The only issue I had with this movie, was a point she brought up, which is that the Imperial gave Han his iconic last name. That just rubbed me the wrong way. I agree with her, he should've been the one to say it first.
to me, he was the best part of the movie he did a great job. With trailers i figured he would be the weakest part, but turns out he was the strongest. Now, i didn't feel any "Han Solo" from him, but he was entertaining.
This movie had an uphill climb. Recasting a beloved character played by a huge star and coming after Rouge One which is arguably the best of all the SW films.
In Solo-- L3's memory is downloaded into the Falcon's computer. In The Empire Strikes Back -- 3PO: "I don't know where your ship learned to communicate. It has a most peculiar dialect." And, according to Lucasfilm, Warwick Davis is playing the same character here that he played in The Phantom Menace.
1:05:18 Yes, that very much is the same Darth Maul. at this point in Star Wars, we need to be aware that the big story is told over many different mediums, the Movies are the flagships, but there are television shows to take into consideration too, both animated and Live action. to learn why Maul showed up at this time as a big crime lord, you might want to look into the animated show The Clone Wars. the Show is great, it tells the story of what happened during the war in between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. and fleshes out so much of the characters.
That is Darth Maul. But now he just goes by Maul. He survived being cut in half. Watch the animated Clone Wars series and the Rebels series to see the rest of his story. This moment confused a lot of people who never followed the 2 animated series.
Stormtroopers are human recruits, trained by Clone Troopers who were gradually phased out of active service; at the time of the original trilogy only a few Stormtroopers were clones, with the only known legion to still contain a significant number of clones being the 501st Legion, a.k.a. "Vader's Fist" (paraphrased from Wikipedia).

The owner of the Mos Eisley cantina is actually a Wookiee named Chalmun, lol. Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina, also known simply as Chalmun's Cantina, or as the Mos Eisley Cantina, was a drinking and dining establishment located in the city of Mos Eisley on the desert world of Tatooine. Although a dimly lit tavern known for frequent outbreaks of violence, it was a popular stopping point for pilots, smugglers, bounty hunters, alien misfits, and renegades. Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina was a sandstone construct originally constructed by early Tatooine pioneers as a fortification against Tusken Raider (Sand People) raids. It was located on Inner Curved Street in the outskirts of the Mos Eisley spaceport on Tatooine. The building housed a bar area with a maximum occupancy of 102 patrons, with seats at the bar and at a variety of tables and booths. As Mos Eisley expanded, the building saw use as an armory, a brewery and a flophouse for vagrants. By the time of the Galactic Civil War, the cantina had changed ownership twice since the Clone Wars : the Ranat siblings known as the Vriichon brothers turned the building into an illegal spice (drug) den, until sometime before the Clone Wars, the building was purchased by the Wookiee Chalmun, who legitimized the business by turning it back into a bar for spacers arriving into the busy spaceport of Mos Eisley. Chalmun was a male Wookiee and the owner of Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina in Mos Eisley, Tatooine. Originally a street fighter, he swindled tourists on Ord Mantell until he had enough money to buy his cantina from the Vriichon brothers. Despite his desire to enforce certain rules, his establishment was known for its occasional outbreaks of shocking violence, and even Chalmun himself had shady dealings with local gangsters. Over time, it became a successful landmark of Tatooine, with many coming to the planet to pursue connections in the establishment. Under his employ was the gruff human Wuher, who, despite not being the friendliest bartender in the galaxy, was respected by his customers for never asking any questions, and Ackmena, the female night-shift bartender, who had friendlier manners. The cantina's bar had twelve drinks available on tap, with the size of a standard drink being 16 ounces. The most popular drinks at the cantina were blue milk, Tatooine Sunset, Jawa Juice, Yatooni Boska, Tatooni Junko, and Hutt's Delight. There was also a secret drinks list that patrons could ask for, which included the items Red Dwarf, Cassandra Sunrise, Nova Blaster, and Flameout. Frequent clients were privy to a number of special accommodations that could be requested from the owners. If a patron were to ask