I know this video is 6 yrs old and I did this painting 2 yrs ago. But now, I'm gonna try it again with a bit more practice, and a bit more confidence and you are one of the best teachers, if not the best teacher that I have been following and id like to give you props in that. So thank you and hope to see more from you soon ❤❤❤❤
Thank you for being so generous with your knowledge and experience. You’re a real inspiration and an absolute legend. Have learnt so much from you. It’s appreciated.
I loved watching how the clouds developed from the initial blocking in. It gives me great encouragement because I have a tendency to self-talk that my paintings will never look good, its going to fail, when I'm just at the blocking in point. Sigh. Another great video, Chuck. Thank you. Looking forward to Part 2. Foregrounds are hard for me.
Linda Cook i struggle with that too, there was this lady who started pioneering artistic photographing back in the day. she was hugely successful but a lot of her photos had smudges, lens imperfections. but thats what made it hers and so successful!! its a process over time with painting, and theres no need to worry because its only finished when you say it is, everything can always be altered, im sure your art is lovely xxx
Hi Chuck, you are a genius in blending colours to get exactly the correct hue in this sunset scene. It's not easy to do without God-given talent!Watching you closely from start to finish leave me in awe!
THANK YOU, thank you, thank you......I was scared you weren't going to do anymore full length videos. Thank you......sunsets are my favorite. the colors are so vibrant. you did such an awesome job. can't wait for pt. 2.
Yet another beautiful painting Chuck. Your a fabulous teacher too. I like how you explain why we need colours in certain places to create depth. Also I've started to use more muted tones and it makes such a difference. Thank you for your time and expert knowledge!!!🥰
Love love love it,I'm so happy to see you put your whole self into your creations, now I think it will help me in my beginner's. Journey, Thanks for all you've taught me,awsome
Thank you so much Chuck for this tutorial!!! I love to paint sunsets however I have never attempted one. This tutorial you have done for us is amazing and I am so looking forward to trying this out, fingers crossed, of course not when I am paintin (lol). You are so patient and painstaking to achieve the result you do. You are an amazing artist and teacher, thank you again.
I like how you discuss the techniques going into the paint mixing. I agree that its just easier to paint in acrylic once you get a hang of the blending to work in the paint. Very nice work on the intense chroma. Thanks for sharing!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for sharing this video. I have been searching for weeks for such a detailed video on painting an Acrylic Sunset. But, aren't colors just amazing, though ?! With every color you added after painting - in the sun area, it made the sun's glow *POP OUT* that much more. Your finished painting looks like it's actually an electrified project. It is so very beautiful !!! Thank You bunches !!!
THIS WAS SO HELPFUL. My colors got muddled (the blending is what gave me trouble) and I hated the end result of my sunset. Thank you for making this video. I learned a few more tips for myself and figured out where I went wrong in my own painting. I went back to my painting and fixed it thank you! Also, your art is stunning!
Stunning!! Just started painting again after a 12 year hiatus and your videos have been so helpful in providing inspiration and guidance while I reunite with what I love. This will be the next one I try out. Thank you!!
Chuck, as always, this is gorgeous! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and passion with us. I have learned so much from you and am deeply grateful for these wonderful lessons.
I love watching your tutorials. I have learned so much from you. What you can put onto a canvas is just absolutely amazing . you are an amazing artist and im so glad i get to watch your tutorials and take lessons with you on youtube truly has changed my painting experience.
Beautiful; I love every minute of your creation. Thank you for sharing and teaching us so much. I'm looking forward to seeing the second part of the foreground and the oils added. Super cool! Thanks
Thank you I've been teaching myself how to paint! My sunsets needed clouds. Your a great teacher and artist. Keep doing what you do. You really inspired me to go further with my art.
Thank you for a very informative lesson. I have been trying to learn this technique on my own and failed many times. I am beginning to understand the concept after watching you paint this
Good morning Chuck, I love sunsets! Thanks so much for the video! This was such an inspiration. I truly admire you for what you do. I have a lot of respect for You and Acrylics! I paint with oils. It is very demanding but I love it. Looking forward to the next video. Blessings.
Have you ever tried air brush medium in place of the water? Use all you desire as it has the binder in it. It can be applied ahead of your washes as well as on your palette. Great clouds. Enjoyed it.
Hi Chuck, I am using the same palette as you. I watched that video and I love this palette. I also got the round blending brushes per your video last week and it has certainly improved my blending. I also agree with you on practicing color mixing and patients, with the latter being very important. I am finding I am taking my time and being patient has really helped my paintings and process. Thanks.
