I love that she's doing clothes from Wal-Mart, it's something a lot of people can afford & find exactly similar to what she has. It's good for learning & going along with her. She made them so cute! I hope we see some more walmart or similar stores.
And her alterations did not cost much either. The first top, the only supply she had to buy was the thin elastic. (and many home sewists would already have it).
I'm curious if April will try the bag flip? 😉 Nava Rose posted a video in Sept, and I thought it came out really well; flipping a mock Louis Vuitton bag into a skirt and bralette set.
The tan dress is so cute after! Random but here’s an idea I would be interested in: a video on sewing foots. Maybe your faves/most useful and how to use them?
I'm older too and follow her. She is so creative and inspires me. I am 56 lol. I joined her patreon site to support her. I have learned so much from her videos.
The great secret of this video is that everything seems more expensive when it's tailored for the body it's on. What's awesome is that, as a person who feels more self conscious about weight, nearly every "but-make-it-sexier" look here works for me. The absent panel in the seafoam top wouldn't feel too exposing since the top could be tailored right up to smallest point on my upper body, then left to hang loose and taper my body perfectly, rather than being cropped -- less work than what April does. The same trick works even more obviously in her alteration of the peasant top, where one only needs to put the bottom elastic line in the smallest place on the body to make a genius false waist. I particularly like it with that top, since this kind of shapeless top tends to be hefted toward people worried about weight and everybody can gather it like this and be like-- "Look! trendy and sexy! Body under there!" without sacrificing joy to something that holds the body in in hot weather.
The princess seams on the shorts were a brilliant addition ! I've been trying to decide how to alter several pairs of thrifted trousers and never even thought of princess seams. And wow, that dress transformation was incredible!
Hi April! You truly are a gem! Because of you, I purchased my very first sewing machine. I have a lot of clothes that I no longer wear but because of your videos, I can finally turn them into something better! Thank you!!
I love, love, love the pirate shirt and paper bag shorts transformation. Well done. The sad truth is it’s much cheaper to alter store bought clothes than to sew from scratch.
A lot of the time this is true. There are ways to save money, though. Whenever I wear something out, I strip it down. I have a box with a bunch of bag hardware, zippers, buttons, etc that I've rescued from clothes that are beyond repair. I also save any fabric that can be rescued (like pants legs, for example). You can sometimes find fabric and/or items to make or remake while you're thrifting. Also, look for sales- I found an adorable striped jersey fabric that was on clearance for 50 cents a yard! And don't forget the stores like Joann's that have great coupons! Those can really save you some money, which is always welcome!
That's why places like goodwill are so useful! You are reusing other people's clothes to make your own design. I think making from scratch can also be good, though. I think it helps you understand how the garments come together, and how sewing in general works.
While April is undeniably talented, part of the reason these turn out so good is because April is just so darn gorgeous! I feel like I’d look like a potato in that dress and a pirate in the top. 😋 On her though, it’s perfection! That’s the magic of making your own clothing to fit, and being so pretty.
Yes! I’ve been wanting you to transform something from a store for a while. I feel like it’s easier to do the same transformation and cheaper in the long run.
OMG. On the last dress, when you said "I'm sewing down the seams BEFORE opening up the slit" 🤯😮 I'm so grateful for this tip. Like, of course, great move. I'll be doing it this way in the future. Thank you!
I love videos like these which show how a few changes can transform an item of clothing. I also liked how this showed clothes from Wal-Mart because I've often wondered if clothes bought from there or similar places could stand up to these kinds of adjustments. It's good to know we don't have to be scared to try!
This is brilliant ! I am pretty tall and even though I am on the slim slide, clothes usually fit me if they are long enough but I really admire your creative mind and skill. You are inspiring !
I’ve had the same problems with clothes from good stores being off grain, but not noticeable until after washing. So annoying. Love your transformations.
Love your videos!! You are so clear and show your work really well. I did the wedding dress alteration for myself as I am pregnant. Your tips come in handy.
You are so amazing! Every time I watch one of your videos I feel so inspired. You make high fashion seem attainable even on a budget. Thank you for posting your videos!!
I really love this video concept. You made dramatic improvements in all the clothes but with minimal cost and effort. You didn't have to cut them up and totally remake them- they just needed tweaks.
Yolanda Cartomancy Happy September Birthday 🎂. I’m just viewing this video and I’m 65. So great to see Seniors still sewing, quilting & crocheting, me for grandchildren’s Christmas gifts.
The fact that the fabric went uneven after you washed it points to the (dubious) quality of cheap clothing... You brought these items up a notch for sure!
Love that you keep it simple but still want to outcome to look nice. Yes, a seam ripper is often necessary in order to keep the guidelines. Good instructions while keeping the video short and to the point.
April, your transformations are beautiful. Thank you for these voiceovers. Even though I love watching the actual transformations, these videos are very educational for me. I am learning a lot of terminology. "Speaking" sewing is a whole new world for me but I guess we all had to learn it from the beginning.
The first redo It looks way better after you redo it the first shirt looks amazing... way better than before...I love them all especially the second one looks phenomenal all so amazing one after another you rocked it all ..
My fav was the white blouse! I would pay for your modifications! It was Gorgeous. I actually like the before and after of the dress. It would have been cool if you put the buttons where the dress meets the spaghetti straps. Great job on all of them!
Loved the shorts and dress transformation!!!! Could you possibly do a tutorial on what a princess seam is and how to do it? I loved the look it gave to the clothes!!
Well done April. Sometimes I like the fabric of a dress and, not the dress etc. If I'm in the mood to sew I'll try what you did. I would quicker buy a bigger size if my size is sold out and alter it.. Good going.
April, great job on everything. I really like how you fixed the white top. I think the princess seam on the shorts was so smart. Everything looks so good on you! Take care & God Bless.
Hi April!! Wonderful vlog.. Glad to see someone else who has to alter clothes from Wal-Mart.. I’m plus size & once in a blue moon will purchase something & no matter what have to alter it somehow.... 💜💜💜🧵🧵🧵
Hahaa I can toootally see this, it's low-key a genius business idea, selling that blouse in an 'upcycle kit' with some elastic and thread and a card with instructions for like 3 different style options, selling it for more money while saving on actual manufacturing costs.. Obviously I hate this idea because you're not actually saving and upcycling trash, but yeah it could make money.
After this video if Walmart don't contact and hire you for fashion advice and design I would be surprised. Lady you just got yourself a job in Walmart and you fix your own price. Kudos to you ❤️.
I alter clothing all the time. In fact, I am watching this video after altering two shirts. I have a large bust but a small rib cage, and I am short-waisted. It can be hard to find something that fits everywhere at once. I've learned a lot over the years of what it takes to make something flattering, so now I focus on whether something fits in the bust. If it does, I know I can fix the rest with easy fixes like elastic, tucks, darts, taking in the sides or shoulders, removing sleeves, cropping sleeves, whatever. Knowing how to sew is a gamechanger.
I love that she's doing clothes from Wal-Mart, it's something a lot of people can afford & find exactly similar to what she has. It's good for learning & going along with her. She made them so cute! I hope we see some more walmart or similar stores.

