They really do have decent video. And honestly, as long as it shoots good enough footage to get some decent end results, that is what matters. At least for me.
I just bought 4 of them I hope that they will do on my bass boat to film fishing trips AND I hope the volume/ sound will pick me up and will be able to hear it on the videos that I make with them. Thanks for your review.
Very nice presentation! I have this little guy and unlike some negative users I like it. I have yet to figure out how to keep the camera on when attached to my windshield without timing out so I can always activate with the wrist remote.
Awesome review! I was looking at this action cam to take on my Yosemite hikes as a GoPro alternative. Thanks for giving an honest outline of this camera, it helped me decide to go ahead with my purchase! 👍🏻
I just bought one and now waiting to receive it. I'll keep you posted on my results after using it for a time. Great Video, thanks for sharing,my friend!
That was a excellent video speaking about this camera.Well Done Sir.I just bought is camera, $60.00 and 50 piece assor.kit on Amazon for $23.00. Very happy with both items.
Excellent review. I have the previous version of the Akaso and I'm amazed every time I use it. This newer model looks like it's even better than the one I have. I lost my remote control to my Akaso and cannot find a replacement. There are other remotes that look similar or exactly like the one I lost but they don't work with the akaso. Perhaps if I got this newer modelthe included remote would work with the older one. Anyway, thanks for the excellent review.
I have been considering buying an action cam to use when fishing to record my catches. I found that the cheaper ones ($20-$30 range) do not have very good video or a remote, which are my two main criteria. From what I have seen, this camera is nearly as good or perhaps just as good as a GoPro costing 3-4 times as much. A friend of mine has a GoPro, but his doesn't have either a viewing screen or a remote. The only negative is the fisheye effect, but that can be corrected with good free video editing software such as HitFilm 4 Express or Davinci Resolve 12.5. When using Fisheye (distortion) correction, you lose a small amount of the edges of the video as it gets cropped maybe 5%-10%. That is a small price to pay for a better video. BTW, your video has helped confirm that this is probably the best action cam for the money.
Picked one up from Amazon the other day. I'll be using it on a holiday to Scotland next week; I'm viewing this as an introduction device, but as you say, the price was good, and the features seem easy enough to use :)
Got one from Amazon £40 GBP, a bargain, like you said the sound is decent enough.. but don't expect to get decent sound, in the waterproof casing, here in the UK mines always in the waterproof casing, as I only use it for cycling.. great review by the way... You can see examples of my commuting to work and back pretty boring, but gives you an indication of how it performs at night too.
Waiting to receive mine. Going to try to use it mounted to a backstop and film my daughters softball games and to take to the beach for some beach video. I’ll post some video when I figure it all out.
Thanks for the review. I have one on the way and it's basically gonna be my b-roll camera. My phone is still my main vlogging "camera". I'm interested in seeing how many uses I find for it.
I have this camera with a different manufacturer name and can not get it to record more than 6minutes 36seconds of video no matter what settings i use. HELP!!!
How good is the waterproof case ? I read some reviews on Amazon saying the case flooded have you had any issue with the case ? This is my major concern thanks
Nice informative video. 👍🏻 Just purchased one. There seem to be 100’s on Amazon, all to a similar spec. Purchased at a great price so no great loss if it turns out poor. TBH, only needed to provide video functionality on bike rides as the U.K. road system is cut throat with jay walking & phone zombies all too common. More a purchase for evidential reasons really and hoping to never have to use it for that purpose. ☹️
I bought one and extra accessories for $108.20 on amazon total and also a micro 128g sd card thats formatted already for the camera i like it its small easy to put in small areas
I wouldn't recommend this for that purpose. There's no external mic input and the internal mic probably wouldn't work well for interviews.. it'd pick up a lot of background noise. Plus everything records with a wide angle fish-eye, so you'd probably want to correct that in post.. extra work.
Honestly man, if you're just getting started, use a smartphone. Pretty much anything within the last 4 years or so are going to have decent cameras.. front facing for vlogging and rear for your interviews. You can also use external microphones with them that will vastly increase you're audio quality which, in some circumstances, is more important than the video quality. If you want to get something dedicated just buy a used one, don't worry about the SIM, and just use it over WiFi. As you gain experience and figure out exactly what you want, then you can upgrade down the road. 😉
Just unboxed my camera and installed a 8g micro sd card. My camera only has 2 video resolutions to choose from 1080P 30fps and 720P 60fps. I don't have the other choices you show. I hooked it up to the APP ismart DV and it also only has the same two resolution choices. Have you heard of this before?
It's actually been rock solid, I'm very happy with it. I do wish the battery lasted a little longer, but with them including two in the box it's really not that big of a deal. I've yet to find something I couldn't mount it to, the mounts that it comes with cover pretty much everything. :) I've had this for about 4-5 months (had it for a couple of months before the review) and would still recommend it.
I bought one not too long ago. I was using it today and my dumbass dropped it on the concrete after filming a video. Now some of my pictures and video are not showing up on my sd card. Also any new videos I record are not showing up on my computer. Its showing up on the actual playback on the camera but doesnt show up on my computer. I hope its just an sd card problem and not a camera problem. Any help would be appreciated.
Ok. One last question and I subscribed to your channel. If I want to playback long videos with the devise I can't. Do I need to buy a computer or could I use a tablet?
Great, thanks for subscribing! 😀 You can use anything that you can read a card or that you can use the app with to transfer the files. If you have a tablet, or even a smart phone, with a card reader, you could copy over the videos that way. There is also the app that you can use to copy the videos over via WiFi as well.. so yes, you could use just a tablet and don't necessarily need a computer.
Unfortunately there's no option for external mic. You could always use a recorder and then sync up the audio and video in post... But not very practical for an action cam. 😉
Yo considering it doesn't have a stabilizer how good is this camera really for action, got one but dont want to take it out of the box if its to choppy for my Mountain bike rides?
@@fromagperspective9428 I use it for helmet cam video on RUclips...but I have seen some crap from people who mount it on their handle bars for Mountain Bikes...I guess it depends.
Hey I'm sorry, it actually is MOV, I had MP4 on the brain when I wrote the reply. Sorry about that, but the part about being able to edit directly is still true, at least on my system.
They really do have decent video. And honestly, as long as it shoots good enough footage to get some decent end results, that is what matters. At least for me.
I totally agree man
I have one and it’s pretty good for the price, no image stabilizer. That was one of the best reviews I’ve seen on U Tube. Thanks
Thanks so much man, I really appreciate that!