for the "Nova Blaster with Savareen Brandy swapped for Corellian", the patron would then be escorted into a hidden gun closet where they could purchase black market weapons. The Bith "Fiery" Figrin D'an, kloo horn player and leader of the Modal Nodes, was a regular act at Chalmun's Cantina. Anti-droid policy : A deep-seated anti-droid sentiment, also known as droidophobia, existed in some segments of the galactic citizenry. While hostility towards droids dated back to ancient times, anti-droid sentiment was exacerbated by the Confederacy of Independent Systems's active use of battle droids during the Clone Wars. This sentiment continued into the Age of the Empire and the rise of the New Republic. Some worlds like Nakadia did not welcome droids. Droids were also excluded from some establishments such as Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina. The relationship between organics and mechanicals was rocky from early on, as could be attested by historical records of ancient uprisings and clashes that took place as droids became increasingly commonplace. Some came to fear them, regarding them as an "existential threat to biological life." According to R0-GR, aka "Roger" (a B1-series battle droid and veteran of the Separatist Droid Army during the Clone Wars), several attempted droid uprisings occurred in history, which fueled human concerns about droids rising against their masters. ― Mos Eisley Cantina house rules : "Leave your droids outside. You don't want Wuher on your case." "Keep your blaster holstered! Why ask for trouble?" "Find an empty table or barstool. Crowding other customers will only end in tears." "Be friendly. Buy a drink for your neighbor at the bar." "Applaud the band - even if they're way off-key!" "Make pleasant conversation and try to laugh at bad jokes." "Tip the bartender, especially if you make a mess."
In Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, the Millennium Falcon landed inside the cave that happened to be that creature. Han Solo tells C-3PO to plug into the Millennium Falcon and afterwards said that ship computer has a particular odd dialect. That's L-3.

That is in fact Darth Maul. He returned in events that happened in the Clone Wars show. The opening crawl is reserved for the main Skywalker Saga films The clones aren’t gone from dying out, they were phased out for non clone volunteers and conscripts for numerous reasons. Accelerated aging made their physical skills & abilities deteriorate faster, they were expensive to make, most had a sense of morality that didn’t mesh with the Empire, etc. though there’s still a small amount serving the Empire They said Chewie hadn’t been fed in 3 days, but they didn’t say they’d been feeding him people. And even if they did, it may have been his only source of food. Qi’ra was sold to Dryden. Yes, Dryden’s face marks become more pronounced when he’s stressed or angry. “It’s that guy [in the droid fighting ring], whatever his name is” Do you mean the actor? Because that character has never appeared before. The actor is Ron Howard’s brother, Clint L3’s voice is Phoebe Waller-Bridge 3PO mentioned the spice mines of Kessel in Episode 4. Teras Kasi is a martial art meant to be used against force users. Makes sense that Dryden would’ve learned it and taught it to Qi’ra since Maul is their boss. _Anakin_ is the best pilot in the galaxy. Maybe after he died Han could claim that title. L3 being uploaded into the Falcon is a retroactive reference to EpV. 3PO said the Falcon had a peculiar dialect. Enfys Nest’s unmasking is just meant to show she’s younger than expected for a marauder/pirate, and a woman. Beckett thought Enfys was a man. Warwick Davis is actually reprising his human character Weazel that was in the podrace audience in Phantom Menace What? Yes, Han killed Beckett. Han shoots first! Qi’ra’s story is continued in comics. Her backstory when her and Han were separated is explored in a novel. If you pay very close attention, you can actually see Han’s dice hanging in the Falcon in Episode 4 at one point. It wasn’t till the new films that they were seen up close

These are the serial animation format shows, which would be hard to adapt for Popcorn Roulette, but Coby with how beloved this franchise and some of it’s characters seem to have become to you, content from that era will answer your “so what happened after ____” questions and overall scratch the itch. I love all three I mentioned-Bad Batch is absolutely beautiful and bittersweet but you lose a lot of emotional significance if you don’t watch Clone Wars and Rebels first ***official Clone Wars episode sequence isn’t chronological due to executive-level meddling. You can google a chronological list that tells the story as creative intended, it helps first-timers with novice Star Wars knowledge a LOT.
