- In today's fantasy battle we're going to take two opponents who are insanely powerful; Darth Maul vs Anakin Skywalker. Who would win?
We’ve got the chosen one, vs arguably one of the more rage filled Sith to ever live. The Zabrak that survived being cut in half and falling down a shaft has some of the most aggressive fighting style we’ve come to see in Star Wars.
Trained in the 7th lightsaber fighting style, Maul was using the most aggressive fighting form there was. Full of acrobatics and powerful offensive strikes. He was the type of face user you wouldn’t want to encounter because his hunger for blood was insatiable. Maul didn’t use much of the force prior to the clone wars. At least in comparison. He was more of a savage. He liked to be up close and personal, to feel his blade cut through his enemy as he looked them in the eyes until their last breath. This won't be easy for Anakin. How will he do?

I'm a little biased because Anakin is my all-time favorite Star Wars character, but I believe that at his maximum potential against any other character at theirs, no one can beat Anakin. He is the pinnacle of all force users, extending also to melee combat, flying (I assume), etc.

I honestly think it would be a good fight but at the end Anakin takes the win once he taps into the darkside it's over.

To be fair, Maul is more experienced and is more skilled as a Duelist.
Yes, Anakin is definitely more skilled in Form V and had more force potential but he was frankly on easy mode because of his force potential and his relative dedication to sticking to his lightsaber combat. Unlike Obi Wan, Anakin stayed learning Form V and Jarkai, he never learned another form to master it just because he could.
Maul did, but he prefered Juyo and clearly even though he ‘mastered’ or knew the other six light saber forms, he didnt know them well enough to beat Obi Wan twice.
This implies to me his gaps in combat is more on the practical side and less the theoretical side.
I think Anakin wins still, but it is at least close.
@@twenty-fifth420 You forget this fact, old Obi Wan killed Darth Maul in one swing of his sword easily. Yet Obi Was did not stand a chance against Darth Vader. If Vader could beat Obi-Wan yet Obi-Wan could kill Darth Maul so easily then I'm pretty sure that Anakin would easily beat Darth Maul and yes I used Vader as an example but keep in mind that Anakin was a much faster duelist before he became Vader.

I've always had a question about Anakin that no channel has ever answered. As many huge Star Wars fans know, Anakin struggled to make friends his age when growing up in the temple. Although he had many mentors and teachers, he had trouble making connections with Jedi his age. My question, do you think if Anakin would have made a group of close friends, ones he could seek advice from, train with, and enjoy free time with, that the emotions towards the Jedi Order would be different. So much so that he may of stayed in the light.

I think his chances staying ob the light would be high with dome true friends. Imagine being that young, with all you've gone trough and having no real friend besides of Obi Wan. He was supossed to go dark side the way it turned out...but he had to be a cocky child if he wasn't able to make friends

I doubt it. Anakin, his son and his grandson Ben Solo all had to immerse themselves in the dark side of the force for full understanding of their powers, the story of the Skywalker men is how they pushed the limits of jedi understanding by embracing and returning from the dark side.

Maul got owned by Obi-Wan while having the high ground. The high ground wasn't with him. I believe Anakin would've won, especially with all the anger he would muster facing the one who killed Qui Gon.

@@fabriferraro2766 That is true, Maul won the fight and could have easily defeated Obi-Wan while he jumped out of the shaft, but Obi-Wan's desperate move took him off guard, not to mention Obi-Wan's luck of having a spare lightsaber just happening to lie nearby. But Obi-Wan won in the end, granted he had a lot of luck and a thick layer of plot armor. But Anakin was overall more powerful than Obi-Wan, both with a lightsaber and with the Force, he dominated their entire duel on Mustafar up until his stupid arrogant mistake, he lost more to his own hubris than anything else. Coupled with his anger, he would've stood a fair chance against Maul.

Enki Obi Wan has a very defensive form. Obi Wan was observing Anakin, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. Once the opportunity came, he jumped and taunted Anakin. We know where it goes from there. Obi Wan was THE master of Form III of lightsaber combat, Soresu. It was a very defensive form, and only a few masters of the form died in combat. Again, Anakin wasn’t dominating Obi Wan. Obi Wan was just being patient, waiting for the perfect opportunity.

Haven't watched the video but, wouldn't Anakin win this? He's practiced bot Mauls before so, yeah. If Anakin never trained to fight Maul, it's maybe possible for Maul to win, maybe. Just, maybe. Don't underestimate Maul though, he's quite the powerhouse. Great What If Video.

