Fun Fact: George Clooney is pretty much responsible for South Park existing!
Matt and Trey (the creators) created the first “viral” video by sending out VHS’s of their “Miracle of Christmas” short with the South Park characters. George Clooney got his hands on one and shared it with everyone he knew in Hollywood. Years later it became a show!

I have actually had a fecal transplant. I have an autoimmune disease called ulcerative colitis, so my intestine was already really sick. Then I got a c diff infection and was hospitalized because I was so ill. They tried multiple antibiotics and nothing was getting rid of the infection. The last option was a fecal transplant, and I was so horribly sick that I was willing to try anything. I had been sick for 3 months. Seriously the next day after the fecal transplant I felt a million times better! My body needed that good bacteria. I know the idea of it sounds gross, but it was so helpful to me and I am a huge believer in fecal transplants!

That sounds horrible , ulcerative colitis is a b... that almost took my mom. She was getting weaker and weaker, thinner and thinner,it was terrifying to watch. Can't imagine getting c.diff on top of it. Fecal flora transplant was the best thing that ever happened to her - we've had to go to private healthcare for it though and I can't believe "eww, gross" is still a reason for politicians not to approve coverage for medical procedures. Glad you got better!

    • @PeterDB90

I just thought it was a South Park bit and not a real procedure, but hey, whatever it takes to heal - when it comes to grossness or staying alive and healthy, a fecal transplant isn't even close to the limit of what I would be willing to do.

My 7th grade history teacher actually had the smartest thought I had ever heard on ADHD ::
"It's not that they can't focus on anything, it's that they are focused on everything."
And it's so true. Like I could tell you the color of someones shoe, the feeling of my shirt on my back, and repeat the call of the bird outside the window, but ask me to recite that text you just read me and I'll blank.

And on the opposite side of that, I had a teacher who did not undetstand ADHD at all. We're constantly thinking 24/7, our minds are racing all the time even at night if your thoughts don't slow down, your body and mind won't relax quick enough to be on a proper sleep schedule sometimes, that's why for most people with ADHD it's important to have medication that'll calm you down that way you can go to bed at a proper time and also focus more during the day on said medication.

My dad is a GP (UK name for family doctor/primary care doctor) and he told her that unless she has coeliac she can have gluten, and she argued with him. When I was 12 years old, I had some serious behavioral issues and my parents-limited by their insurance-took me to some off-brand, dollar store "I got my medical degree from a cereal box" therapist who was throwing pills at any child he saw instead of doing the testing to properly diagnose people. My ADHD was diagosed as depression and I was prescribed Zoloft. Yes, they gave me a medication that is known to cause SERIOUS issues in children and guess what, it did. I ended up attempting suicide a month after I began taking it. I was very nearly successful, but it was the moment my parents decided to bite the bullet and took me out-of-network to another doctor who did the appropriate testing and diagnosed me as having ADHD and a non-verbal learning disability. He started me on Concerta (methylphenidate), the extended-release tablets, while my mom fought hard to get me an IEP to help with my learning in school. Over the course of a few months, I went from failing all of my classes to being a B student and my impulsivity, stealing, and other odd behaviors calmed right down. I can say with 1000% certainty that if my parents didn't step in and get me to a competent specialist, I would not be here today.

As someone who was put on zoloft while going through puberty, I can confirm that it fucks with your head, and should never be used in teens. I became more depressed, and had suicidal thoughts. Told my mom, but she didn't take me off of it. Let nurse and doctor know what was going on during an appointment a few months later because I was concerned. They didn't do anything to help me. Years later I'm still on that bullshit at max dose. Plan on weening myself off as soon as I move out of my parents' house. I fully believe my mom was punishing me because she's a narcissist who doesn't seem to like having a daughter with autism. I'll be 20 when I finally get away from her and can fully make decisions regarding my medical care. As it stands right now, she only allows me to schedule my appointments, fill out paper work regarding/consenting to what type of care I need whether it be at an out patient clinic or hospital (haven't been hospitalized since I was a baby though), and answering questions asked by a doctor or nurse about how I'm feeling, any health concerns I have, medical insurance information, and my medical history. Shortly after I graduated from high school, I had to go to a lawyer's office to sign paper work regarding medical POA, so if I ended up in a state where I was comatose and the doctors not being able to do anything to improve my condition, my parents can sign papers to have the hospital let me die. If I die, that's obviously bad news for everyone I know, but good news for people on organ transplant waiting lists if my organs haven't been damaged by what put me in the hospital or things that happened while in the hospital. Need bone marrow? My ghost has got ya. A new heart? All yours! Kidneys? Have at em! Liver? Just a few signatures and a trip to the OR and it's yours! Lungs? No problem! Of course, that's if I die with my organs intact. If they're damaged, infected, or beginning to decompose after death, they're useless.