I've watched Solo a couple of times since it released, and each time Alden is somehow more and more convincing as Han. I was so sceptical at first, but I ended up loving this movie
A lot of people hate this movie and I never understood why. Han is my favorite character, possibly of all time, so it was impossible for it to live up to my expectations for it but I do like it. Disney really has trashed Star Wars and while this isn’t great, it is a good movie.
You gotta remember that the millennium falcon was last seen in a little scene at the beginning of revenge of the Sith. This Movie is at least 10 years after that. It’s possible that the millennium falcon with at least 15 years old when we seen it in the third Star Wars movie..
I hadn't seen this movie in quite a while and really didn't remember much of the details. When I saw you had made a reaction video, it gave me the excuse to rewatch the film so I can follow along with you. I had forgotten how enjoyable this movie was. It doesn't deserve the grief so many Star Wars "fans" like to heap on it
Ha! "It's that guy!" That guy is Clint Howard. Ron Howard's little brother, who was also a child actor, and among other things, Ron Howard will usually give him a supporting role or cameo in his movies. I forget the whole drama, but someone else had started out directing this film, there were issues, and Ron Howard took over. Oh. I'm assuming you know who Ron Howard is. If you don't... I mean, I don't know, but he was a child actor on TV, first as Opie on "The Andy Griffith Show", then as a teenager, he was Richie Cunningham on "Happy Days", and then went on to be one of the best filmmakers with a pretty astonishing career.
I absolutely love your laugh! Reminds me of my best friends laugh. Haven’t heard it in a long time. 😔. Thanks for making my month. Glad you’re enjoying the Star Wars expanded universe.
The guy who plays Wicket and Willow (Warwick Davis) is in all of the Star Wars films except A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. Sometimes he is in a costume and not readily recognizable. I love Watching films with you! Have a great one!!
Big fan of Solo, it's just a shame it went through development hell and Ron Howard got parachuted in to fix it but Alden Ehrenreich nailed everything about the character. Hope he gets another shot at playing Solo.
The animated series fill it in between movies and add more as well. Early Empire: Clone Wars, Bad Batch & Star Wars Rebels Before the movies like this one or TV shows, there were comic series and game based adventures as well. Plus novels based on Star Wars.
I don’t know if you picked up on it, but in every star wars movie, at least once, somebody says “I have a bad feeling about this.” But this is the only movie where Han actually says “I have a really good feeling about this” The fans in the theatre all laughed out loud when we heard it 🤣
Coby, the voice of L-3 is Phoebe Waller-Bridge; known for the series Fleabag, and appearing opposite Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023).
Finally some appreciation for Solo. I genuinely did like watching this movie. There are still clones but they were phased out. The Bad Batch shows this perfectly. The imperial march played "patriotically" within the universe too, and more ominously not that much later when the on-the-ground battle was shown. Kessel, a direct reference to Han's Kessel Run mentioned in ANH, and shows in its entirety in this too. Lando the cheater back at it again! That's why they did that unique handshake in ESB, to see if he has anything hidden in his wrist, and it was also shown in this movie (first time in timeline-order) and I think he stole the card(s) that Lando was going to use to cheat and used them himself. That's why Lando was confused why he didn't have the cards he needed. I could be wrong though. Aurra Sing, actually seen in TPM, and a bit character in The Clone Wars. I think the Falcon was Lando's. I loved seeing that table-top hologram game again. They did play Han's music a lot, and I loved it, and even the trench run music, and also the music when they show the Death Star in ANH. I also heard the asteroid field chase scene music from ESB in this. At least we know L3 lives on in the ship. 🥲 Now with the escape pod gone off the Falcon, it looks exactly like it does in the OT, in the front. Their path was locked in. That's why even though the ship turned in a different direction it was able to line itself up again. Oh yes, that's Maul.
This movie is way underrated. I think it's because of over-saturation of Star Wars movies and series at the time. I may be biased because Han and Chewie were my favs but an origin story for them? Are you joking? Who doesn't like it?!
One of the primary criticisms was that the origin story was mostly a bulleted list of things we already knew happened or were significant, so even though we saw Lando and Chewie and the Kessler Run, that’s all stuff we already *knew.* They could’ve shown character-defining story content we have no idea about, and unfortunately in this movie it gets a little pandering and overly nostalgic These are, in a nutshell, the “fair” and thoughtful complaints. In general Star Wars fans hate everything until the next piece of cinema comes out-then they hate that one. It rhymes, it’s like poetry.
