It's really a hit and miss thing and depends on ammo.....Some are tight fit and can do ~3ish moa in a cold gun, but most if not all get loose and wobbly after 30 shots
I was at s friends never shot guns before and I got alot of time on the sks now. But I was talking a 4 inch wide plate by 4 foot long and I talked it almost everytime at 400 disgusting how good it was. I now am applying for firearms license for target shooting and hunting I never knew how fun these were.
I dont like to have to remove scope mount to clean the damn thing. Will more than likely lose zero on optic. And thoroughcleaning is a must with these things especialy wen shooting corrosive. Other than that its cool
That looks pretty sharp! I have two SKS-45's, one I keep 'as is' with wood laminated stock, the other I have the Tapco stock system. The thing here that you showed briefly was that MagWedge picatinny rail for optic mounting. That looks like it will work, on the SKS rifle and can be moved for full cleaning too. I am trying to find you video showing this, Adriel, but haven't found it yet. I like this video.
Yeah Brandon, by the time I got around to wanting to buy one of these mounts, it seems that they're not in stock anywhere now. IF you are in Canada, and know who stock's these mounts, please let me know.
Reg Sparkes yes I am in canada and so far the only place I've seen that has them in stock is magwedge or Amazon.ca. it would cost me $200 from magwedge or $115 from Amazon....I've been thinking of getting the one from Amazon not only because it's cheaper but because they always have one in stock lol
Before you and I order one,...just check out Matador Arms Corp, here in Canada. I saw their name on this one on Amazon.ca, then I checked into these folks a bit more. Interesting stuff. Just check and see what they offer us! I have to leave now, heading out to an Indoor Range for a day of target and plinking shooting. Cheers Brandon. We will chat later .
Reg Sparkes that is the company from Amazon I was looking at as well. I mean $99.95 + $15 for shipping isn't that bad at all I will be probably be ordering one either next pay or in February. but have fun at the range and throw some lead for me lol I'm going to be picking up some more ammo today along with a mag or two from my crappy tire here lol
When you click the link ....In your video showing the rail system in slow motion shooting . The rail is not a stable platform ? !! Moves up and down with the movement of the bolt . I've found over the years many options for the SKS are really JUNK . Stick with the basic platform and enjoy it . IMHO..
Great review, I noticed on a slow motion close up that as the bolt rode to the rear, it seemed to contact the rail. I was also wondering if it had a floating firing pin or if there was a pin retention spring?
Noticed you said the rifle was modified to accept AK mags. Do you have any information on how or where for someone interested in having a rifle retrofitted? I already have an SKS and would like to use AK mags if possible.
as you see in the slow mo, this dont work, owned one, will not hold zero, and no people the sks is not a 4-6 moa rifle, its a crap scope mount, get the choate machine and tool mount. drill and tap the receiver and never look back. i get 2" groups at 100 yards all day with my norinco, with the drill and tap style mount. i drilled, tapped, bolted and jb welded mine though. now its a respectable hunting rifle
the drill and tap mounts are the best hands down, no mount comes close to it. these are better than the dust cover gimmicks yes but not the best, these are barely usable
I have owned/shot sks rifles over 20 years. I haven't used the drill and tap mount system ever. I have the dust cover mount on one of my sks rifles. I can and do hunt with it. I've taken hog deer and rabbits out at 200 yards easy. I can reliably nail a beer can at 200. Good enough for me
So the first thing you show, in slow motion no less, is the bolt carrier hitting your "custom" rail with every shot? At least you were right up front showing us that the rifle will never hold zero.
Where is the bolt carrier hitting the rail? The rail moves, like a lot of things when you film in slow motion, but it's not making contact with the bolt carrier.
@@Huntinggearguy better late than never, I have a similar rail system on my sks maybe a different brand, but look man! that slow motion make it look worse than it is. I have used red dot W/ flip 3x magnifier and now its holding a primary arms raptor and that thin rocks and is accurate and has held zero just as a regular feature. I dont know about his rail though. yet the movement isn't anything because it is not failed mechanical movement. it is the same as the barrel moving in slow motion you will see the barrel flex . at any rat the aluminum returns to its hardened shape. Now that gas tub rail junk is funny as is the dust cover/pcatinny mount. stay free....
If I live in California could I buy one of these and have you ship it to my nearest gun dealer? I'm assuming it would only come with a 10-round magazine but that's fine.
You Could but you would need a Possession and Acquisition Licence (Gun License) to buy the Firearm in Canada. Buy the Gun. Then apply for an Import Permit from the ATF. The SKS would also be pinned to 5 Rounds but the pins are easily removable.
your scope mounts are too close together. with a rail that long try and get them as far apart as you can. it will help hold zero. watch closely during highspeed shots and watch that scope flop around with each shot.
How is the optic rail working out for you, does it keep it's zero? Ready to jump on this rail if I hear good reviews. My Russian SKS is on a Tapco chassis.
sks should only have a red dot at best... it has the same problem as AK's. a small rail mounted at where the iron sighs are, that is the only solution.
All he did was buy an sks, replace the stock with an ati strikeforce stock, and he added a Kodiak defense Picatinny rail. And there's the scope and bipod.
there's a reason they don't make guns with wood anymore... Even the Ak47 is made with plastic now. I bet you probably drive a V8 Cadillac and complain about how efficient new cars are too...
As far as what the SKS is capable of, I watched a vid where a shooter was using iron sights only and hitting steel plates @ 600 yards. Enough said.

