      That is so cool that you saw the display in 1947. It is really neat, if yo9u have not seen it in a while, you have to go back and see it. You will not be disappointed. Thank you so much for watching and taking the time to comment.

      Thank you my friend, We need to try to get more people our age into the hobby. That is one of the reasons I made this channel. I subbed to yours. I really like the content you have. Let's keep the channels rolling. And it is O-Gauge or no gauge. LOL

      Are you from Chicago? I’ve been here my whole life this layout is a masterpiece. I’m also a part of the Chicago Lionel railroad club and run a ton of o gauge.

      @GfwTrains  5 лет назад

      @@AngelGarcia-up6jh Yeah, I am from the Chicago suburbs. The MSI layout is fantastic! That is cool that you belong to the CLRC. It looks like a great group. I see them from time to time at shows I go to. I belong to the Train Collectors Association, Midwest Division. We do a lot of fun stuff through that group too. In fact most of the layouts you see on my channel are layouts from my friends in the group. Additionally, we have a modular group in the club that I am active in. We set up our layout at shows around Chicagoland often. Stay in touch, maybe our paths will cross at a show.

    I remember the old display, but I've never seen this. It's great! It looks just like Chicago.
    I grew up on the South Side. There were trains, trains, lots of trains. My whole neighborhood was boxed in by train tracks. There was a railroad yard a half mile from my house. I spent a whole lot of time waiting for trains. And this display illustrates just what it was like; trains constantly going by your house, roads and intersections blocked by trains 50% of the time, freight trains, Metra trains, it still seems odd to not have trains constantly in the background.

    • @GfwTrains
      @GfwTrains  2 года назад

      That is really cool. Thanks for sharing. There is not a better place in the world than Chicago if you like trains. This is one of the best layouts I have ever seen too. Really appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment.

      Don't bother, The new exhibit is a big pile of garbage. They replaced some high quality S gauge trains and replaced them with cheap unremarkable," Tyco" sets the buildings where okay but that's not the reason for the exhibit. This is a rubbish train set they've ruined. It and I want my money back!

    I was about 9 or 10 when my Dad to me to the Fields Museum as a surprise; little did he realize or know that his son would have achieved the position of Locomotive Engineer on two Class 1 RR the Southern Pacific[made my seniority date on the SP in Northern California] and flowed over to the Union Pacific after the UP took over in the nineties and worked on the Roseville Service Unit/Oakland subdivision, worked through freight, And dad if you happened to be with me on that CZLAT with me as my "head man" on an 8 to 9000-ton freight out of Crown Zellerbach paper and wood products in Washington State or Oregon to San Luis Obisipo about 225 miles from Oakland {RR miles] YOU would be in the seat running,far cry from my Lionel layout you played with,dont worry I will keep my eye on ya. R.I.P. Dad.
    I retired in 2004 with 30 years of seniority as a Locomotive Engineer.

    You really outdid yourself this time George ! Dale and Karyn From Toy-man
    television Did the show in the same spot in the same place you’re at ! Chicago museum of natural science I believe ! However you were able to do something that he was not able to do ! And that’s the fact that you smart enough to get up on that second-floor and take pictures of the entire layout from Birdseye view ! Anyway this was really a nice and fun layout and very detailed although it was in HO instead of “O” ! Well I guess you just can’t have everything huh ! Anyway great job ! 5-⭐️