A really good one was “if everything ever hinted about Han’s past all can be explained over the course of the Solo movie’s runtime, what the hell else was he doing before the events of A New Hope?”
I really liked this movie. I saw it five times in the movie theater. The one word that I would use to describe it is “fun”. I thought Alden did a great job (as did Donald Glover!). I was really hoping for a SOLO 2. Glad you enjoyed it.
Great reaction video, Coby. I'm glad you enjoyed Solo- it's very underrated. That was indeed Darth Maul or just Maul as he goes by at this point. The lower half of his body is mechanical. I'm looking forward to your reaction to Rogue One.
I loved the Solo movie. How cld u possibly hv a Solo backstory w/o: 1) He & Chewie meeting. 2) The Kessel Run. 3) Winning the Falcon from Lando. 4) Establishing him as a great pilot & brash guy (but a good guy). This movie covered ALL those bases (& well). As to young Lando, I thought Donald Glover was everything anyone cld expect in a young Lando (nailed it). Glad u enjoyed it. Can't wait to see your ROGUE ONE reaction!!!
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching along with you on your Star Wars journey. Your personality is infectious. The credit crawl is only used in episodes 1-9. All the rest are Star Wars side stories
This is NOT the first time Disney did a Star Wars movie. Rogue One is the first Disney Star Wars movie, and in my opinion, it's one of the best Star Wars movies ever made. It fits perfectly into the Star Wars movies, set just before New Hope. Solo got panned even before it was released by Star Wars fans who never wanted the universe to be expanded. But honestly, I think it's a pretty good movie. Star Wars fans can be unforgiving and irrational. A lot of us love being able to explore the universe and different stories within it.
Rogue One has the best 90 seconds of Darth Vader I have ever seen in Live Action (I'm not gonna spoil it for Coby ... but you know what I'm talking about) ... it is possibly my favorite moment in all of Star Wars.
36:54 The droid, L3 is played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge who, although Han Solo in this one is NOT Harrison Ford, plays opposite Harrison Ford in the most recent Indiana Jones film.
Hey, Cobie. The character of Dryden Vos was pkayed by Paul Bettany. Fans may know him as the Vision in the Marvel Universe. He also provides comic relief in A KNIGHT'S TALE with the late Heath Ledger. Keep going and enjoy
To learn more about Han & Chewie's early adventures, look for the Han Solo novels by Brian Daley. They were published in 1978 & 1979, before "Empire Strikes Back" was released, and are among the earliest spin-off books. There are also three books about Lando's adventures. They're by L. Neil Smith and were published around 1983, just after "Return of the Jedi" was released.
Yes!! So glad you watched this! I like this movie and was disappointed that the plans for a sequel were scrapped. I wish they'd still make it before the actors get any older. Sucks that Ray Parks (Darth Maul) was fired. Can't wait for your reaction to Rouge One!!!!

Omg finally someone who’s honest about their feelings about this movie! I, too, liked it very much but only kept my thoughts to myself because everyone was taking a big dookie on it when it was released.
A few of the Clone Troopers became trainers for the regular human Stormtroopers. Most of them retired because of their rapid aging and some thrown onto the streets by the Empire because they were no longer viable assets. No family to go back to since they were genetically made in a lab.
Hello Coby, Solo & Rogue One are my top favorites since Disney took over, so I’m glad you liked it as well; this movie takes place 5 years after Revenge of the Sith. And yes that is Darth Maul, he did survived Kenobi’s attack. Maul’s rage helped him survived because he wanted to get revenge back at Kenobi not until Maul’s brother found him & and Maul’s Witch Mother brought him back to full health. Maul is the boss of the Shadow Collective, Qi’ra being his lieutenant after she killed Dryden Vos.
I really enjoyed this one, and never got what peoples problem with it was. It’s a fun adventure with Han, Chewie and Lando. It’s box office suffered because it was too close to the previous movie. I still hope somehow we’ll get a follow up. A Lando series was mentioned, then turned into a movie, and now it’s all up in the air.