I love what you have done with that sks. I have two of them and one of them will definitely have this done. Thanks for sharing
Mines that I have been building is amazing in opinion. Everything I can possibly need has been taken into consideration while remaining efficient
The KD stands for Kraft Dinner.
I dont like to have to remove scope mount to clean the damn thing. Will more than likely lose zero on optic.

Look for a reciever cover with a see through scope mount.
My sks came with one and a scope 👍
Put the cleaning rod in the closet, that rattling annoys me so bad on mine lol. And what’s the overall price

Reg Sparkes yes you can move the rail to clean the rifle. you remove the rear bolt to it and it flips up
Yeah Brandon, by the time I got around to wanting to buy one of these mounts, it seems that they're not in stock anywhere now.

Idek why people do these to there garbage rods
The SKS is a capable rifle with a lot of history. I don't understand trying to make it look like an AK or AR15.
the leaf sight mounts are quite stable and are decent for a scout rifle set up
Great review, I noticed on a slow motion close up that as the bolt rode to the rear, it seemed to contact the rail. I was also wondering if it had a floating firing pin or if there was a pin retention spring?
Floating firing pin. They have to be kept clean (ish) - if the firing pin gets fouled up and jams in the forward position it can run away.
@@patrickandkennafenwick3958 the pin needs to "rattle" back and forth when you shake it. If it doesn't it's cleaning time.
How did they make ak mag fit
Noticed you said the rifle was modified to accept AK mags. Do you have any information on how or where for someone interested in having a rifle retrofitted? I already have an SKS and would like to use AK mags if possible.
Check in with Kodiak Defence, they're the ones that mod these to take AK mags.

the drill and tap mounts are the best hands down, no mount comes close to it. these are better than the dust cover gimmicks yes but not the best, these are barely usable

I think there is no difference they are both pinned to the main frame it will hold zero i have one and it works good .
Just watched your video and struggle to see how that pic rail keeps zero

You can buy these in California as long as your 10 round magazine is permanently fixed.
Can the top rail be removed and the iron sights used?
Thanks
I can't seem to find your review on the rear rail.
not to mention he didnt discuss the issues clearly shown in the first 20 seconds of the video
jsmc84 that nice bounce in the scope? It isn't supposed to do that? :P
+Aaron Pops makes me cringe
Robert Lane it's normal.
Like the bipod 👍
It's great but no link to buy.
Loved it and wanna have suck kit for my sks.