I love that this one we can follow along with. I'd certainly love to see a few more of these sprinkled in throughout her normal videos!
It's still much cheaper to buy from a thrift store. Who wants to pay the regular price for an item they have to alter?
I love the peasant blouse transformation
Thank you
That was gorgeous.
Yes! It looks sooo much prettier!
Out of all the clothes flips I watch on RUclips I find April's work to be the cleanest and most creative.
Her instructions are also very clear
I'm curious if April will try the bag flip? 😉 Nava Rose posted a video in Sept, and I thought it came out really well; flipping a mock Louis Vuitton bag into a skirt and bralette set.
Ever seen Evelyn Wood’s work?
Preach
I swear, April is a magician 😱
I am sure on it too 😊
She has proven time after time that it absolutely IS possible to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear!
The tan dress is so cute after! Random but here’s an idea I would be interested in: a video on sewing foots. Maybe your faves/most useful and how to use them?
Check out Evelyn wood
You can check out my new vlog ‘Istanbul’ part and support my channel guys 🎞 Love you all 🧡🧚🏼♀️
Yeollbae I have many foots but mostly only use the regular one :) except for zippers that’s one foot you should have!
The original peasant blouse kinda looks like a baptism robe.
I was thinking that, too!
So clever! Love your eye for fashion . . . and I'm probably older than your grandmother! Huge fan!
I’m glad I’m not the only Gramma who likes her videos! Hehehe. She’s very clever. 👍
I'm older too and follow her. She is so creative and inspires me. I am 56 lol. I joined her patreon site to support her. I have learned so much from her videos.
@@jsorensens2 OMG! I personally use "Gramma" and not Grandma. So nice to meet another like me. She IS so clever. Love her.
@@yolandadicostanzo1347 I'll be 70 in September!
Stephanie Jo Rountree Yay another Gramma! 😁