Sees someone who looks exactly like Darth Maul, has robotic legs that make robotic sounds, uses the Force to grab a lightsaber, it's a double bladed red lightsaber: That's not Darth Maul.
Do not let ANYONE sway your opinion of the Disney-era movies. There are people whose entire identities are based on review-bombing and trashing every Disney project. Don't apologize for liking these movies. Enjoy them.
Love this movie, the best one Disney has made by far. It's like the original star wars, fun movie, good writing, good actors and characters. The guy they got to play solo was great, some people just won't accept anyone other than harrison ford, which is understandable, but this guy got the essence down even if he doesn't look like a clone of ford (but sometimes he even nails the look). A sequel with maul would have kicked all kinds of ass. Oh yeah, and you are incredibly gorgeous, may the hotness be with you.
Yes that is Warrick Davis who is Wicket and Willow what most people don't know is that his character in the Phantom Menace is the Same Character on Solo a Star Wars Story character name is Weazel
Can't wait for you to watch Andor! Also, a lot of your confusion about stormtroopers and clone troopers will be answered by watching the animated series. In short, which of course includes spoilers from the animates series, the clones are phased out during the start of the Empire. However, some certain clones were kept in positions like training instructors, experiments(on the clones), certain commanding positions if the clone was of high rank within The Republic. Some were used for special military units within the Empire. Some clones managed to remove the chip they had implanted in their brains, which was the thing that allowed the Empire to override "free will" and make the clones unconditionally follow orders. Some of these clones not loyal to the Empire formed insurgent groups, and others directly joined the Rebel Alliance. I don't entirely remember why the Empire decided to stop using clones, but this storyline is explored in "The Bad Batch" which is a sort of spin-off sequel of The Clone Wars.
Don’t listen to the haters. I’ve watched Star Wars since I was a toddler. Born in ‘81… I was thoroughly entertained by, and loved the new films produced by Disney. BTW, that is Maul. You can see why he is present in this timeline if you go back to watch The Clone Wars show. I can’t wait to continue this journey with you.
I'm pretty sure the voice you're trying to identify with is Thandiwe Newton. Such a vast catalog. And a crush of mine. Impossible to stereotype, but I always remember her for the Chronicles of Riddick.
Sure that by that time clone troopers were still there somewhere, and active, but they didn't just age at double speed as they were raised, but that accelerated aging continued, so for all clones is like 20 years passed for them, so all of them are physiologically in their fourties. (Although their age is early twenties).
Unfortunately after the shock of Episode 8, fans were very turned off by that point so that’s why Solo didn’t get a whole lot of attention when it came out. It was very fun in my eyes. But you definitely gotta see Rogue One for sure

to me, he was the best part of the movie he did a great job. With trailers i figured he would be the weakest part, but turns out he was the strongest. Now, i didn't feel any "Han Solo" from him, but he was entertaining.
@@Galiant2010 Eh, that's not how I look at it.
Solo was solid. I liked it. They got the mannerisms of the characters right to me. Glad you enjoyed it!
It has a most peculiar dialect."
And, according to Lucasfilm, Warwick Davis is playing the same character here that he played in The Phantom Menace.
The Palpatine edit when Coby said “do it” lmao
That was awesome.
That freaked me out! I had to watch it again. Funny!
That is Darth Maul. But now he just goes by Maul. He survived being cut in half. Watch the animated Clone Wars series and the Rebels series to see the rest of his story. This moment confused a lot of people who never followed the 2 animated series.
Popcorn Roulette said she'll only be watching the live-action Star Wars.
The robot voice is Phoebe Waller Bridge. You would recognize her in the last Indiana Jones movie ironically enough.
Lucasfilm is hiring everybody!