Maul is more sophisticated than people give him credit for. He's a savage fighter but still a disciplined martial artist. And his thoughtful planning on the takeover of Mandalore shows he's not feral or ignorant. His Sith missions required an understanding of politics, criminal organizations, planetary governments and corporations.
The question becomes how powerful was Maul? Mother Talzin's power was described as illusion or connected to Dathomir itself. So he isn't powerful by Legacy. Sidious wouldn't have wasted his time if Maul wasn't powerful. But his training was limited by Plagueis.
He proved as powerful as Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon. But his potential could have equaled Mace Windu. If they were both whole at the height of their power. I think the fight would be similar to Obi-Wan vs Anakin with far more punches & acrobatics. Anakin would still win though.

Anakin is just as, if not more athletic than Maul. You’re not beating anakin coming forward
My money is on Anakin full way. throughout the times of the darker Anakin in the animated clone wars series up to him killing Dooku in Ep3, Anakin didn't need rage to win. He was simply just that powerful and that skilled, especially when killing Dooku. He had nothing to anger him. He was completely calm and focused and killed Dooku. He was conflicted yeah but only after beating Dooku fair and square. That Anakin would've beat Maul and quite frankly I believe would've beat Obi-Wan. I believe that's Anakin's prime. Not him at his rageful, arrogant state, but him at his calm and focused state. I honestly think his use of the dark side is more efficient when hes calm rather than when hes angry. In the end phases of the animated clone wars when he fought various people like, Dooku, Barris, and Asajj he either was slowly or quickly outmatching/completely dominating them while keeping calm. looking angry but staying focused.
Yea i completely agree, anakin was much more powerful than people give him credit for even tho he didn't reach his full potential. He would definitely win, particularly because he has studied Maul so thoroughly and Maul has never actually fought against Anakin before so he doesn't really know that much about his fighting style and stuff. Anakin's force abilities would certainly overpower Maul's and his lightsaber combat is either equally as strong as Maul's or stronger. Anakin also has more determination than any person in the stars wars universe, it's one of the reason's Vader became such a formidable sith, because of his determination to become better. So with Anakin in a controlled, focused, determined state in which he is tapping into the darkside he would destroy Maul.
Every Clone Wars-era duel between Anakin and Asaj Ventress was a metaphor for bed-destroying, wall-banging, ,force powered fornication!!!!!!! The two of them SERIOUSLY needed to “get a room”. Oh, the little Darthlings they would have parented.........

In terms of Anakin fighting Maul, I think it would definitely be a close fight, especially since they both tap into the Dark Side and heavily emphasize attacks over defense.
However, I think the tipping point toward Anakin is that Maul is the one who killed Gui-Gon Jinn, the Jedi who discovered Anakin, who believed in him, fought the council to train Anakin, brought him out of slavery - and Maul killed him. And as stated in the video, Anakin was VERY interested in the duel that claimed Qui-Gon's life.
If they did fight, then no matter how injured Anakin may be, no matter how powerful or savage Maul might become, no matter how much Anakin would have to draw on the Dark Side, there's no way Anakin would let Maul out alive.

Maul wouldnt fight like a retarded though since Anakin is physicaly much larger than maul as well as being genius at duelling. even though anakin is powerful, it’s a miss match. Mauls training as a assassin and sith apprentice dwarfs anakins Jedi training. He sparred with sidious to learn all the lightsaber forms as well as how to harness the dark side.
I could imagine anakin breaking mauls prosthetics or he’s lightsaber if he gave into the dark side though.

I honestly think Maul would have decimated them, Obi Wan was originally fueled by rage and Qui Gonn was already pushed way out of his comfort zone.
Maul would simply have too much of a tactical advantage, he would kill them both although the fight might have dragged on a bit longer.
Obi Wan wouldn't be given a massive boost from the Dark Side and wouldn't have a hope in Hell of beating Maul unless Qui Gonn died first, in which case I still think Maul would win because Maul wouldn't have to kill the momentum he built up from fighting to wait for Obi Wan.
Maul just wins in every situation I can think of unless Qui Gonn and Obi Wan suddenly started fighting in an un-orthadox manner which they would not, so they would not be capable of overwhelming Maul with their numbers or strange attacks.
Obi Wan was a very skilled fighter even as a padawan but on the level of Maul? Not even close.
If you want a scenario where Obi Wan and Qui Gonn both survive then maybe it would be "What if Maul didn't force push Obi Wan off those platforms leading up to the ray shields?"
In that case I think Maul would have felt incredibly pressured because Obi Wan and Qui Gonn would be in a more comfortable position.
And it's possible Maul would have made mistakes out of desperation.
The answer is simple:
Anakin would have destroyed him!
A simple force choke and force push off a cliff or skyscraper would end Maul!
Without a shadow of a doubt, Anakin easily destroys him

I love how this channel has grown and exemplified the pinnacle of the humble and positive side of the fandom for Star Wars. Star Wars theory will probably keep growing into something that is probably soon to join Disney on projects for Star Wars.
God, I love Maul. I'm not always the biggest Disney Canon fan...but they REALLY fleshed out Maul...and that is so awesome.