@@LaynieFingers We all need to buy less fast fashion. Great job at that!
@@annieharover6617 And another plus to thrifting is the clothes have been washed so many times there is no chance of shrinkage, like April experienced
You made walmart clothes look 2x more expensive! I'm blown away like a leaf in the wind
I loved the peasant blouse adjustment

I am gobsmacked by just how much of a change you made on these pieces! You really inspire me to get more hands-on with my clothes!
The white shirt looked like a completely different piece of clothing! Insane what a few changes can do. Very talented! 💜
The white top transformation was absolute genius. Very cute!
I absolutely loved this Walmart transformation. Every piece was not too difficult but creative and completely transformed the garment 😍😍
Yes! I’ve been wanting you to transform something from a store for a while. I feel like it’s easier to do the same transformation and cheaper in the long run.
The dress transformation was simple yet intricate and quite magical to be honest lol

That was my number one take-away from this video! So simple, I can't believe I over-looked this all these years!
April, you definitely have an eye for fashioning these clothes to your taste, very talented! So enjoyable to watch your videos. Thank you for sharing.
I love this concept. Perfect for people whose only local store is Walmart and whose Walmart is out of fabric due to mask demand.
I love how simple the transformation was for the peasant blouse - Feel like it’s something even I could do

Wow! Great transformations! More of these videos please! Clearance racks at Walmart have $1 items!..with your magical hands anything is possible!!
It amazes me how you can transform some of these pieces. They always look so beautiful when you're finished!

I love all your videos, and your patience to transform all these pieces!
I enjoy sewing! Thanks for your ideas!
This was an amazing idea and all the transformations were beautiful. Please do more!!!
I would legit die for the white top 😭
You just increased the value of every piece you transformed! Amazing style. Love them all. My fav would be the lace top and dress.
I have that same last dress but their “winter” version with sleeves 😂 definitely going to change it up like yours!
I really love this video concept. You made dramatic improvements in all the clothes but with minimal cost and effort. You didn't have to cut them up and totally remake them- they just needed tweaks.
I am in love with that last dress! Pair that with some boots and babam, super cute!
All so cute! My favorite was the dress. The peasant blouse would alsi look cute with keyhole cut-outs where the shoulder meets the arms. Great job!
That after transformation white blouse is everything. I need to buy sth like this RIGHT NOW.
It's amazing how the clothes looked fine before and I didn't see how it could get better and you made each outfit way better.
The peasant top transformation was my fav from here ❤️ Looks perfect for the summer.
I’ve been eying that body con dress forever trying to figure out what I would do to change it. This is perfect 👌
You did a fantastic job 👍
Wow you did an incredible job! It's so wild how different the white top and tan dress look after your adjustments.
I love how completely different and much nice the white blouse looked. Also the changes looked like something I could do.
A freaking badass!! Every single transformation blowed me away. I love what you did with the white blouse😍😍Always look forward to your videos
The dress transformation was my favorite! It really came much better than the original design. I love your videos, April

The white shirt looks FABULOUS, and I actually might do it myself. It’s such a versatile piece
April i really love you, because you have taught me how to sew with your videos. I now know how to sew a short
The moons and stars fabric clips she uses are so cute 🥰

Love love the white blouse transformation
Great job! This honestly just shows you that Walmart needs some fresh eyes in their fashion department.

That dress is a clear winner!👏🏼
I love all the transformations of the clothes plus the easy to follow instructions. You're definitely talented. 😍💟

The white shirt turned out SO CUTE
Especially love the peasant blouse💕
That first lace top- wow, you took half of it away and yet it looks more modest than "before".
Ive been watching you for years. I really hope you don't transition to buying new things to alter. I love your thrifted things.
Wow.. It's amazing... You are so creative... Love your work 😍😍😍😍
Great video April! Keep it up and I would like to see more "Walmart" clothes transformation series, I enjoyed it so much
I actually really love these transformations
I'm obsessed with the white top and the beige dress! Amazing work as always April!!!
Wow! I am impressed. I actually bought that first top a month ago and already gave it away bc it wasn't quite right on me. You really made it work!

Walmart, no. I could see them selling this at An art store like Michaels or something
That's all of their clothes really lol I see a lot of videos upcycling Walmart jeans, hoodies, and jackets
oh no please don't give them ideas 💀
After this video if Walmart don't contact and hire you for fashion advice and design I would be surprised. Lady you just got yourself a job in Walmart and you fix your own price. Kudos to you ❤️.
I am mind blown about that white peasant blouse. It went from meh to elegant and unique. :o