Stormtroopers are human recruits, trained by Clone Troopers who were gradually phased out of active service; at the time of the original trilogy only a few Stormtroopers were clones, with the only known legion to still contain a significant number of clones being the 501st Legion, a.k.a. "Vader's Fist" (paraphrased from Wikipedia).
han and chewy's relationship is like that of a man and his dog, only solo is the dog haha
37:50 solo's rizz got coby biting her lip 😂
Great movie 🍿 great cast deserved to be a bigger hit
The actor playing young han was really good big shame we didn't get more
The thumbnail gets me 😁😃, such a lovely smile. And she’s 40 yeah? Incredible. She must take care of herself well or have great genetics, or both. That smile though 😄 makes you want to smile back
The owner of the Mos Eisley cantina is actually a Wookiee named Chalmun, lol.
Anti-droid policy :
A deep-seated anti-droid sentiment, also known as droidophobia, existed in some segments of the galactic citizenry.
― Mos Eisley Cantina house rules :
"Leave your droids outside. You don't want Wuher on your case."
"Keep your blaster holstered! Why ask for trouble?"
"Find an empty table or barstool. Crowding other customers will only end in tears."
"Be friendly. Buy a drink for your neighbor at the bar."
"Applaud the band - even if they're way off-key!"
"Make pleasant conversation and try to laugh at bad jokes."
"Tip the bartender, especially if you make a mess."
In Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, the Millennium Falcon landed inside the cave that happened to be that creature. Han Solo tells C-3PO to plug into the Millennium Falcon and afterwards said that ship computer has a particular odd dialect. That's L-3.
No, Solo space monster was a Summa-verminoth. Empire movie cave worm was an Exogorth.
@@bryce3150 He's not talking about the creature. He's talking about the scene then they are inside the Exogorth is when C3PO says that the Millennium Falcon has a "very peculiar dialect". That scene happens when inside the "cave" (Exogorth).
That is in fact Darth Maul. He returned in events that happened in the Clone Wars show.
The opening crawl is reserved for the main Skywalker Saga films
The clones aren’t gone from dying out, they were phased out for non clone volunteers and conscripts for numerous reasons. Accelerated aging made their physical skills & abilities deteriorate faster, they were expensive to make, most had a sense of morality that didn’t mesh with the Empire, etc. though there’s still a small amount serving the Empire
They said Chewie hadn’t been fed in 3 days, but they didn’t say they’d been feeding him people.
The actor is Ron Howard’s brother, Clint
L3’s voice is Phoebe Waller-Bridge
3PO mentioned the spice mines of Kessel in Episode 4.
Warwick Davis is actually reprising his human character Weazel that was in the podrace audience in Phantom Menace
What? Yes, Han killed Beckett. Han shoots first!
Qi’ra’s story is continued in comics. Her backstory when her and Han were separated is explored in a novel.
If you pay very close attention, you can actually see Han’s dice hanging in the Falcon in Episode 4 at one point. It wasn’t till the new films that they were seen up close
She's only seeing the live-action Star Wars. She'll check out videos detailing the important events of Clone Wars, The Bad Batch, and Rebels when she reaches The Mandalorian.
@@EntertainmentFan11 cool. I hope it’s just to avoid a very long time commitment and not a dismissal of animated content

Directed by Ron Howard. Excellent director. He first came to prominence as a child actor in the television series The Andy Griffith show. He played young Opie Taylor, the son of Sheriff Andy Taylor (played by Andy Griffith) in the sitcom The Andy Griffith Show from 1960 through 1968. He also played Ritchie Cunningham on Happy Days from 1974-1980. Check out other excellent movies Ron directed. 🤩
@@bobbelleci9995 Ron Howard was the second and final director. The movie was done by someone else, don't recall his name, and many of the scenes had to be reshot.
He was also directed by Lucas in American Graffiti and is the only one of the Disney Star Wars directors to have Lucas on set and take his advice.
“Are there any clone troopers left? Where are they?” is a great reason to watch things like the Clone Wars, the Bad Batch, Rebels. These are the serial animation format shows, which would be hard to adapt for Popcorn Roulette, but Coby with how beloved this franchise and some of it’s characters seem to have become to you, content from that era will answer your “so what happened after ____” questions and overall scratch the itch.
I love all three I mentioned-Bad Batch is absolutely beautiful and bittersweet but you lose a lot of emotional significance if you don’t watch Clone Wars and Rebels first
***official Clone Wars episode sequence isn’t chronological due to executive-level meddling. You can google a chronological list that tells the story as creative intended, it helps first-timers with novice Star Wars knowledge a LOT.
