  • One the jobs I tend to recommend to newer players is our first shield healer scholar, and with that being the case here is a guide showing how to play the king of big shields.

This was awesome. Haven't played in two years and I completely forgot how to play my level 56 SCH. This is such a great refresher and I learned some useful tips. Thank you!

Straight in, to the point and detailed explanations. 10 out of 10! Please make more of theses.

Talking kinda fast, I had to slow the video speed. Good explanations otherwise.

agree, it felt like dumping the skill tooltips as fast as possible

Same here, just not able to actually process and take notes at the same time. It's too fast for instructional.

SCH main here, this guide is a great intro to the job. Never be afraid to use your OGCD's - the gameplay loop of SCH encourages using them to maximize the time you have to cook enemies.

2:29 I don't sacred soil is very good at dungeons before level 76. 10% mit means you have to block 6000 cure potency's worth of damage to equal 1 lustrate, which you can also spend your aetherflow on. That amount of damage would just kill the tank.
I guess if you or the tank are undergeared and you need to spam GCD heals it might be worth it

Ruin II is a gain over Ruin from Lv38 if you can auto attack, Art of War is a gain on one for the same reason until Lv54 you learn Broil!

Thanks for this! I'm playing WHM right now, but this video is seriously making me think about whether I should switch.

I mean all the healers are fine. As mentioned scholar is better early on, but white mage starts becoming the strongest dungeon healer basically the moment they hit heavensward. That being said leveling scholar also levels a dps in the form of summoner, so it gives you some variety once you reach the endgame which the big reason I recommend leveling it.

Tanks run away immediately after finish each pull. Where would you get the chance to cast shields twice

You can cast as the pack is finishing or just use your swiftcast.

I'm 100% positive this guy recorded this and then sped it up because it was too long. No way I can watch this higher than .75 playback speed.

I disagree, they're talking faster than average for sure, but nothing out of the ordinary.

No its a fair criticism. This was back when I was getting used to reading scripts, and as I result I spoke faster than I should of. It's part of the reason I part of the reason I plan on going back and remaking some of my older guides to be closer to how they are today.