I know that it would be a cool thing to see, but I think that it was a good thing that they never fought. First, because Anakin would have given into the Dark Side to avenge Qui-Gon. Second, because Darth maul is appropriately Obi-Wan's rival; Anakin's rival during his Clone Wars arc is Ventress. It's appropriate for Ventress to be Anakin's rival because they are largely opposites - Ventress was raised as a Jedi initiate as a child, but lost her master in her early teens, while Anakin only began his training as a preteen. While Ventress was betrayed by her Order, Anakin betrayed his. Ventress always wanted a master's approval, while Anakin wanted to meet his own lofty ambitions.

I got a pretty good what if.
What if the Rebellion managed to get their hands on some hidden Subjugator-class ship that was in hiding or something. For those who don't know, Subjugator-class vessels was basically a massive vessel (Size of Subjugator: 4,845 meters. Size of Venator: 1,137 meters. Size of Home One: 3,200 meters.), with its primary weapon being a huge ion cannon, capable of completely disabling multiple ships completely at a time, which it would then be subject to the hundreds of turbolaser batteries on the ship (See what I did there?). These ships were fleet killers in the clone wars. This could also allow the Rebellion to probably capture many ISD1s and maybe ISD2s, depending if it came out before or after the Executor. The Executor I'm pretty sure would almost always destroy it, since the Subjugator-class can only disable ships that have a lower power output than the Subjugator itself.
Lets say that instead of disappearing from the galaxy completely and never being seen again, General Kalani managed to find one last Subjugator-class heavy cruiser that was in a secret drydock around the end of the war, but since the Separatists leaders were dead and Kalani was the only one who knew where the ship was, but since he never knew that the Separatist leaders were dead (Since he said that he thought the shut-down command was a trick made by the Republic) he never went to activate the ship and stayed on his planet. Now since there was nothing stopping him from getting the ship, however his limited number of droids could only act as a skeleton crew for the massive ship, he decided to join the Rebellion, in order to survive and probably repay Ezra in a way I guess. Hell, this might even become the flagship of the Rebel Fleet for a while. I'm honestly kinda hoping it survives to the Battle of Endor, though pretty sure it would get taken down by the Death Star, to show it's still operational.
The comment about anakin if he's protecting padme made me think of a fanfiction called knight of the force where vader is sent back in time to his body in the arena on genosis from the second death star over endor it's an awesome story

And in Legends, Anakin raw force power is stronger. No contest.

@@CameronMcKee Force barriers, like the name suggest, it's a barrie of force energy that protects against force based attacks.Almost all Jedi and Sith had the ability in Legends but had various levels of mastery.
Mostly because he just powers through them.
And his barrier is tough though, able to he run through multiple force pushes from Asaj Ventress if their fight is still considered to be how it would happen.
And in terms of Lightsaber style he uses a style which uses a lot of riposte and counter attack, supposedly, Djem So. Still a stance based heavily on offense.
And maul was never near the most powerful dark side force user. Anakin was stronger than him period.

Yes, Anakin at the time of Ep. III would ultimately win with his superior strength in the Force. It wold be a long, beautiful fight to watch as they are both such offensive fighters.
Count Dooku was said to be more experienced and a better duelist than Maul. That’s how Count Dooku was able to shit on Obi Wan both times they fought. Anakin was able to overpower Dooku in ROTS, so Maul really doesn’t have much of a chance.

If there is a Crimson Dawn series, it could show its eventual demise at the hands of Vader. Old man Maul would barely escape a duel with Vader and the next time we would see him is on Tatooine facing Kenobi.

And dooku is more skilled than maul by a lot. Anakin by ROTS was a tier 9 duelist while Obi Wan and maul wee tier 8. So saying maul was a better duelist than anakin is completely wrong. Anakin was also more powerful than maul with the force by a large margin.

He was, massively. Anakin was beating Obi Wan throughout their duel, notice that its Anakin on the attack constantly all throughout and Obi Wan is forced to retreat all the time. In a way Obi Wan didn't defeat Anakin, Anakin defeated himself through his lack of foresight. Or in other words trying an idiotic and unnecessary acrobatic stunt. Personally if I was Anakin I'd have used the force to hurl lava at Obi Wan or just go off up stream and get on land safely then continue the duel, but that's just me.

The High Ground wouldn’t work on Maul. Only with Obi Wan and we saw that when he sliced Maul in half while Maul had the high ground.

Put Anakin in Obiwan's role from the episode in Clone Wars where Maul kills the Queen of Mandalor right before his eyes. Put Padme in that role and let the hell fire on. That would be awsome.
