I watched this entire video thinking "I don't remember the Arbiter helping at all when I did this" before remembering that I did this Co-op, so I was the Arbiter.
Cheif and johnson just made friends with arbiter Halo completionist: "so the first thing you wanna do is kill the arbiter" My jaw dropped so hard an then I started laughing cause he was serious about it too
Watching this after watching his older guide, this is sooooo much more in depth. Silver's commentary has improved immensely over the years. Thank you Silver for putting yourself through LASO hell again for all of us!
@@ugiustuskeiserus8066 Tbh I mean both, i find halo 2 laso more fun because it has more intresting skips and exploits when halo 3 is mostly just harder than legendary and the fact that you cant tell how much shield you have left is pissing me off too
You never know what you have till it's gone. CE and 2 were frustrating LASOs and that beeping sound for shields was something I thought I hated, then I started this LASO and found myself longing for that annoying pitch as an indicator.
*With mythic actually working as opposed to when this guide came out, brutes take a lot more damage, but noob combo still works. *don't kill any of the grunts at the beginning skip, just backsmack the brute and run, if you stay around too long or kill too many grunts (or your allies kill too many) it spawns the phantoms and enemies at the end of the section *In the last section when you come across the bridge/where Johnson is being held, make sure you finish off as many people from up top as you can then jump down. On 2 of my playthroughs, the Brute chieftain will get stuck running into a box on the lower level of the entrance to the bridge, usually there's another brute there w/ him, chieftain is facing away from you stuck in an animation running into a wall. Use the box for cover and circle around, quickly backsmack the chieftain, then circle back and run back to where you dropped down. If you do it fast enough the other brute will only get a few shots off at you. *Also, arbiter will disappear sometimes. Save quit and resume.
So after studying Silver's well-made guides for a while I finally decided to begin my LASO journey last week, luckily two of my buddies were down for doing it, so thankfully we had a three man team, so while Silvers guides are more than enough to get you to the holy land of LASO Master, I'm going to share my experiences on the Co-Op run we did, as the gameplay can vary compared to Solo, anyways Sierra 117 was an okay introduction to Halo 3 LASO, we did not have too much trouble with it tbh, not having an invincible A.I. Arbiter is one downside of course, but you can get around it with good coordination and teamwork, the last section with the Hammer Chieftain was tricky until we decided to lure him under the bridge and have one person backstab him that person then took his invincibility and ran straight for Johnson's cell, and it was smooth sailing after that!! Good luck to anyone starting this, whether you are braving it alone or with friends, just keep on going and you will get it, it's easily the most enjoyable and satisfying thing in any Halo game(when it goes well that is lol) thanks again Silver for your continued hard work on putting these guides together, they are much appreciated!!
Haha just did this last night with my brother. Yeah we also did the exact same thing with luring the hammer brute under the bridge. Great minds think alike
I want to do LASO co-op, but none of the people i know who own the MCC are insane enough to do it with me. And solo just seems way too painful, but who knows maybe one day
Halo CE and 2 down thanks to Silver now to begin 3! I was so use to all the enemies being cloaked in H2 I accidentally shot the Arbiter while he was invisible. 😂
Found a skip! When you get to the bridge in the forest with the crashed pelican, under the bridge has a rock, use the brute shot and jump on the rock, and shoot yourself up on the bridge. There is a sniper jackel though.
Completed this right now. Took 1:48 mins then I accidentally forgot to pause after a death near the end. 2nd run went smoother. 1 hour and 48 seconds -1232 points lol
The part where you kill the two sniper jackals while jumping in and out of the water are VERY hard shots. I tried it a shit load of times and couldn’t do it. But I found that you can stay in the water and use the floor of the pillbox as cover to shoot the jackals from a standstill. Apparently, they didn’t see me as they never shot at me at all (and they are super-fast on the trigger on LASO as I’m sure you know). Also, I find it much easier to jump out of the water on the other side of the waterfall as you don’t need a grenade or brute shot to get up there (plus, the way you went, it’s easy to bump your head on the bottom of the curb and not make the jump).
Excellent as always, many thanks for the guide. I'm baffled why on earth did I get the "Flipyap" achievement after the first encounter on this level. XD
I been waiting for this too bad I already beat Halo 3 laso using your practice run recently.but I'm glad that you're putting out these new videos still.