LOL, my painting looks NOTHING like this one! It's painfully obvious I need to spend a lot more time learning & practicing blending in order to get anywhere near the depth that shows in these clouds. I have no idea how you keep your brushes so light yet put down enough paint that you don't show the canvas below. After 2 or 3 dips my brushes become way overloaded with paint. Seems to be feast or famine when I apply!
Thanks Chuck! I am a huge fan of your work. Every painting you do puts more joy in the world. Thanks for sharing. While my skill level isn't ready for your paintings yet, I watch and learn. One day I'll try one of your lessons. Need lots more practice first!! :)
Magnificent. I have been a charcoal and graphite man for a while, but you inspire me to keep going in color. The first thing you have really helped me with is not to get discouraged at the first layers. My painting is very good for only the third attempt with acrylics. Thanks you so much sir!!
LOL, I was on my way to paint a Flamingo for my room and I got sidetracked :) I always learn from you so I thank you!! Want to paint a Flamingo next :) As I watch you I think my problem is I do not enjoy the journey as you seem to. I am in a hurry to get it done and I need to stop rushing and enjoy the trip.
Chuck, those jewel tones, in that sky, are gorgeous, and the tutorial element of this video is fantastic!!! It's amasing how you are able to concentrate on what you're doing, and explain it so well at the same time. That's a huge help, being able to hear you explain what you're doing as you're doing it! I would love to see you do a painting with your fingers/hands. That would be a tutorial to really study! Would you do the entire painting with just your fingers/hands, or would you use a small brush for the smaller details? Just wondering - I haven't seen you use black since the Red-wing Blackbirds painting, as best as I can remember, how are you liking not using it? Are you missing using it? Am looking forward to the second installment of this one!
Thanks Mark! I think I'm going to do the finger one at some point here. It would be a fun example!! Yes so I'll be touching on that in an upcoming video about the black. I do enjoy it yes, I think it has a purpose, but yes I'm loving it without too. Thanks always!!!
I'm looking forward to that finger painting tutorial, and am really interested to hear you touch on the black usage. I had about to begin using black, in some paintings, but really want to hear what you have to say about it, since you've moved away from it, for a while. It's only been on rare occasion that I've ever used it straight from the tube, so am really interested to hear what you have to say regarding it's usage.
I love love love your tutorials. I have started this one with oils. When is part two? I can hardly wait. Thank you so much for generosity with these videos. You have helped me improve my painting skills immensely.
Chuck Black hello Chuck am Yasmin from Ghana west Africa I watched one of you videos and you were teaching what kind of paints to avoid and the type to use well am interested in the paints you don't use anymore I want to start painting but struggling with buying paints..quess you can help a black sister out ..yasdanso@gmail.com, +233547002976
Chuck Black Art well they are absolutely stunning. I watch a lot of your tutorials and am learning so much ! I would love to see a fall sunset tutorial if you dont already have one... just a thought !
Did you ever wind up doing a landscape painting with just your fingers? I’ve watched quite a few of your videos, and I really enjoy them! I think it would be intriguing to see you paint something with your fingers. I typically only use 2-3 brushes for an entire piece myself.
I love this guy just for not saying"without further adieu".. everybody says the same damn thing and I was just waiting for it and he went with the" without further delay"high five bro oh yeah great painting
Thank you so much for such a great video. Great education techniques as well as inspiration. I paint with oils and this is a wonderful guide to try with oils. You are truly amazing. Great job and great personality. I wish you much success!
I've been working on your Country Autumn Road .. off and on for weeks. It won't in any way measure up to yours, but I have GOT to complete it. Love your work Chuck!
With fluorescent colors, actual silvers, golds, & coppers, do you ever use those for brilliant skies etc? Would it look too fake except on small highlights? I watched how you prepare your canvas, do you gesso layers just BEFORE you start, so it’s still wet? Will the next one say, “part 2”? As always, love your work and help!👏🏼👏🏼🎶👍🏼💕👏🏼👏🏼
A lot of information to remember. Most informative video about paint mixing. I'm just starting out but this video was the cats meow and just at the right time. I want to be able to mix colors on the fly too. The thing about a sun set it is My thing. I'm not a morning person. So iI shay away from a Sun rise as it seems to pull my energy away while a Sun sets give me energy back. As the old adage "Red sky of morning sailors take warning Red sky of Evening sailors Delight." However in a painting how can you tell if it is a Sun rise or a Sun set. By name only : "Looking West".
The brialliance of the sun comes thro like gold! Salutez you, Chuck! UNBELIEVABLE

THANK YOU, thank you, thank you......I was scared you weren't going to do anymore full length videos. Thank you......sunsets are my favorite. the colors are so vibrant. you did such an awesome job. can't wait for pt. 2.

Awesome to hear that it is working to use more muted colors, I really found that to be helpful myself. Anyways, Thanks again!!!

Absolutely gorgeous sunset. Loved seeing the layers and hearing you talk about blending the colors on your palette.