It's very likely real, but I wouldn't call it a "disorder". It's a difference in prioritization algorithm.
When something critical happens and you have to jump into action without thinking, the ADHD person will be faster. That's what they're evolved to do.
When something uninteresting and non-critical "should be" done, the ADHD person will procrastinate.
We're not orderly minds, able to follow a straight line easily. We're probing like an AI, looking for all possibilities, and acting toward or against them, like a very busy chess game that never ends.
I highly doubt this represents 100% of the population. It's probably a fraction, and that fraction has ADHD, for lack of a better term. We're the horse archers and skirmishers that scout ahead and support the flanks of civilization. We're the advance guard. We see things coming way before anyone else. But, man are we bad at keeping a formation.

Thanks for explaining to people the difference between adderal and ritalin. They are very different in molecular structure! ADHD is very difficult to diagnose, and has been problematically over diagnosed in kids.

I got acute Myeloid leukemia last summer and couldn't eat for over a month basically. Everything was really awful while I lived in the hospital and the induction chemo didn't work and the experimental trial used for the second attempt at chemo made me even worse. I lost 100 pounds in about 30-40 days. The third attempt with venclexta and asidadine finally started working and I was able to go home but still wasn't able to eat any food or able to walk more than about 10 feet without a walker. Two weeks after being home I got another bone marrow biopsy and I was finally in remission. The next day I was suddenly able to eat and started to really get motivated about gaining my mobility back. Never been so happy in my life to be in remission. Now just waiting on a bone marrow transplant. It's gonna be an even worse time from what I've been told and looked up. I'm only 33 years old and not excited to have to live with my mother again for 3 months many hours away from home. So basically all I've done for the last couple months is eat. Constantly. I regained 40 pounds already in 3 months. But I know I won't be able to eat anything good again for many months soon so I gotta get it in now while I can.

My Dad has a severe allergy to gluten. Yeah, that stuff is in everything. Soy sauce was a surprise for us, too. So were vanilla ice cream, potato chips (yes, the ones with only salt), these powder mixtures for soups and sauces and that nearly every restaurant puts their grilled fish in flour. It's exhausting.

C diff, my grandmother was in the ICU and had it, along with many other issues, and was fully under sedation. I deal with high stress by being informed so I researched and asked if they might do a fecal transplant after she had not really responded to antibiotics after about 5 days, the nurse looked at me like I was disgusting and said we don’t do that here. About 10 days later the, I think, Gi specialist came and started to explain a fecal transplant to me very gently. I interrupted him and asked if he was going to offer a fecal transplant. He said yes and I said I consent and am happy to sign any paperwork. I was thankfully one of her two medical POA’s, which we had signed that paperwork last minute as she was in pre-op thank goodness. The transplant was dehydrated initially and was rehydrated and was administered through her NG tube. Her poor nurse, not he same one, really struggled doing it gags and all. I know it’s gross seeming but her diarrhea had stopped within 2 days. She was still quite sedated and will never know she had one, trust me she doesn’t want that knowledge, but I believe it absolutely contributed to saving her life and why she is still here with us at 86. I would absolutely do it again and would consent to the treatment for myself if called for.

So nice to hear you give a thorough walk through of celiac disease. 🙏🏻
Been diagnosed for 10 years and it’s not always easy to explain why my diet is different. Also the whole hysterical gluten situation is kinda frustrating for the people with celiac disease, we actually get sick. 😅

You….young man…..are a breath of fresh air! Love watching your reaction to different situations and clear explanations. You make me laugh!! I contracted c-diff, presumably from very strong meds received after surgery (twice) and the script ($2k a dose) finally worked but was told the transplant would probably be my option, thought I was going to die…..but here I am! Like I said, you make me laugh during your videos. Keep up the good work!!

There is a medical TV show that is on it's last season this year, which would be great for you to review next it is called Doc Martin, it's a British comedy drama, he was a vascular surgeon, but becomes a GP (family medicine Doctor same as you), the show is medically accurate, and to top it off it is hilarious.
