  • Narrated by John Llewellyn, the designer of the exhibition, here's the back story of the GREAT TRAIN STORY at MSI.
Starting with the original model railroad at MSI, Minton Cronkhite's 1941 "Museum and Santa Fe Model Railroad," see the research, development, design, construction and magic of the Great Train Story.
Unveiled in 2002, this exhibition is open to all at the Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago.

Very nice layout. Visited it again late April of '24. Certainly an improvement over the one I remember as a child. My ONLY complaint is the unrealistic speed at which the trains were running the day I was there. Too fast to be prototypical.

The shark in the pool is not on the Major HO Scale layout in San Diego. It resides on the San Diego Sons N Scale layout. It takes some bits and pieces of the now BNSF and puts them in with the MTS System.