Excellent, it definitely is a pretty decent camera for the price!
Looking at picking one of these up. Great video! Thanks for the straightforward, honest, and practical review.
Thanks for the very good video. I was given this camera as a gift and needed to to know to get started. You help.

how about image stabilization? Big deal or Not? Appreciate the input for my first action camera please.
i can’t get the black mount that comes on the waterproof case off

Is the remote control water proof?
just got one would this be okay to be able to capture sports action such as Basketball, Baseball etc?

Will it be good for vlogging and interviewing? I'm going to a comic con and in need of a new budget camera.
I wouldn't recommend this for that purpose.
There's no external mic input and the internal mic probably wouldn't work well for interviews.. it'd pick up a lot of background noise.
Plus everything records with a wide angle fish-eye, so you'd probably want to correct that in post.. extra work.

Got one haven’t tried it yet, video was very informative.
Where can you buy replacement parts?
I have no idea, I would recommend reaching out to Akaso support.
Akaso or eken?????
Awesome review thanks for sharing it’s between this one and a gopro session 4 for me.
My pleasure.. hope this was helpful in your decision making.
Which app do you use? Can not find app
I was lucky enough to get one for Xmas.
I have a kindle Fire HD - what editing suite would you recommend?
could I ask? could i use a adapter to use a boya mic by-mm1.
Thank you !! Very good review.

Why use ez icam and not use akaso DV????
Does it have built in software logic to auto stitch the time lap pics?
Which camera better on audio?
It's under $100 you shouldn't expect much I think it's pretty good for the price I can't wait to receive mine
