Thank you Chuck! I have taking failure in a painting to a degree of depression that takes me a long time to get through...thinking I'm alone in this frustration. It is refreshing to know that I'm not. Thank you again for honest teaching. The finished product is superb.
It's great that you own up to the struggle, I so appreciate that. It makes me feel not so bad when I get frustrated over things going wrong for me and I feel like I'm the only clutz around. The atmosphere of peace in this painting is full on. Thank you.
Thank you so much for the honesty of this video! It really does help to know I'm not the only one repainting after hours of work. It can be so frustrating. This is beautiful by the way!
I highly respect you as an artist. I'm a highly advanced artist but I. Learn so much from you every time. You're my favorite to watch and am very excited evey time I see your new works
I think this painting ended up being one of your best! Certainly one of my favorites. This video is also one of my favorites. Watching you deliberate, adjust, and come to final decisions on the painting was fascinating and very instructive. Thanks again for sharing Chuck!
Dang man, I love your honesty. It really helps, I have junked so many paintings so it's nice to know that even the best have a struggle now and then. I love this painting, you're very talented and again Thank you for these videos.
Omg thanks for sharing that wonderful way of fixing your painting! You are SO right, we don't see that very often and we can learn SO much from that! I did right now thanks to you👍👌🏽 And the feeling of peace in your painting is stunning!
THANK YOU!!! I really like & can follow your instructions! I really like that you narate through your process... so many others just paint with music. As a newbie.... THANK YOU!!!
Super cool! I've been waiting patiently for this. It turned out super wonderful, just as alway. I love it your way. It's late now so I'm going to watch the video tomorrow. I want to do this; I can't way to watch. I hope I can sleep.. I'm sure I can find it. I can. I'm sure. I can just click your name if all else fails. I will find you here tomorrow. Good night. Thank you again and again. A true artist.
Amazingly good Chuck, your talent is superb. However, your mental concentration is amazing I had to watch you to the end. You very nearly exhausted me . Sincere congratulations and thank you for a great lesson.
Its amazing I love how you strove to capture all the different colours the ridges and trees have when the sunset is at its best. Thanks for making another great video! :)
Chuck, you are SO spot on, with your comments, at the beginning of this video. It is really important, to so many, to be able to see that every painting doesn't always go peaches and cream...even for the very best artists. Honestly, I think it would have been an appreciated, and much watched, video, if you had uploaded the entire "gone wrong" portion of the painting, as a separate video. I must say, I do like the final painting better than the initial..."gone wrong"...beginning. The initial foreground wasn't complimenting the sky, or doing it justice...just my opinion :-| The final painting, though, is BEYOND BEAUTIFUL!!! It's like you can actually breathe the air there, and that huge rock formation is like a living entity that balances the painting perfectly! Chuck, please don't be apologetic or down on yourself, when a painting doesn't go as well as you want - just allow everyone to be a part of that process, like you did with this video. The shared frustrations are actually a valuable commodity that can be used to everyone's benefit, to better ourselves as artists, or, especially, aspiring artists - frustrations will come, and being able to relate to someone as phenomenal an artist as you are is of immense benefit. You're a real person that is an artist... Thank You for being willing to honestly share your frustrations and processes, and allowing everyone to be able to feel they can share in them, too, and for sharing your beautiful artwork and phenomenal tutorial commentary. The frustrations/starting over really paid off, in this painting - again, it is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!
Looking forward to your comments on water mixable oils. I use them sometimes and find them to be stiff and sticky. My “work around” is to add a few drops of the wm linseed oil into the piles I lay on my palette. The other mediums don’t work, only the linseed oil. Then, I can use the other mediums ,fast dry, etc, when applying to the canvas. I’d like to do more with them and can’t wait to see what you think!
Breathtakingly wonderful, thanks for your prompt response.throw us some more light on the complementary colours. This painting will be hung in our reception hall.thank you very much once again.regards and love .GKK
Your paintings are beautiful. You are so talented . could you share some techniques to protect the completed acrylic paintings from getting wet and ruined once finished?
hi chuck...l paint in acrlyic for my large paintings but use water based oil for smaller canvases (oil paints including water based are very expensive here ,acrylics are affordable)..its not that l dont like oils .Simply l live in a small apartment and oils are bad for my asthma...anyhow l love your work and have learned alot from your tutorials thank you
i finished my picture weekend .i did keep going over it get right colours mixing ..done my best with it as i am beginner .wish i could show it to you ..see what you think ..
oils are much more luminous and vibrant, they help me "show the light" more easily and help me create smoother blends at times. Both have advantages and I just like taking advantage of both.. Thanks!!!
Ciao sei bravissimo...molto di effetto sembra di guardare un tramonto 🌅 dal vivo.... Potresti mettere i sottotitoli in italiano dei colori che usi e che misceli insieme?... sarebbe bello grazie 😊
Stunning.Superb! You are a very talented artist..I learn so much from you, especially colour mixing and blendingDon't be hard on yourself. You are perfect.Thank you for showing us.👍👍👍
Your work and your channel is absolutely fantastic, you are an inspiration to me 😊 I hope my channel will be as good as yours one day. Keep up the good work I always look forward to seeing your videos

Do explain that when you switch to oils you have to completely change out your mediums, brushes and cleaners? That's important for us novices who think you can take a brush you were using with acrylics and dip it into oil and paint! Not going to happen!
You're amazing Chuck.!
Thank you Chuck! I have taking failure in a painting to a degree of depression that takes me a long time to get through...thinking I'm alone in this frustration. It is refreshing to know that I'm not. Thank you again for honest teaching.

Seriously, your tutorials are the most helpful ones, ever! If I'm struggling with a painting, what do I look for? A Chuck Black tutorial.

Oh my goodness! The sky's colors make so realistic effect! It looks like a real photograph. Amazing artwork!😍👏

Can you show how you spray the acrylic before applying oils and did this painting have oils over it?
