games I got on my Quest 2 (was in SideQuest at the time). If I’m not mistaken it was the FIRST game I played in VR. And yes! The uncanny valley level in this game is so real. After my first run, making it to the second level, and dying to one of the zombies there that blink to you… That made me take a break for a few hours…
That echo bit had me in STICHES!!! 😂
Me too dyingg
"Every time you die, you're dead" His wisdom is far beyond what I can comprehend
Ancient Dungeon is such a gem and I'm glad more people going to find it, hats off to Habie for showing people that VR can be more than a gimmick and actual games can be made. While also supporting indie games all the while!
I know ErThu, the dev, and hes really been passionate about this game and Ive even been involved once. Its always been super fun to play and great to see it getting attention!
Just a little advice to hopefully help you with future runs:
1. Take the time to read item(called relics) descriptions,(you can also do this from the menu and pointing at the list of relics you've picked up to get a little popup of each description) not only that, but before you pick them up, double check your menu to look at your stats and hearts so you can compare the before and after to better understand what their actual impact is. Some relics aren't helpful at all, some are legit dangerous to pick up.
Possibly the most important relics you can pick up are the one that lets you see the entire map, and the ones that let you get new relics or change the relics you find to new ones.
2. The dagger is your best friend. Throw it as much as you can, it'll always come back. You'll last MUCH longer than trying to melee everything.
3. Explore every room you can, and learn to recognize those "points of no return" in order to use the chance to check everything you might have missed up to that point. Once you learn to kill enemies safely, those rooms are just more opportunities to either find relics that will make you stronger, or get coins that can be used to purchase more relics that will make you stronger.
4. Make sure to check the board to the left of that researcher guy. It has options you can unlock by spending insight, and some of those options vastly improve the dungeon experience.
Or nah
I knew you would get a gamersupps partnership. I called that shit 11 days ago in your comments and I have never been a better fortune teller than now.
I’ve legit played this for 3 hours straight and loved every moment of it. This, paired with Spotify. Game changer
Wow 3 hours!
Why Spotify exactly? Just vibing or is there no in-game music?
@@adufresne1 there’s definitely in game sounds and generic music. But having like doom on. Magic. That and some edp. Relaxing while dungeon crawling
@@GamingGerry edp?
Eww 🤢 spotify
I've been waiting for Habie to review this game! Easily one of my favorites and if anyone asked for a game to play, this is the game that I would tell them. Thanks for being my favorite content creator Habie and an amazing source of entertainment. Hope everyone's Christmas is amazing.
Been playing Ancient Dungeon since its early access days on SideQuest! Its such a fun little rogue-like game. I try to recommend both it and CompoundVR to people who want a good Rogue-Lite experience in VR.
Ancient dungeon being the "sword/medieval" one, Compound being a shooter.
Its awesome seeing you get that gamersupps code, I just put my order in with your code!
Hey habie, Just wanted to say that you have literally been the only reason I smile anymore, I know thats a little weird, But you really mean the world to me
Holy im glad you played this. I bough this game over a year ago and its my favourite game ever!
I freaking love the zombies in this game. Not only are they creepy when life-size, they actually react to being hit in a satisfying way.
habie gives me the same energy as that one video where some guy has a hardboiled egg fit perfectly in a little creme brulee cup and when he jiggles it it makes a bwububububub sound and hes just laughing at it by himself
game looks awesome tho, def keeping it in mind for if and when i get vr.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, habie! You're my favorite find of the year! Hope you have a good 2023, take care!
Had to come back and watch this one again after the announcement for PSVR 2. We're eating so good this December with Resi 4 remake, Vertigo 2, and this.
I wasn’t really expecting habie to cover this game
Habie after all those years from starting out in the skyrim sub I'm still watching all your vids. You're such a genuine treasure to the vr community, thanks for doing what you do. Happy holidays! You deserve every praise and every smooth brain that asks for shaming.
Not only do you constantly deliver interesting and useful content, but you also genuinely make me laugh all the time. Thank you so much for your vids
10/10 Habie video. They all are though. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Habie you are one of the few sources of good, funny, and clean content anymore. I love this channel keep it up my guy
Played this back in the beta, and it is such a good game, when I played there were 3 levels; The normal level, The bloody place, and the library. The game gets constant updates, and has so much content already, and the coolest part is that even back in beta, there was so much you could do, there was mods (one of the coolest mods i saw was a contracts mod in which you got gold for doing things in the dungeon like killing five zombies), people were speedrunning the game back in beta (and i really wish i took part in it.) ErThu is genuinely such a great game dev, he actively gives announcement for the updates coming in the discord. And on the topic of cool updates, the newest update coming is multiplayer. I cannot wait for that. Whether you have a VR headset or not, give ErThu your money. He deserves it.
