G`day Steve, The planning stage can take a while.....I know mine took forever until eventually my wife said " Why don`t you just build it ?"........so I did. Cheers Gormo
G’ day Gormo. Another enjoyable video. I love how your layout background seamlessly blends into the backscene making the layout seem wider than it is. One advantage of your magnetic couplings is that you don’t need to push back your coaches to ensure correct coupling. You just need to get near enough like real locos do. I also like watching your trains and locos from a trainspotter’s (rail fan) viewpoint, like I did in my younger days, when I was a trainspotter in the North East of England. Great stuff! Best, Jason.
Nice to see elderly Lima and Hornby models running in your video. I also have and like the Lima three coach DMU and the Hornby Class 110. Not sure many of the current models will still be running in thirty years.
G`day Robert, Yes I think the new models are nowhere near as robust as the older ones. However the detail is better whilst at the same time being very delicate, so after 30 years of handling I`m sure they`ll lose a few bits. But that`s progress....or is it..???? Stay safe Cheers Gormo
¡Hola buenas tardes Gormo! Great little vlog. Impressed with the new camera angles and, I suspect a new box brownie? What are you using now? The depth of field and use of your back scenes at (time: 2.55) with the castle behind the shed area so realistic! I’ve recently been installing more back scenery and, slowly but surely, getting there. Take care, stay well. Un saludo. Gary
G`day Gary and thank you, It`s still use the same camera....Sony HDR PJ240 Handycam. It`s running on auto which will kick in Macro where necessary. I am using Lightworks to edit and this is making a considerable difference. Each scene/clip is sharpened by 20%. The image can be rotated to find level and can also be zoomed in to remove my stuff hanging on the wall. The result is a more concentrated view without the distractions on the wall. The software is the free version and therefore will only allow exports up to a maximum resolution of 720p, however I am content with the quality, so can`t grumble. There is a bit of a learning curve with it, but it`s reasonably intuitive. Stay safe Cheers Gormo
@@greatchesterfordjunction I may we’ll check out Lightworks, not heard of that before. At 720 it seems fine and not too huge a file to upload to YT either. Gary
Hi there, what manufacturer is that small prairie you showed in the video as I might have the same one and am wanting to know if it runs smoothly and properly? Pls lmk thanks Callum.
G`day Callum, It`s a Lima Prairie and it`s modified to run better. It has a CD motor and re-built pick ups on all six driving wheels. It runs a lot better now than it used to in it`s original configuration, Cheers Gormo
@@greatchesterfordjunction ah okay thanks was just wondering because I have the same model I think that is in the golden series set with 3 other carriages.
G`day Greg, Yes I built the turntable quite a few years back.......it`s a Dapol kit that has been motorized The build is covered over a few posts on the link below. platform1mrc.com/p1mrc/index.php?threads/great-chesterford-junction-part-one-pre-p1mrc.4951/page-3#post-79899 Cheers Gormo
