- See the whole process of making bespoke boots. I show you how I made the pattern for the boot upper, sewing the upper and how I handwelted all leatherparts together.
Also I made the thread for welting from Ramie by hand.
Furthermore you can see me handlasting, making the heelstiffeners from vegtan leather and the toepuff.
The leather comes from the tannery Kobel in northern Germany
The insole leather comes from the tannery Martin, black forest Germany
The last comes from lastmaker Spenlé in Germany
If you also want an handmade, bespoke boot you can write me an email on for more information.

I'am happy if you like the video. If you have any questions, please comment and I will answer soon.
The process of creating something beautiful is truly so satisfying. That leather is incredible. Dennis watching you shape a pair of boots is epic. You truly are a gifted and self taught craftsman. 😊
That means a lot to me. Thank you Aj!
I am amazed that any real craftsman can earn a living these days. You’d have to make $96/hr to cover a living. That's a pair of boots sold from start to finish every 7 hours. That's a pair of boots per day. OMH!!
thats one of the best boot videos ive ever seen.....every single detail covered....I didnt look away.
Oh I feel honored. Thank you very much!
Nick I couldn't agree more with you.
Classic design done well, truly a fantastic boot made by a quality craftsman. 👍
Oh, thank you. These are kind words. Makes me feel honored!
Beautiful boots
I'm glad you like it. Thank you very much!

hats off - the amount of efforts, passion, attention to details and time is impressive.
Thank you very much.
Such clean work, Dennis. Well done again!
Oh, thanks so much. Really appreciate it. Hope you had a good time in NY.
Art that one can wear. Nice!
Very nice work. Relaxing to watch. I'm probably gonna use this as sleeping material on the restless nights....because it's relaxing, not boring. Here from Reddit btw.....thank you so much for posting ....keep up the good work.
Thank you too sir. Have a good sleep and thanks for the kind words.
Off the clock! Magic of the mind!

@@kustomkraftworkshop8593 am making some boots as we speak! The biggest issue I have where I live in the UK is getting good quality hardware! Speed hook's and eyelets etc! It's all garbage! It's frustrating as hell!
@@blackwingvisuals5017 in Germany as well. I have to order some stuff like Speedhooks in the US.
@@kustomkraftworkshop8593 good suppliers? Any suggestions?

Wunderbar handwerkskunst!
Vielen Dank!
Thank you very much. I don't know exactly the word in English but Marcel Mrsan has such similar on his webpage zegzug.
An absolute Masterpiece, just gorgeous boots. Just on an average, how many hours do you think a pair of these boots take you to make?
Thank you very much! I don't count the time exactly but I think it should be 40 to 50 hours. This includes the pattern making.
Yes it's more than 5mm. It's pit tanned leather from the black forest.
I need this but with a safety toe
Thank you very much. We can discuss this via email. mail@kustomkraft.de
thank you for making this video, its fun to watch! how does channeling of the insole help with the boot making process? Does it make it easier to stitch through?
You have to channel the insole in order to make a holdfast, the ridge he stitches the welt to.
It's definitely necessary for handwelting. Thank you for your kind words.
❤
Thank you!
@@kustomkraftworkshop8593 danke dir :)
Really great video! I'm curious where can I get that shoemakers square??
Thank you very much. I don't know exactly what you mean with square? Is it the table?
👍
Thank you!
Funny how it starts with a last.
Yes, or the last shall be the first ;)
#1. :)
❤️
It is truly lovely work. How much is a pair of boots? Do you also make bespoke last for clients that visit you in person?
Thank you for your comment. Starting price is 1000usd. And I would love to make a bespoke last!
I like your jacket, where'd you get it ?
Thank you very much. This is the kustom Kraft workwear jacket. It's tailor made and finished by me. If you want one, there is fabric for one more left. mail@kustomkraft.de
Great video, beautiful boots. What is the steel patter making tool called?
Pattern ruler. You can find it on zegzug.com
zegzug.com/products/professional-footwear-pattern-ruler-3-0?_pos=1&_sid=c75fd3fa4&_ss=r
Thank you so much
Sir if I'm not wrong so here you are sticking upper as well as insole with the welt right? If yes then what's the benefit of stitching insole as well, waiting for your reply sir 😊🙏🏻
This type of construction makes the boots very durable and easy to repair.
Pricing and how do i order ??!!?? Love them
The price starts at 1000usd depending on your choices. For ordering please send me an email. mail@kustomkraft.de
Thank you very much.
@@aaronminkenberg8386 sehr gerne.
Where do you get your lasts?
The lasts are from Spenlé in Germany.
How come such thick leather stays flush at the heel and toe section during the lasting process
When I do it I get lumps n curls at the two section and can’t seem to make it flat for the welt
Try to make bigger lumps and nail them down. It's a process.
@@kustomkraftworkshop8593 One more question regarding that. Do you nail the tacks down at the lowered section of the insole(where the welt strip eventually sits) OR nailed the tacks on the raised band section which is used to stitch the welt
Hi, I have the same lasts for me. I have a question: Is this last a true size when you put on the boot already made?
It comes pretty close because of the spacious toe box
@kustomkraftworkshop8593 thank you so much for your help 🙏🏼
Which glue are you using to cement the Midsole to the Welt?
I use contact cement orthofix 2000
Beautiful looking boots, love your technique. One caveat though, I don't know if it is the camera lense distortion but the right foot heels looks a little tilted compared with the other shoe.
Thank you very much.
Why were you sanding tape
I have more control with it for the last steps of sanding.
no website?
Not yet for boots but for bags. www.kustomkraft.de
The boots are customized every time and you can see more on instagram @kustomkraftworkshop. Thank you!
The heel looks just a lil too big "for my liking". Beautiful boot tho
Thanks for that. I appreciate it!

i once watched a shoemaker draw the pattern, he drew the model exactly on the last and then the shoe was beautifully proportioned exactly as it should be and as he wanted it to be. He told me that you can never work accurately with such a shoemaker's circle because the proportions are not exact. I actually think your finished shoes should be set lower in the derby because then the shoe looks nicer. what do you think of my criticism?
I think that there are many ways to do it. I feel more comfortable doing it this way. But I will give it of course another try because I change the pattern every time. There's no standart.
Dude, you need a sharper japanese skiving knife. That one's a safety hazard. I noticed your stropping angle at the beginning was way too steep, it should follow the angle of the blade which is preferably 10-15 degrees. If you're looking for a new one, ask a blacksmith or a knifemaker to make one out of RWL-34 or similar (powdered stainless steel). It will be worth it, trust me.
Thank you very much for this good advice my friend. Definitely I have to improve with that. And a new knife would be worth it for sure!
Beautiful job how long it’s take from start to finish
Thank you very much. Glad you like it. I didn't count the time but I think about 50 hours.
