What's the point of this conversion for Canadians who can only use five round mags anyways? Millions of American SKS owners have been wanting a conversion like this, though.
I had an sks And an skk Both fired 30round mags, beautiful looking firearms which made me feel safe and confident alone in the scrub hunting for days on end, then port Arthur happened and the Aussie government had a knee jerk reaction, decided to ban all semi automatic rifles, we had to surrender our arms. I no longer hunt or go way off the beaten track (drop bears, and yowies Wild dogs, dingos And boars can kill a man !!!) don't allow your government to do what it has done down here, take away a citizen's right to have fun!!!!!!!!!!??
@@stwhite5135 I am Canadian. I am willing to convert my standard SKS mag to specifically AK one, not crappy Tapco or any other AK_style SKS mags. So. My Canadian friend, hope you don't mind if I call you this way, did I, your Canadian dude, answered your Q?
How many rounds through so far? Any issues? Im concerned there may be some reliability or feeding issues if the mods arent just right. As for the 2 handed mag release, seven six two systems makes a nice ak style mag release for the sks that would make it like the sks-d.
Classic Firearms has a 35 round mag called the Archangel it fits my Yugo M59's great tried on my 53 Tula it will fit but it is a little tight. Even my original mag is snug taking out I was thinking of using fine sandpaper and lightly sanding around the areas where the mag sits.
9:00 is there a upgrade for the mag release? I known the regular sks's got the modification to make it the ak style mag release. What would it take to make the ak style mag release on that rifle? Ive been lookin for along time! lol thanks
I bought a Chinese Norinco the 90's that takes AK mags, it came that way new from the gun shop. It came with spike magazine. Lack of bolt hold open is annoying.
Right. That's pretty awesome. The SKS 2 AK conversions in the US require you to file down the mags a little. I'm going to contact Kodiak and see if they export a kit. Thanks!!!
ArimaKihe1 hahha well thanks for letting me know that. I'm completely happy with it stock but it would be nice to have a very functional conversion if i could swap it back if i wanted to.
Why would you wanna do this? It'd be understandable if it wasn't pinned to five rounds, but it is. Now you have to carry around mags with you instead of clips, not to mention the fact it really sticks off the rifle.
I bought 3 or 4 for under a hundred $ in the 90's Dont even remember. 1 or 2 still around... $500... but I like them still new in the box, and probably won't sell. In another decade... $1,000
wish i could buy one have it delivered to the united states. its better than the ban era sks D. i have a military type 56 norinco sks, but these are kinda cool in a way that it would feed ak mags better.
Maybe it's just me, but I fail to see the point of modifying a SKS to take a 30 round magazine you can only put 5 rounds in. It will never be an AK, it will never look like an AK. Leave it alone, it is a fine weapon exactly the way it was designed. IMHO I am just glad I don't live in Canada.
***** Yes that is pretty soon. Oh no! I dont want to think about the next 50 years because it will be filled with trans gendered people and the disarmament of all Canadians.
Up in Canada they be choppin' up Russian SKS's like it's nothing. Meanwhile, in USA they are so rare even a refurb with non-matching parts is going to cost you probably well over 700 bucks. But, I wouldn't trade the access to cheaper rifles for having to pin them to 5 rounds or use neutered mags. Meanwhile, in the USA we can put a 75 round drum on them if we want. "Murica Sorry for you Canadian gun owners, you deserve better. I hope you can manage to keep the rights you do have. It's always a constant battle with today's globalist anti-gun agenda.
Why would you waste your money on this I win the same amount or just a little bit more you could get a real SKSD they’re not rare they’re just a little expensive they’re only doing this because they’re paying $100-$200 a rifle and selling them for 799 it’s all about the money
That's about the nicest SKS I've ever seen and I wish I could buy one just like that!

Some people prefer mags to stripper clips.
What's the point of Canadians?
Maple syrup.

Great tech review. There is a lot to remember doing those and you hit on everything. Thanks
My question is: how did you put AK mag in if your SKS receiver does not have a mode to hold the front lip of AK mag? could you explain it, please.

The Bolt mod allows you to put in and take out mags while the bolt is closed.
Would the archangel stock fit this rifle? (given the magwell mods).

Hey man! Thanks for the upside down Bolt Holder/Carrier tip. I Always have a B#$% of a time trying to get those lined up, right side up.
I just have the normal version. Not sure I'd go modified
Do you think the spectre ballistics ak mag release would fit well on this?
So legit question what happens with yougoslave mags that have a stopper on the mag?

It’s the SRR ( super rapid release from TexasFirearms

They rembed the ledge on the bold so you can remove the mag with the bolt forward
Saludó desde la República Dominicana excelente vídeo
on my wish list gonna be a tuff search as I collect #'s matching sks's
Interesting. Do you have to modify the AK mags to fit the new modded' SKS?
The standard AK mags I had to test with it worked fine.
Right. That's pretty awesome. The SKS 2 AK conversions in the US require you to file down the mags a little. I'm going to contact Kodiak and see if they export a kit. Thanks!!!
ArimaKihe1 what did you find out ?
Not alot as I'm still waiting Lol
ArimaKihe1 hahha well thanks for letting me know that. I'm completely happy with it stock but it would be nice to have a very functional conversion if i could swap it back if i wanted to.
All you have to do to convert them is to grind the wings off the lower part of the bolt. There you go, saved you guys some cash
You got a huge mud hole in front of your magazine. No problem, if it is a toy gun. Big problem, if it is a field gun.
Why would you wanna do this? It'd be understandable if it wasn't pinned to five rounds, but it is. Now you have to carry around mags with you instead of clips, not to mention the fact it really sticks off the rifle.
Agreed. Just adds bulk and weight. Plus, with or without the modification to the bolt, I highly doubt reliability is as good as an unmodified SKS.
Go to 3:43 if you've ever seen an SKS before.
Yes this is nice. I like the looks of that, with that 'banana mag.' as you call it.
I hope we can buy them in America someday

you forgot the piston under the trunion.....
I don't normally clean that one. Any corrosive salts likely to make their way in there?

does anyone no if the do export kits for the us?
Why would anyone chop up a Russian SKS when Norincos are plentiful. This is disgusting.
the ridgerunner606 fuck you

We did all sorts of silly things back when SKSs were $170/ea.
That sure is pretty.
Why would you do this to this beautiful piece of history?
***** Soon there wont be.
***** Yes that is pretty soon. Oh no! I dont want to think about the next 50 years because it will be filled with trans gendered people and the disarmament of all Canadians.
The UN agenda is to have all North American civilians disarmed.
sks's litter the earth like the ak and rats. no harm to history was done. This guy couldn't shoot a pig. He is a sporter.
I am keeping mine the original way I purchased it.

A few years ago, you could get refurbished SVT-40s for just over $300, but yeah, I agree.
Price
Around $500.

If you hunt with an SKS, you must not really need the meat.
OK.
Emergency need you fast here ask for an I'd
Expensive
On second thought just forgo this video.
you didnt show a close up of the mods done....waste of time to watch this video