This remains my favorite VR game. Ever since I played it’s free early access. It reminds me of so many fantasy tales.
You got me yelping out loud with the echo in premiere bit 🤣🤣
I've played this game for awhile and I think that it's probably one of my favorite VR games
3:30 That is so much better than actually putting the effect there
I love this game, regardless of how terrified of it I am, and I’m so glad you got to love it as well
I have the same feelings for this masterpiece
if you kill the merchant he triggers a boss fight, learned that the hard way
I'm so SO happy that this game is getting recognition it deserves. I'd been playing this game for god knows how long and it's just awesome, can't find many games like it and it's one of the few games that keep me on VR
Hello! Game reviewer here, this game is a masterpiece. I won't spoil much, but its amazing. The art style is perfect and the gameplay is great. This game has scared me more than FNAF VR has, and that's meant to be horror game. The ending is amazing and the boss is surprisingly satisfying to beat, and the powers you get on the way is top notch. The audio is just downright great and the entire game feels polished.
(Also, the power up he obtained and doesn't know what it is, its that it turned his sword green is a power up where the sword grows every second increasing the damage, but it shrinks to a small sword every time you hit something)
I am so glad you found this, it really needs more attention!
THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME! EVERY TIME I THINK ABOUT GETTING A GAME, HABIE RELEASES IT
Seen a million Gamer Supps ads and never even considered buying it myself but saw your call out and immediately went and bought some.
The power
I'm glad you made a video on this game! I've been watching it since it was in beta and I'm so excited to see more. It was the last game I streamed on my channel, and it was super fun!
I recommended this to him via discord months ago, even offered to buy it. Never got a response.
"This is unintentionally, the most scariest game ive ever played"
that made me buy it
want a jet powered surfboard while swinging like spiderman onto shadow of the colossus sized monsters while shooting them with a megaman blaster? try out Jet Island
This game is absolutely fantastic it gets better the longer you play i also struggled to get to the infested dungeon at first and now i get to the final boss almost every time i play and i beat it half the time. It's amazing to get further in the game as your skill develops
You should play Compound.
Its a game with similar graphics to this, it is a rouge like shooter with bosses and floors you have to clear!
And it was released on steam fully a few months ago
merry christmas habie, i slept in late so i couldnt make the stream sadly, but you are my favorite content creator of all time, i hope your christmas is beyond amazing.
It's a really great game and one of the first VR games I played when it was free on sidequest with only one dungeon level. Despite the very cartoony and pixelated graphics the game does hold a creepy vibe of you being alone in a dungeon full of monsters. When you play through it for hours you really start feeling very isolated and lonely. You start talking to yourself to fill up the insane silence broken only by the ambient nooses and monsters.
Very great game. Very climatic. I've never had a VR game give me an experience like that before.
I've literally watched all your vids and exhale sharply through my nostrils every time I see you on my feed. Thank you for making even the worst days a little bit better Habie.
as someone who has almost 100% the game , I can say that you are missing out, after beating the beast you unlock the crossbow and dagger, which can also be called rocket launcher and smol sword, it makes the game so much easier and it makes the sword and knife feel obsolete.
As someone who started playing this game about a year and a half ago when it had barely any traction, it’s exactly the type of roguelite dungeon crawler I wanted. It’s SO GOOD, anyone who had doubts about this game before can’t after this video.
FINALLY you played this, I've been a HUGE fan of it for a very long time now.
I’ve been waiting for you to review this game for a long time! Nice to see you enjoy it
THANK YOU FOR PLAYING THIS GAME, IVE LOVED IT SO MUCH
The aesthetics of this game are fantastic- I would love to see a fully-fledged open world minecraft like game in this style, with dungeon exploration and crafting being a significant part of gameplay
there is another game called compound that looks like this with abit more of a 80s vibe
its all guns so not a sword
I watch all the videos all the way through because of all the hilariously genuine commentary you make throughout.
You even set up a joke throughout the whole video just to deliver at the end at like 9:10, amazing. Please don't leave us.
im glad that this game is getting more attention. this is great!
Been thinking of trying gamer supps for ages, but loving your vids and knowing it will help you out has final pushed me to putting an order in. Good luck with brain polish, I hope it gets though and helps to make many more smooth brains!
the fact that this is in early access blows my mind, the amount of stuff in this game that would be in a fully finished game is crazy. climbing, detecting the speed you swing your sword, grass being cut at the angle you cut it at. can't wait to see what this game will look like when it's finished. Also imagine co-op in this game.
Oh man I'm so glad you've finally played Ancient Dungeon! I think I commented about this like, six or more months ago, I'm just glad you've gotten to try it now! hands down the best feeling throwing in a VR game.