Is the KD SKS rail available in the U.S.? How would someone get one?
Looks prestigious.
does anyone here own this gun?I want to get one but just wondering if the magazine jams like typical modded sks's
Where do I buy this or can I send them my sks to make the transformation. I have 3 of them and one is beat to hell
I want that
How is the optic rail working out for you, does it keep it's zero?
Ready to jump on this rail if I hear good reviews. My Russian SKS is on a Tapco chassis.
It looks like the sks in the video is possibly a chinese or short carbine model
Had the magazine release been modified from the original or is it just the receiver that is modified for the magazines?
The magazine release is modified.
+The Hunting Gear Guy hey there I just got one of these does the bolt stay open when the last round is fired or no???
William Tarr No, there's no last round bolt hold open.
+The Hunting Gear Guy ok thanks
This gun awesome.
Amazing... sks is much better than ak when modified
Even without modification the SKS is way more accurate than the AK. I am talking about an original SKS, not this billy bob version!!
Isnt it because sks have longer barrel than ak? And keep in mind that ak can be converted to full auto while sks can only be used in semi auto
random anun y’all really think these garbage rods are better than AKs
Some would say thems is fighting words.
Yeah I'll take one
A the side scope mount Set upon On It like the Romanian PSL rifle and a AK47
sks should only have a red dot at best... it has the same problem as AK's. a small rail mounted at where the iron sighs are, that is the only solution.
“I can even go down 3” - sure, as long as you’re only shooting downhill.
How much is those stocks
یہ پلاسٹک باڈی کتنے کا ملتا ہے
Where can buy the rail
does that top rail deflect casings to the side?
Casings already go to the side
Where do I buy one of these kits??
Wasn't available in kit form, they just sold whole converted rifles like this.
What's the barrel like? Good relative accuracy or what?
Typical SKS accuracy
The Hunting Gear Guy So like 4+ MOA? KK. Thx for the reply.
@@InternetSupervillain asking an SKS to be sub 4-5 MOA in any case, is just suggesting oneself to buy another rifle entirely haha
Is this still being sold in Canada and where can you buy one?
Cabelas $400 for the Russians
$250 for norinco from China
Here in alberts Canadian tire also carries them, godd luck
GoTenda just got a restock
@@850xp3 didnt Turdeau ban the SKS in Canada?
@@cheezuscrust7730 not yet ,but soon lol

I don't think they're sold anymore.

SKS-Kraft Dinner
Yay, You can buy a Bubba-SKS, Factory, From Bubba himself!
Not anymore. The days of cheap SKS's and factory modded ones are long gone.
can these sks's be shipped to the US?
I don't think they would because they're Russian's, but I could be wrong.
Frank Panzer Jr. you can But then in the USA in the wood stock and the ati or tapco stock
Where can I get this setup?
Man you ever find one yet im looking to
All he did was buy an sks, replace the stock with an ati strikeforce stock, and he added a Kodiak defense Picatinny rail. And there's the scope and bipod.
He didn't have a sks growing up if he did he'd know this is a 500yd massacre machine
Exactly. Me and my bro were hitting a target out at 500yards after i zeroed the rifle. Iron sights .
DON'T DO IT !!
Nay id pick the bullpup
Nice guns Russian Simonov KS Legendari people and American master guns super
bubba.
Wartak rail = Garbage
THE SKS IS NOT AN AK, IF YOU WANT AN AK, WHY DON’T YOU BUY ONE?
Well, I'm in Canada and we don't have AK's so.. ..
OK.
Who really cares? Is it your rifle? Guess it doesn't have enough wood for you.
A great way to waste money and ruin a rifle.

there's a reason they don't make guns with wood anymore... Even the Ak47 is made with plastic now. I bet you probably drive a V8 Cadillac and complain about how efficient new cars are too...
Gawd this system is just crap…why don’t people just leave these poor guns alone? If you want an actual dmr type rifle just buy one…this is so cringy…
Once upon a time, SKSs were $180 each.