Wanted to add that in the Sniper Alley part where you’re gathering beam rifles, if you see a beam rifle and can’t get to it, you can knock it down with the brute shot.
I was unlucky to not have spare beam rifles for the last section... but lucky enough that Arbiter basically threw the Brute Chieftain to the river just beating him with the sword
Got super lucky. Arbiter somehow got behind the gravity hammer brute during his rampage at the end of the level. I couldn't find him until I saw his corpse next to the invincibility.
I had to kill again my Arbiter and at some point I run out of ammo, but everything worked our all right! Thanks so much again. i start to feel like I owe you money jajaja
With the section after the jackal snipers, there is a downed pelican with a sniper rifle, multiple BRs, and some grenades and ARs. After doing the jump between the two trees and assassinating the enemies you could go to the pelican to gear back up instead of having to backtrack all the way to the river where the phantoms could come in.
Yeah I didnt mention that because if you go over there you spawn in the last wave of enemies and dont get the jump on them. But that works if you've killed them all, lol.
Done with this one, I had a carabine at the final section and I wouldn't recommend that over the beam rifle. The carabine is so unprecise over long distances, shooting at the jackals felt like a coin toss.
I only had 2 sniper jackals spawn in the jackal forest section, and one of them ended up being on top of that impossible to reach rock, but I managed to grab a beam rifle from one of the jackals that spawns on top of the cave to the final section. 27/46
I think Mythic might have been bugged when you made these guides. Doesn’t change that much in terms of the strategies, but it does make it more frustrating.
Hey weird bug I found; not sure if if its new but when holding any 3rd person weapon (turret / flamethrower) if you move diagonally so W+A or W+D then you move at the same speed as regular moving without the turret :)
At 22:47 to the left of the brute that he’s shooting at is a downed pelican with BR ammo. On my play through Arby got shot down to some rocks down there where the pelican is at and he glitched. He wouldn’t move. I ended up just pushing him off the end of the map and he spawned back in, still had his sword and helped finish off the rest of the enemies. Just fyi in case someone runs in to that same scenario
you don't get paid enough to do what you do, like on top of doing every achievement, you do the legendary and also walkthroughs and then REDO them when they re-release. crazy
uH... Jumping back up to go get arbiter in the beginning was the hardest part about this mission. You just jump up like its nothing and I'm here 45 mins later unable to do this jump.
Either the playlist has suffered an update since this guide was released, or you are out of playlist with mythic off. similar to your ODST guide, enemies take more shots to kill than shown in the video, affecting parts of your guide. Good example of this occurring in ODST is that wraiths and hunters take 2 spartan laser rounds no matter where you target them, and in this video it takes 7 punches to break the arbiter's shield, while in your video it takes 5. This gives me the impression that the rest of this guide is going to be affected just as ODST was.
And this is where my Halo 3 LASO run stops. Pelican got shot while trying to land and is now not hovering in the right position for Johnson to hop in, tried to reload 20 times, and tried to shoot and melee the pelican into position myself.
after doing the despawn at the very begining, why do you jump back in bounds behind the rock the brute is on instead of on the same level as the brute? jumping down right next to the brute makes back smacking them much easier and more consistent from my own experience
Note to anyone doing this guide, with no HUD I use my monitor's built in reticle and was having the hardest time trying to get headshots. It would seem, at least with the covenant carbine, that dead center isn't where the shots were going. I had to use roughly the bottom half of the crosshair to get consistent headshots, not dead center. I am on PC as well.

I've been having trouble getting the save/quit after death trick to work on PC... I had no issues with Halo 2, and in Halo CE the only time I ran into trouble was if I had died ten times on a single checkpoint. Do I need to do it faster for Halo 3? Am I doing it TOO fast? The game doesn't just quit to menu when I tell it to, either way, it does a fade to black first... is that what's getting me reset to the start of the mission?
I watched this entire video thinking "I don't remember the Arbiter helping at all when I did this" before remembering that I did this Co-op, so I was the Arbiter.
dieoskodi I tried the old tutorial of halo 3 few months ago and it was pain without the arbiter , I wait the update of mcc and enjoy

Very helpful. Hardest part of this mission is easily the end, especially since it's extremely hard to make Arbiter actually use his sword