I somehow always manage to forget you exist during the week but come the weekend a video of yours finds its way into my feed to make me smile. Merry Christmas Habbie, you beautiful stranger and thank you for the past year of laughs.
I’ve genuinely been here for 2 years and your stuff is amazing
I love this game not only because it's a really good dungeon crawler (my favorite genre) in vr, but also because it's one of few games I own that has haptic suit support. And I love my haptic suit
I played this on my quest 1 from sidequest in very early development, it was super fun even if there was only 1.5 floors at the time. I've always loved roguelike games and it hurt me a little you described every aspect of them separately -The items you skimmed over -Losing everything when you die -Dungeon progression -Replayably fun deaths.
Ive had this game in the corner of my eye a long time. Glad it got recognition from you
I was looking at this game yesterday and it looked really awesome. Glad my favorite VR RUclipsr has the same taste
I just bought this game today, because it was on the steam sale. I tried it and i loved it so far, and now just 8 hours after buying I got your video recommended :)
With all of my heart i say thank you for showing this small underrated indie game to the world
I've been waiting for you to review this game! I can't wait to see you play this with your friends in 2023
I absolutely love this game, I have so many hours clocked into the Binding of Isaac, and when I first saw this a while back I instantly got it for my quest 2. Glad to see lots of others are getting to it as well!
I went and bought this game right after watching this.
The game is incredible, atmospheric, difficult and so damn replayable. I just made it through level 3 for the first time and I really wish you’d make another video on this game just to appreciate the boss fight for it. Thanks for putting me on to this insanely good game
This game and Compound are probably the best casual experience in VR and also the two most complete in that respect, which reminds me. Habie-kun can we's gets da Compound vidya
Habie always manages to find the strangest, yet most interesting and entertaining VR games of all time. Merry Christmas to Habie and all!
Glad to see someone make a video on this game, I felt like it was a hidden gem when I started playing it a year ago
Just ordered my gamersupps with code habie, good luck chief i love you and your content, hope you get ur own flavor
honestly best feature of the game is killing the shop keeper and he turns into a boss lmao
"Brain polish" sounds amazing
I'm glad you're enjoying the memes! You're my favorite creator!
First got this when it was in demo (sidequest) and remembered when I saw it was fully released on steam. Couldn't tell you a faster purchase I did not regret. The only pain is completing NG+++, that's an unforgiving challenge. Can't wait for multiplayer support in 2023!
This game was a pleasant surprise for me. When I finally beat the boss and looped, I felt like an unstoppable God. You can get so OP
Dope ive been waiting to see a well executed rogue like in VR :D Great video!
It's all about flow and interactivity. Graphics at the end of the day don't matter, despite how satisfying they can be on their own. This is a good game.
Man your videos are so charming. Loved this one.
Finally, someone big enough to cover one my of my favorite vr games
So I just bought and played this game. For anyone on the fence, just do yourself a favor and get this game. I took it slow and managed to get through with half a heart left on my first run, and it has to have been my favorite single player vr experience yet! It's hard, but not too hard. VERY intuitive and you can basically just start playing right away and don't have to "waste" time learning too many mechanics. Despite its appearance (which has a real charm when you experience it for yourself) it has very little jank and has buttery smooth ganeplay and even boss battles that are fair and challenging. Buy it!!
Absolutely love your content my dude. Just make sure that before you enter any contract with a sponsor, you have someone look over it. There are plenty of people out there looking to abuse the good nature of others. In the meantime, I'll be here trying to iron the folds out of my brain.
I bought this the other day and this game has quickly become my favorite in my library and my favorite roguelike in general out of the(admittedly few) I've played
The Premiere joke was unexpected and hilarious. Another great video!
Just wanted to stop in and say the first video I watched of yours was the Russian roulette vid, and ever since then i've watched every one. It's awesome to see you get better at making videos, definitely been my favorite for a while
I love how he describes a Rogue-like game like it's a brand new thing lmao
3:23 you need to put studio reverb on the entire audio track through the Audio Track Mixer.
Have you tried Compound? It looks quite good, it's a roguelike, apparently.
I was so disappointed when he didn't attack the shop keeper. For everyone who has, has had an experience to say the least.
I woke up for this, watched all the way through, and then immediately went back to sleep. I thought i was going to have a productive day, then i woke up at 1 pm. Thank you for giving me a chance habie.
VR Rogue-like is actually a really cool idea. H3VR does it with guns and the like but this is exactly the type of stuff I want to see come from VR.
Merry Christmas!
"HELLO... nevermind I don't actually know how to do this." 3:23
Favorite line of the video so far
"Nevemind I don't actually know how to do this!" had me rolling 🤣
This game is one of my favorites for VR! I really hope they add in co-op dungeons in the future even if it's just a second person.
