  • 25th and 26th March 2023 was Macclesfield Model Railway Group Exhibition which they celebrated their 50th Exhibition with 18 layouts on display at Tytherington School in Macclesfield.
    ALL Layouts which were in attendance are featured in this video (There won't be a part 2) but are listed below
    Carrowbeg (Ian Mulroy - OO Gauge)
    Irish Layout set between 1980s to 2010 featuring locos and units)
    Lymebrook Yard (Steve Farmer - N Gauge)
    Set in the 1970s to 1980s between Crewe and Newcastle-under-Lyme
    Bampton (Gary Hinson - OO Gauge)
    Layout set in the Black Country during the 1960s
    Parrot Hall (Kevin Pearson (Furness Model Railway Club) - OO Gauge)
    Fictitious south Manchester commuter station set in the late 70’s or 80’s depending on the rolling stock chosen. The line is modelled as closed for an engineer’s possession beyond the station, so all trains are terminating and returning to Manchester.
    Hermannsweg (Bill Roberts - HO Gauge)
    Eastern Germany's 1980s Layout and also a new Layout onto the Exhibition Scene
    Dunsfold Road (Steve Saxby ( Neepsend MRG ) - OO Gauge)
    Network SouthEast late 1980s layout
    Nairn Road (Kevin Pugh - OO Gauge)
    1980s Scottish depot layout
    Helston? (Dave Howson - OO Gauge)
    Layout set in Cornwall between 1953 - 1963 and is also a new layout on the Exhibition scene
    Deadmans Lane (Mick Bryant - OO Gauge)
    Section of the layout based around Derby with Derby RTC as the focus of the layout which is between Derby and Spondon, set between 2017 to 2020
    Blackbrook Halt (Gary Hinson - OO Gauge)
    Layout set in the Black Country based on the Windmill end Line
    Smethurst Junction (Hazel Grove MRC - OO Gauge)
    Layout set around North East of Manchester around the year 2000s of a terminus branch line
    Catsfield (Nick Pallet (Stafford MRC) - OO Gauge)
    Catsfield is set in the High Weald of East Sussex in the 1960s. It portrays the end of a rural branch line in its last days. The station was inspired by a combination of Hawkhurst and the Kent & East Sussex light railway.
    Moyston (Barrowmore MRG - P4 Gauge)
    One of the best-known Diesel & Electric era layouts on the current exhibition circuit and also a very popular with the visiting public at exhibitions. Set on the North Wales Main Line between Fflint and Prestatyn in the 1970s
    Glenties (Alastair Knox - OOn3 Gauge)
    Glenties was the final station on the Finn Valley branch of the County Donegal railway west from Stranorlar. It opened in 1895 and closed to regular traffic in December 1947 and finally to all traffic in March 1952
    Blueish TMD (Phil Mason (MMRG) - 3mm Scale)
    Small depot layout based on Reddish (Stockport) during the Woodhead era of British Rail
    Stumbleton Castle (Alsager Railway Association - OO Gauge)
    Stumbleton is a small town in the County of Duddon on The Mainland. Close by are extensive beaches and marshes where one can see Sodor on a clear day. A Thomas the Tank Engine layout for the children
    Stoke Doyle Goods (Mark Branson - OO9 Gauge)
    Stoke Doyle Goods represents a small halt and goods depot on the estate railway of Wadenhoe & Lilford Light Railway. Set in East Northamptonshire the line served the villages of Aldwincle, Wadenhoe, Pilton, Lilford, Stoke Doyle and Oundle.
    There was a 18th Layout named Junior Junction but wasn't filmed as it more of a BIRO Wooden layout.

    Lovely footage Simon, I particular like the Class 76 DC voltage. My dad rushed me around Greater Manchester to get the numbers before they were scrapped. (Showing my age now)

    I was running 'Smethurst Junction' layout by Hazel Grove that weekend. Was a good exhibition must say, pudding was the best food of course haha.

      Funny you mentioned that, I have been thinking about adding myself at the start of the video for a while after watching a RUclipsr from Australia. Great suggestion and I give it a go at the next event.
