You hit all the points right there! I've been saying for years that NASCAR games have been going downhill since the latter stages of the EASports era (06 onward). Yeah they've had some decent, and I stress DECENT, games since then, but they're not in the same zip code as the gold standard games, NASCAR Thunder 02-04, NASCAR Dirt To Daytona, and NASCAR Rumble. I have NASCAR Heat 5 (and no, I didn't waste my money on the DLC), and it can be fun at times, but it can be extremely frustrating too, like if you turn on full damage and you nose into the wall its pretty much insta-death or, if you make your competitors angry enough, they would rather try to wreck you instead of actually racing (not to mention the weird speed boost they get when they rivals, and other little things). I'm like you, I just want a game thats fun to play and not hampered by glitches and horrific gameplay! I hope they, meaning NASCAR, does away with the exclusive rights and opens things up, maybe then we'll get some quality NASCAR games again!
What if I told you, that currently, the best console oval racing game is GTA Online. Myself and other people I’ve met on GTA have built actual re-creations of real life NASCAR tracks. Some of which are pretty dang good if I do say so. And even other fantasy tracks that we built for fun. The racing can get intense and you can simulate pitting, but it is true that there is no tire wear, so that is one downside. Still, though with the way NASCAR gaming has been lately, I’ll take the league me and some friends made over there
It honestly wouldn't be hard for game developers to read some comments and see what the people really want, thunder should be a building block to base the game on, have the drivers get more involved, I don't get why nascar is such a hard game to make nowadays
If EA never got an exclusive deal we probably would have gotten NASCAR Heat 2004 or a Dirt to Daytona 2, and I think they would have gotten more licenses and eventually had all tracks, Monster Games clearly cared about making Dirt to Daytona a quality game, and they would have only gotten bigger and better.
I think the Papyrus NASCAR games were the best. I remember being addicted to Nascar Racing 2. I played that game to death! In fact, Nascar Racing 2003 season is still being used and mods are being put out today.

I'd love to see what Monster Games could do with iRacing providing resources. They made a great dirt racing game and iRacing helped with the physics before released.
Inside Line's online was very solid indeed. And as someone else pointed out, the tire/fuel management system for Inside Line was damn near perfect. My friends and I loved putting everything on x4 wear to see who could manage it the best.

Sports games need to follow the GTA model. Spend a couple of years to make a really good game and then give us quarterly or annual updates and spend the next 5-7 years making the next game have substantial upgrades and enhancements as the technology moves along. I’m still playing Heat 4 because I’m sick of buying crap nascar games. I got Heat 4 and was super annoyed with it and swore I wouldn’t buy another one until the reviews backed up the game being solid.
Don't have GTA, but don't forget to mention this: If you use the GTA model, avoid making the mistakes of Rockstar. And don't, and I say, don't remove content for "modernization."
Actually, the model to learn is Fire Pro Wrestling World - the same as you mentioned, but let/leave the community create the content. And this goes to all sportsball games tbh.
Hey you need to show this video to a guy named Michael Anthony Morgan man he swears heat 5 is the best game out there bro the guy is delirious. Constantly jumping from league to league seeking to be crowned a champ and as in his words getting screwed all the time. Nascar ignition was probably and is the best game they've came out with tbh.
>Heat 5 before Heat Evo in thumbnail That's not how it works chronologically. Also a very possible doomsday scenario at this point: NASCAR pulling the plug on console games (knowing how bad they are reception and sales wise) and announces lifetime exclusivity to iRacing while also pushing their AI racing feature (feel I need to say this because in every discouse regarding NASCAR gaming "just sub to iracing bro" pops up quickly). (Note: This comment was drafted before I knew iRacing was working on single player career mode. That would probably change things in their favor even more.)
When I play sports game I want an IN DEPTH franchise/career mode... this just simply doesn't happen anymore. I am still playing NT 2004 and Madden 08 on PS2 emulator. Also, for FPS games I still play Blops 2 on Plutonium client. I do not understand why these companies don't listen to their fans. I wish people would stop buying these games, there is really no reason to. Gaming culture has just evolved into loving getting shafted by these publishers. In my mind there are now 2 types of people.. those who love the way these companies D tastes and those who hate how these companies D feels...
I bought the NASCAR heat 5 dlc knowing the game is better than ignition I didn’t realize Motorsport games would destroy the ai just to add new cars it’s sad also as a newer NASCAR fan since 2015 the first NASCAR game I played was NASCAR heat evolution where you could span pause and win every race I’ve played the older NASCAR games they will probably always be better than new ones and exclusive licenses destroyed sports games madden and f1 keep getting worse games I want a new NASCAR game with a career where I can work my way up through many different cars and divisions I want in depth stats I want age to exist drivers to retire and I want ai generated drivers to come up I want to be able to retire and just be an owner with a four car team I want engine malfunctions tires to come off from loose lug nuts better ai pit a pit crew that can mess up I want the option to use unapproved parts on my cars I want a good game
I wish Eutechynx would come back. Sure, career mode was repetitive and the lack of AI skill spread led to clusterfuck races, but the games were way better than anything from the last few years.