Or she can be corrected and advised that they are the Clones and move on. That doesn’t require months of show watching.
@@athens_1psvr31 🙄🙄
@@athens_1psvr31 But that's the thing. They're NOT Clones. They're ordinary people who were practically drafted into the Empire.
Massively underrated movie.
The Falcon was made around 60 BBY, so even by the time we see it in RotS it was already about 40 years old.
56:09 Yep, that's Warwick Davis briefly reprising his role from "The Phantom Menace" as Weazel.
I hadn't seen this movie in quite a while and really didn't remember much of the details. When I saw you had made a reaction video, it gave me the excuse to rewatch the film so I can follow along with you. I had forgotten how enjoyable this movie was. It doesn't deserve the grief so many Star Wars "fans" like to heap on it
It was just released at the Nadir of Star Wars. Most of the hate is people that watched the new trilogy and figured this was as bad as those.

There is an unlimited potential of amazing thumbnails in this video from all your reactions Coby! 🤣😂😂😂😛
The guy who plays Wicket and Willow (Warwick Davis) is in all of the Star Wars films except A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. Sometimes he is in a costume and not readily recognizable. I love Watching films with you! Have a great one!!
Yo, his character in this film, Weazel, is the same one from The Phantom Menace! AND he was Yoda in that film for the walk-in shots!
Big fan of Solo, it's just a shame it went through development hell and Ron Howard got parachuted in to fix it but Alden Ehrenreich nailed everything about the character. Hope he gets another shot at playing Solo.
The animated series fill it in between movies and add more as well.
Early Empire: Clone Wars, Bad Batch & Star Wars Rebels
Before the movies like this one or TV shows, there were comic series and game based adventures as well. Plus novels based on Star Wars.
Most of the latter of which are now non-canon, minus the novelizations.
I don’t know if you picked up on it, but in every star wars movie, at least once, somebody says
“I have a bad feeling about this.”
But this is the only movie where Han actually says
“I have a really good feeling about this”
The fans in the theatre all laughed out loud when we heard it 🤣
Every fan when Coby starts watching the sequel trilogy: “I have a bad feeling about this.” (But not for the reason you might think, lol)
This was a solid Star Wars movie. Glad to see somebody enjoying it for what it is supposed to be about. - Thanks Coby
Now with the escape pod gone off the Falcon, it looks exactly like it does in the OT, in the front.
Their path was locked in. That's why even though the ship turned in a different direction it was able to line itself up again.
Oh yes, that's Maul.
The red faced guy in this is actually Maul. You'd need to watch The Clone Wars to find out how he survived.
1:05:21 yes it is.
This movie is way underrated. I think it's because of over-saturation of Star Wars movies and series at the time. I may be biased because Han and Chewie were my favs but an origin story for them? Are you joking? Who doesn't like it?!
One of the primary criticisms was that the origin story was mostly a bulleted list of things we already knew happened or were significant, so even though we saw Lando and Chewie and the Kessler Run, that’s all stuff we already *knew.* They could’ve shown character-defining story content we have no idea about, and unfortunately in this movie it gets a little pandering and overly nostalgic
These are, in a nutshell, the “fair” and thoughtful complaints.
This was an incredible movie that never got the exposure it deserved
@@chard2534 over-saturation? Fans were angry at Lucasfilm after the disaster that was TLJ, so many skipped Solo.
I really liked this movie. I saw it five times in the movie theater. The one word that I would use to describe it is “fun”. I thought Alden did a great job (as did Donald Glover!). I was really hoping for a SOLO 2. Glad you enjoyed it.
Your next movie HAS to be Rogue One. Probably second best behind ESB. Love your content. I’m hooked.
Yes, that was the awesome Warrick Davis (Wicket, Willow, etc) who makes cameos all over Star Wars.
Great reaction video, Coby. I'm glad you enjoyed Solo- it's very underrated. That was indeed Darth Maul or just Maul as he goes by at this point. The lower half of his body is mechanical. I'm looking forward to your reaction to Rogue One.
