Wow! Impressive to see a fellow prospector move into smelting and metallurgy. Working with the elements man! That’s great work and your office has a phenomenal view too! I’ve been through Cairns years ago, but this has me craving a revisit to Aus.
I have a year’s-worth of super heavies to process down and am hoping to have enough for a small button too. Thanks for sharing (I’m always learning) and congrats on the button too!
Ps. I have NO smelting experience, but I’ve seen some folks throw their mold over the open port on top of the kiln prior to pouring metal out of the crucible. Jason, from MBMMLLC has a lot of videos showing his smelting process and flux recipes for refining and upgrading his gold too. Personally, I don’t have enough gold to smelt down yet, but it’s videos like this that keep me going back out for more!
    AUstralia! 🙌🏼 Great work!

Thank you, I'm just having a go at it. It is even easier if you read the instructions first, then again! Still, I am proud of my button. I can always add to it!
Thanks for watching and commenting. It's most appreciated.
      Cheers Andy

It did work out well. The button came up sweet in some acid. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers, mate. When are you out again

@andypandyAU.6669 hopefully be out one day soon, I've been crook since November. Got crohns disease and it's a bit up and down at the moment. It has my back all locked up. I've done a few 3 hour trips down at my local but was more for sanity than anything else. Once I've got this flare under control I'm planning a 4-5 day trip on foot Levi style. Got my eye on something fairly remote 🤔 worst part about being stuck at home is all the new spots I find doing research between you guys uploading videos. Cheers Andy

I feel for you, mate. Anytime you're up for a day out, let me know. Maybe we can hook up and get out together and chase some gold. I have been "chased by the black dog" for a while. I know it's not a chronic disease, but it can be quite difficult to get motivated. Starting the channel has truly helped me find myself again. What part of Melbourne are you in?
      Cheers Andy

@andypandyAU.6669 the black dog is a bastard That's for sure. Prospecting has been the best thing to clear my noggin of cloudy thoughts. I'm out in the Yarra Valley, not quite city but too close to be counted as rural. Id definitely be keen to catch up to catch some yellow. Do you know if there are any meet-ups in the works and what area are you calling home?

I am near Broadford on the side of the Hume hwy. I don't know of any meet-ups. But I would love to catch up somewhere, sometime, somehow. Cheers

I did not build it, I purchased it from Aussie detectorist in nsw ,Australia. A complete "HOBBO'S" kit. You just have to get the map gas bottles. Good luck

I have a vial with an ounce of alluvial gold in it , mostly flyshit.
I'm not so sure it looks better as a one ounce button.

I do like the look of it in its raw form, but this was an experiment. That worked. I am happy with the result. Thanks for watching and commenting

I can't imagine doing that with my gold dust, every time I have sold on ebay, paydirt sellers contact me wanting the fine stuff to bag up, as long as you're having I guess.

    • @andypandyAU.6669
      @andypandyAU.6669  6 месяцев назад +1

I did try to sell it to a prominent "RUclips" player in Vic, said yes for sure, then yes, then no, I have enough now. So I thought it could make a video that would be good to put up on the channel? I had fun doing it and will keep adding to the button. Until I have an ounce bar. I didn't really want to sell it anyway! Cheers Rod , I hope you're well

Magic word is "fun" So there is no right or wrong, just choices, the ebay auction can be fun, I had $79 to $99 for a gram, like I said the paydirt guys love the gold dust, but as you mention a one once bar would be handy as well, cheers Andy!@@andypandyAU.6669