Last one I've played is Heat 4, and at least it wasn't as comparatively bad as the dog shit game for NHRA from 2022. NHRA gets a new video game every 15-20 years. At that point its just taking whatever comes by. Seems like that's where we are with NASCAR as well, just a roughly annual release.
It’s sad because ignition has some good things to it, however the bugs don’t make up for it and so many glitches. That’s very bad. And I disagree, NASCAR inside line was an epic game. The iceberg and realradman have good takes.
Yeah. I don’t reward bad business. I’ve been boycotting madden since 2017. People need to quit buying it. It’ll force them to make it right and not try to make a buck off microtransactions
The only NASCAR games I played are the ones on the Nintendo Switch. I'd rather play those then suffer through 21 Ignition. Not to mention this stupid update for NASCAR Heat 5 is like a downgrade from the Rivals port.
And that’s why the Fanbase is as stupid as hell to beg EA/Codemasters to save the day. 1. They have to expand the staff in the studio 2. They’ll now have 3-4 projects each year 3. EA has closed studios by making drastic moves like this…
Im not joking when i say i bought mascar 15 14 and 13 and a whole ass xbox 360 all for 350$ also a whole ass pc nascar heat 5 ultimate edition and the 2022 update just so i can get mods and have 2023 cus the best nascar game since the nascar thunder days has been nascar heat 5 and that game came out 4 years ago honestly im not gonna buy nascar 25 until i see youtube videos cus i dont wanna waste 20$ and imma be real im 12 and i could probably make a better nascar game while blidfoled and eating and throwing up all at once then msg could
NASCAR 07 was the last great NASCAR game. I’ll say it’s better than 06 and 05. The ai is much harder, tire wear is much better than it should. The driving handling feels much better than the last two games, and it’s overall fun! I don’t buy games nowadays, hell I don’t own a PS3, or PS4 or PS5 for that matter, I’m not the biggest gamer, but when I am, I play only the best games on PS2.
>Heat 5 before Heat Evo in thumbnail
That's not how it works chronologically.
Can someone tell me how to play thunder 2004 ive been trying to find out for a few months now
When I play sports game I want an IN DEPTH franchise/career mode... this just simply doesn't happen anymore.
Good news Mike straw has reported that in september (i think) The Exclusive License with Motorsport games is ENDING
Why the hate on split screen? Split screen is awesome
As much as i agree with you i do not accept nascar 05 SLANDER
It's still a solid game but it was the beginning of the downfall for NASCAR games
@@Eliteprecision29nah NASCAR 08 was the beginning of the end for great NASCAR Console Games
I wish Eutechynx would come back. Sure, career mode was repetitive and the lack of AI skill spread led to clusterfuck races, but the games were way better than anything from the last few years.
I have hope but its slowly and painfully dieing
Inside Line was the last best Nascar game
Last one I've played is Heat 4, and at least it wasn't as comparatively bad as the dog shit game for NHRA from 2022. NHRA gets a new video game every 15-20 years. At that point its just taking whatever comes by. Seems like that's where we are with NASCAR as well, just a roughly annual release.
It’s sad because ignition has some good things to it, however the bugs don’t make up for it and so many glitches. That’s very bad. And I disagree, NASCAR inside line was an epic game. The iceberg and realradman have good takes.
Or if these games are bad but you still want them, better yet, *PIRATE THEM!*🏴☠️
Thanks for reminding NASCAR fans about the trolls 😈
Yeah. I don’t reward bad business. I’ve been boycotting madden since 2017. People need to quit buying it. It’ll force them to make it right and not try to make a buck off microtransactions
2004 is the greatest
NASCAR 15 was last good one
I hope MSG’s contract gets terminated
The only NASCAR games I played are the ones on the Nintendo Switch. I'd rather play those then suffer through 21 Ignition. Not to mention this stupid update for NASCAR Heat 5 is like a downgrade from the Rivals port.
I am telling you man ea is just like them on Madden football and NASCAR fans getting disappointed
And that’s why the Fanbase is as stupid as hell to beg EA/Codemasters to save the day.
1. They have to expand the staff in the studio
2. They’ll now have 3-4 projects each year
3. EA has closed studios by making drastic moves like this…
The only other alternatives other than the motorsport games (yuck), would be games like Forza Motorsport 7 and Gran Turismo (5 &6)
And NO NASCAR video games will not get any better.
At this point you guys need to let the nascar console games die, because at this it's your own fault for hyping yourself and being disappointed.