I’m glad you liked this. This movie is so much fun. If you’re doing Rogue One next, I am so ready for it!
You're my new fav reactionist! I could watch this over and over again because it's so much fun just like you said!
"That guy whatever his name is..." that's Clint Howard, child star of "Gentle Ben" and brother of Ron Howard.
Once again, Coby being perfect. ❤️🔥 I must admit I’m not enamored with the Disney era work, but SOLO was a fun ride!
So yes that was indeed Darth Maul from the Phantom Menace to understand how he came back you gotta watch the Clone wars Series.
OH MY GOD....are we going to go down the "Game of Thrones" road......once you say it , it can't be unsaid.....
I have thoroughly enjoyed watching along with you on your Star Wars journey. Your personality is infectious. The credit crawl is only used in episodes 1-9. All the rest are Star Wars side stories
Well, it definitely settled the "Han shot first" controversy. Han didn't shoot first...Han is the Only one who shot.
Hi Coby, another great reaction video and as always your reactions are genuine and fun to watch. Have a good one mate😉.
The Force Awakens is the first Disney Star Wars movie.
36:54 The droid, L3 is played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge who, although Han Solo in this one is NOT Harrison Ford, plays opposite Harrison Ford in the most recent Indiana Jones film.
This movie is great! The actor does a great job as a young Han Solo!
36:16 No, the Falcon IS Lando's ship. He's just repossessing it from the impound.
The Falcon -was- Lando's ship. ... he lost her fairish, and square shaped
I'm really glad you liked this. Now you're going to get your socks knocked off...with Rogue One!
7:53 Most of them are retired.
Coby
Ron Howard, former child star of Andy Griffith Show to Happy Days now famed director of many movies such as Splash with young Tom Hanks and Cocoon with older actors of Hollywood Past. His younger brother, Clint works often in his movies. Ron's daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard, also actor and now like her father, director. Bryce like her father, Ron working Star Wars' Universe by directing episodes of Star Wars series such as Mandalorian. She is attached to newest Star Wars' series called Skeleton Crew.
I agree… if he names himself “Solo”
I would have loved that.
56:06 Indeed! Warwick Davies is in every Star Wars Movie since Return of the Jedi.
An enjoyable star wars movie. Gets alot of hate but i think its quite enjoyable. Big thumbs up
Do not let ANYONE sway your opinion of the Disney-era movies. There are people whose entire identities are based on review-bombing and trashing every Disney project. Don't apologize for liking these movies. Enjoy them.
💯
Love this movie, the best one Disney has made by far. It's like the original star wars, fun movie, good writing, good actors and characters. The guy they got to play solo was great, some people just won't accept anyone other than harrison ford, which is understandable, but this guy got the essence down even if he doesn't look like a clone of ford (but sometimes he even nails the look). A sequel with maul would have kicked all kinds of ass. Oh yeah, and you are incredibly gorgeous, may the hotness be with you.
34:16 "That guy" is Clint Howard, Ron Howard's brother. As you know, Ron Howard directed this one.
Rogue one is by far Disney’s best movie since they acquired Lucasfilm. I strongly recommend that you watch it.
I'm pretty sure the voice you're trying to identify with is Thandiwe Newton.

The landspeeder that Han drives in the opening chase sequence was designed to look like a Ford Falcon, which was a popular American car in the 1960s
Glad that you appreciated Revenge of the Sith so much
1983 book 'Lando Calrissian and the Flamewind of Oseon' is referenced at the Sabacc table scene. My daughter was born that year...
36:02 no it is his ship.
I mean, who else is going to have all those capes in their closet, and Lando's holo-diary thing? 😂
Sure that by that time clone troopers were still there somewhere, and active, but they didn't just age at double speed as they were raised, but that accelerated aging continued, so for all clones is like 20 years passed for them, so all of them are physiologically in their fourties. (Although their age is early twenties).
I know this channel is all about movie reactions but Coby sure needs to do a full reaction to The Mandalorian and The book of Boba
Unfortunately after the shock of Episode 8, fans were very turned off by that point so that’s why Solo didn’t get a whole lot of attention when it came out. It was very fun in my eyes. But you definitely gotta see Rogue One for sure
