Hello sir, last month I had ultrasound where I found my left kidney is slightly small (91/38mm) than right. After consultation with nephrologist, KFT and Doppler ultrasound was performed along with urine test. KFT and urine was normal, uric acid was high. Doppler ultrasound showed paucity of blood flow in left kidney. No evidence of renal stenosis is found. Left renal artery is small in caliber throughout it's course. I had kidney stones in 2016 which got discharged through urine after homeopathic treatment. Now i have few small stones in RK. Pls suggest how to control further shrinkage of left kidney and maintain it's remaining function. My bp was 144/93 on the day of consultation, but in next few days it came in normal range 130/80. I am overweight. Pls suggest something.
Sir, I'm from India. My father has diabetes and hypertension. Developed Prostate issue 2 yrs back. Medicinal Treatment was given to shrink the prostate size...it came down upto 35. Sir, i was suffering from kidney stones in my left kidney since an year so physician recommended me ultra sound and i got to know my left kidney size is 8.4and right kidney is 10.4 and recently in past week i have done ultrasound to know my stone status, still stones of 4mm are stucked in left kidney and i can see my present left kidney size is 6.3. In November 2023, i went to nephrologist he recommended me kidney profile test and urine test. He said everything is normal and he recommended me dtpa split gfr scan to know gfr of left kidney. So the left kidney gfr was 24% and right kidney was 75%. He said me don't worry, just drink 3-4 litres of water daily and do workout.he also said me that my left kidney size is smaller from birth and just said me don't worry, my age is 23 years old and i am also suffering from stage 2 hammeroids and kidney stones. Please guide me, Is this normal?

Assalamualaikum,Sir.My father has been diagnosed with this problem. His right kidney is almost half than the normal one. He recurrently feels left ant. chest pain. But his Xray nad ECG reports are normal. As the right renal artetry is the direct branch of abdominal aorta that has a direct connection with heart. To increase filtration rate of right kidney (when needed) the heart has to contract more forcefully to increase the pressure. Could it ( more contraction) be the cause of his chest pain?
Thanks for watching. For god sake please see a cardiologist for your father's chest pain and stop confusing human anatomy. Your father can possibly have a real heart issue from kidney disease and poorly controlled blood pressure. See a cardiologist and as for stress test and further work up. Also check your fathers kidney function and urinalysis to make sure he doesn;t have kdiney disease.

Sir it varies. If it is a single kidney then it would stay the same size or may change a little. If both kidneys are small then it is a different story. But please see a nephrologist and get the full check up done.

Assalamualaikum Dr. Awais sir, Myself Dr.Ahmes raza My sister of 20 yrs diagnosed with atrophic kidey lft side 4 yrs back (2019)and pain on same side on/off but pain become severe in 2022 and there was no pathology everything was ruledout the cause of pain was not being diagnosed finally Dr decided to remove the atrophic kidney by saying that cause may be due to it. After removal now pain is not in lft bcoz no kidney now its in rt side.from next day of surgery now its been more than a year and cause of pain in rt side is not being identified and everything is normal on investigation.every 3 to 6 months we go for usg kft everything is fine but pain cause is not being evaluated. No IVF has no effect on kidneys but pregnancy will be tough because you have only one kidney. So you have to be careful and do your pregnancy under the care of a nephrologist.

Hello sir, last month I had ultrasound where I found my left kidney is slightly small (91/38mm) than right. After consultation with nephrologist, KFT and Doppler ultrasound was performed along with urine test. KFT and urine was normal, uric acid was high. Doppler ultrasound showed paucity of blood flow in left kidney. No evidence of renal stenosis is found. Left renal artery is small in caliber throughout it's course. I had kidney stones in 2016 which got discharged through urine after homeopathic treatment. Now i have few small stones in RK. Pls suggest how to control further shrinkage of left kidney and maintain it's remaining function. My bp was 144/93 on the day of consultation, but in next few days it came in normal range 130/80. I am overweight. Pls suggest something.

Sir, I'm from India. My father has diabetes and hypertension. Developed Prostate issue 2 yrs back. Medicinal Treatment was given to shrink the prostate size...it came down upto 35. But, there was urine retention for last 3 months.
Now, one kidney is shrinked, bladder walls are thickened and there is catheterization for 3 weeks.
Doctor advised for Urodynamic test. But for that urine culture keeps coming positive hence delay in diagnosis.
Another doctor advised for surgery.
I'd appreciate if you can help us what should we do since both doctors are giving different advices.

Sir, i was suffering from kidney stones in my left kidney since an year so physician recommended me ultra sound and i got to know my left kidney size is 8.4and right kidney is 10.4 and recently in past week i have done ultrasound to know my stone status, still stones of 4mm are stucked in left kidney and i can see my present left kidney size is 6.3. In November 2023, i went to nephrologist he recommended me kidney profile test and urine test. He said everything is normal and he recommended me dtpa split gfr scan to know gfr of left kidney. So the left kidney gfr was 24% and right kidney was 75%. He said me don't worry, just drink 3-4 litres of water daily and do workout.he also said me that my left kidney size is smaller from birth and just said me don't worry, my age is 23 years old and i am also suffering from stage 2 hammeroids and kidney stones. Assalamualaikum,Sir.My father has been diagnosed with this problem. His right kidney is almost half than the normal one. He recurrently feels left ant. chest pain. But his Xray nad ECG reports are normal. As the right renal artetry is the direct branch of abdominal aorta that has a direct connection with heart. To increase filtration rate of right kidney (when needed) the heart has to contract more forcefully to increase the pressure. Could it ( more contraction) be the cause of his chest pain?
Thanks for watching. For god sake please see a cardiologist for your father's chest pain and stop confusing human anatomy. Your father can possibly have a real heart issue from kidney disease and poorly controlled blood pressure. See a cardiologist and as for stress test and further work up. Also check your fathers kidney function and urinalysis to make sure he doesn;t have kdiney disease.

My sister of 20 yrs diagnosed with atrophic kidey lft side 4 yrs back (2019)and pain on same side on/off but pain become severe in 2022 and there was no pathology everything was ruledout the cause of pain was not being diagnosed finally Dr decided to remove the atrophic kidney by saying that cause may be due to it.
After removal now pain is not in lft bcoz no kidney now its in rt side.from next day of surgery now its been more than a year and cause of pain in rt side is not being identified and everything is normal on investigation.every 3 to 6 months we go for usg kft everything is fine but pain cause is not being evaluated.
