I'm glad you made one of the baby related videos that I requested. I hope you can make it into a traveling with a baby/children in Japan series of videos, like booking a hotel for a family with a baby, commuting around Japan with a baby, sight seeing with a baby. Thank you very much. 😃
Yes yes! I need this series of videos too! Planning to go to Japan with my baby but don't know how to do it. I went to Japan many times when I don't have a kid and the stairs to climb at the train stations are tough already. Need a new perspective as a parent to navigate around Japan.
Honestly even for local Japanese parents, finding baby friendly restaurants are challenging. Limited space, commute is not always easy since not every subway station has elevators for strollers and public breastfeeding is taboo.
This is why I'm happy to live in a less urban area in Japan. Where I live at least (Mie Prefecture) we can pretty much bring kids anywhere without trouble. Wide sidewalks, kid-friendly restrooms, stroller/wheelchair ramps almost everywhere... It just seems like raising kids is way easier outside of the big cities.
Wow, this makes me gratefull to live in Denmark. Breastfeeding is accepted everywhere. Almost every restaurant have a changing table, and all restaurants (minus really fancy and expensive ones) accept babies.. I want to go to japan again soon, but maybe i should wait for my kids to be older..
@@apathyguy8338 Breastfeeding doesn't impact you in any way, other than potentially seeing a nipple if you really look for it. In progressive societies breast/nipples are getting desexualised which is hard to understand for many people.
Such a good video! In the states, there aren't apps that find bottle warming stations or diaper changing stations, which would actually be helpful in my opinion for mothers and fathers! Thanks for the video, Mr. De Guzman!
I’m loving all the videos about manners and etiquette in Japan. I’m not sure if it would warrant it’s own video, I think it’d be neat to learn about etiquette when eating sushi specifically, both at a sit down restaurant and a conveyor belt restaurant. Thanks as always for these amazing videos!
Appreciate this video especially now that I have a 4 month old. It looked easy, but I can tell it was likely super stressful for you to get all those shots and take care of a baby! Kudos
Thank you for sharing. We brought our 18 month old to Japan from Canada and visited Kansai, Kanazawa, and Tokyo within 12 days in 2019 to see the cherry blossom. It was hectic in terms of the time difference, but all the restaurants were really nice and let us brought him in (even the small boutique ones in Kyoto). I really hope I can bring my kids to Japan again when the right time comes! A memorable experience was going to the Ritz Tokyo for afternoon tea and they prepared kids toys for him, and the ryokan experience (the kids meal was better than ours lol). We find the best options for restaurants were the ones that are located in the department stores or the ones that have private dinning rooms.
Are your child tempered? We are going to Japan in just 2 weeks with 2 toddlers. Older one is very free spirited and loves to play and have fun. Seeing Japanese society is so quiet and reserved I'm quite worried of having trouble with her esp in restaurants - in southern europe we could get away with anything - running around barefoot, breaking stuff, chatting with other people, etc...
@@dzhiurgis my eldest boy is well tempered and my 2nd boy is quite active this time around when we went to Japan (last month). But he sat still during our meals in Japan (we try to entertain him with toys) while we eat. If your daughter likes to move around, I would suggest going to malls that have food courts or restaurants that are more spacious. Most of the chain stores have kids meal and may come with a toy so hopefully she will enjoy that. But like you mentioned, Japanese have somewhat lower tolerance of kids running around/being loud so we tried to be mindful of that. Good luck!
In the States every restaurant that isn’t a bar allows kids. Strollers are usually allowed in and we usually are given a kids chair. Usually all restaurants are very kid friendly, even having a kids menu
My wife and I went to Japan 5 years ago, I noticed that in some restaurants the English menus are not a direct translation of the Japanese menus, there are some items that are only available in the Japanese menu.
I went to a restaurant with friends and I really wanted omlet rice and fried chicken with my beer. They didn't have it on the adult menu but it was on the kids menu. Everyone stared at me and the waiter giggled at my order. I don't get why that is such a big deal. Why can't an adult eat off the kids menu particularly when they don't have the same items? It was actually better bc the sizing was perfect so that I didn't eat too much....
Aw he's getting so cute! Btw I'm not sure if it was just for the purposes of this video or because you are eating out but he looks ready to feed himself! Will be much easier on you guys too! :)
Wolfe is so well behaved! Our daughter is about the same age and is very noisy. It’s really interesting to see the differences between Japan and here (UK).
Even at young age they are learned how to behave properly, while in West they are allowed to do whatever they want as they are children. Big difference in parenting and culture.
My Daughter is half Japanese..(I am Australian) . My Japanese wife..is older than me.. she is very "strict" I understand all about Japanese culture... its not negative... actually I love it soooo much. I am proud to have a Japanese Daughter!!!
I understand it's to keep the kid sit still, but I wouldn't encourage to let the kids getting dependent on staring at the phone to be quiet. Just something to take note of.
At home, there are all the toys he wants, he doesn't need a screen. But *when you're on the go,* in public transport, carrying the baby bag, stroller, and the baby, *it's hard to carry toys for them to play.* And you probably have to carry at least 3 toys, in case he doesn't wanna play with the others. He also didn't spend all the time with the phone. You can see him playing with a bus toy. And in the video, you see only Wolfy eating, so the table is pretty empty. If the whole family eats, there wouldn't be space for toys on the table.
here in Czech republic most restaurants have kids chairs. But when it comes to expensive ones, you may not bring your child. But nobody usually even tells you that childs probably would be rude bringing in. So I would say it is pretty similar
the only reason my wife goes on Instagram is to see her daily updates with Woflie .... I can't tell you how many updates I have gotten on how he is going ...she found out she was pregnant with our last born the same time she found wolfie on youtube and she has been in love with your son since... I feel as if wolfie is now our 4th child ... Your son has caught the heart of our family all the way in Trinidad and Tobago.
Back in 2020, actor Ashton Kutcher petitioned for diaper changing stations in men’s restrooms. That would nice for fathers to have a place to change his baby.
You and Wolfy were fantastic in this video! Thanks for all the tips. Although I am not a parent it’s very surprising to see there are facilities just for changing and breast feeding. 🧐
Breastfeeding in public I wouldnt say is taboo here in Sweden (or, well, it depends I guess). But mostly its just fine, however I think some people who breastfeeds think of it as something embarassing and therefor may bring a cloth or whatever. But the breastfeeding moms I've been talking to just think of it as something natural and not challenging at all. I breastfed my son at a cafe and thought it would feel weird, but it was as casual as anything else.

Wow, Wolfie got so big in such a short amount of time, crazy.
Wonderful baby❤️

Wolfie seems very well developed for his age! His verbal acuity is really good for being in a bilingual household, too! Great parenting!
yeah and he watches the phone all day looooooool

The footage you’re seeing is only a short moment. Don’t judge people on that.
Agree, this just creates a dependency on electronic devices as they get older. Kids never had this 20 years ago, it’s unnecessary.
