- In this video I’m in Long Beach California to visit the filming locations from the iconic video for Snoop Dogg’s Who Am I? from the groundbreaking hip hop album Doggystyle. I also visit VIP records for an exclusive interview with Kelvin Anderson, the man who helped Snoop, Warren G, and Nate Dogg all record their very first demos. I discuss the history of g funk and the Long Beach rap scene from the early 90’s. I’m joined in this video by my good friend Raul Bravo, a fellow RUclipsr from Long Beach.

Our neighbors here in Longbeach tried like hell to have that sign stay right where it was, on top of the building. Iconic
When I lived there I would go and spend hours in that place, I had no idea how iconic this place was gonna be in 25 30yrs. Thanks again for the best story yet.

LOL... PCH all the way thru LB, AT night.... is pretty intimidating... to say the least!!! Hopefully Raul took you to Shorline Village and Pine St - The LB nightlife scene is one of the best and a must!!!

Hi Scotty watched the whole video and know most of the rappers name mentioned by you as my kids listen to their music all the time. When they get together and have discussions about these rappers Snoop Dog, Biggie and Tupac etc. they always bring me into their conversation and say Mum remember this one and of course most of the time I do because if not watching the clips on MTV or Rage I am listening to their music while travelling in their cars while going to some family event, shopping, to the beach or picnic. Not forgetting the radio station RTR FM 92.1 where DJ VEENESS plays on the weekends. So as you can see I am WITH IT😂😂. Nice to see the locations and to meet your friend Raul. Hey Scotty, I've been a bit behind on the videos Man. But playing catch up with the Mrs today. This was a really awesome video. Vanessa and I are heavily into Hip Hop and Rap, and have been for decades. Me a little longer than her though, ha! It was great to hear Kelvin's stories about back in the day. He must of seen some amazing things in his life, and to be there at the birth of the G-Funk Era, Wow!!! Yeah Mum had to listen to our rap music, and not by choice at first :) We would have RUN DMC, NWA, Ice T, Ice Cube, Onyx and so on pumpin on our boombox. Great days, I miss them so much. Tango Sucka out of all those groups , it’s funny , the only one i didn’t get into was Onyx for some reason. Otherwise all the others are my favourite artists. I miss those days too. Scott it was such a poiniant tribute to an amazing gentleman. Obviously i am not familvar with VIP,i havent heard of it, this is the downfall of being an outsider but i do try to stay current. My children proberbly listened to music thex shouldnt have too. Snoop dog has a unique style to his music and to me he is a nice guy. Your choices and subject matter always touch my heart and soul, ocasionally some of your content has in someway eccoed parts of my past its always touching stuff.👍

How ironic is it that if you find yourself on Martin Luther King Blvd, Ave, etc in ANY city in the USA, you know you are in a bad neighborhood? It's uncanny. Any city, anywhere on MLK Blvd, ave, etc and your in trouble. Lol. No knock on the man. He was brilliant and a great human being. I'm just talking about the roads.
