In the year I lived with a 3 yr old female GSD, and a 1 yr old male golden retriever owned by the same roommate: The Shepherd was the sweetest, smartest, and most eager to please dog I've ever personally seen
GSD are wonderful dogs. Intelligent, very loyal, and no matter what happens, willing to fight for the owner no matters what it costs. They never stop or give up until the danger is over. Please excuse my english, I am german.
This one and Vince - I'd take Vince if I didn't live in another country. Love German Shepherds. They need to be with a confident owner; not everyone is right for a GSD - sad that you have so many. Puppies are like having a baby - small toddler...a lot of work. Giggles is so adorable.
I went to a shelter to adopt a seven years old dog. They told me, that there are rules, I had no problem with that. First I had to visit six times, then I was told they would come by to see my house and fenced in garden. After this inspection they would decide if I could have it. After my fourth visit they gave him to somebody else. I went to another shelter, where I saw my dog. They then said, that her sister is also there and I could choose which one. My two dogs are now twekve years old and have been nothing but joy and happiness to me. Two years ago I inherited a tem year old fat cat, that has never been outside and that would not let anybody touch her. My three girls are laying with me on the sofa now and I need another pair of hands. It took time and patience, but us four girls are living in harmony, enjoying each others company inside and in the garden. My dogs went to work with me every day for ten years. Now we are retired and I wouldn't want to miss a day with them. I couldn't go to a shelter without taking one, two, three......

That Australian Shepherd just tore my heart out. Her eyes would melt anyone’s heart. She’s smart, loving, and is a perfect candidate for someone with kids.
I'm an Aussie dog lover and I had no idea there was such a dog. I personally love my Rottweilers. They are a great dog for us. My current one is so protective of my misses when I'm away but becomes dad's lapdog when I'm home. It's lovely but I have a bad back and she still thinks she should lay across my chest like she did as a puppy. She gives me a look of betrayal when I make her get down. She's almost 50 kgs and I have a very bad back
Agree on the Aussie. I had a 1/2 Black Lab and half Border Collie/Australian Shephard mix. He inherited the best of each breed and was a complete, utter, sweet goofball. 15½ years of pure happiness. He was "that dog" for me. Still miss that buddy.
I could never understand how anyone could ever return a dog. When I adopted mine, I promised him a forever home, him and me until the end. He had been a stray who never had a home so the first couple of weeks he did over $1,000 in damage and I never considered for a second giving up on him. He's my world and I don't know how I would ever have made it without him.
That's right. When my first bunny did damage to my home, I re educated MYSELF on how to best bunnyproof my home with the budget I had. 2 years later, I was able to go on a 12 hr shift and leave her to free roam (I had a babysitter cam); she was the best bunny...
My cats have caused so much destruction in the house, furniture...and clothes!!!! I would NEVER give them away, even though I do get upset, and scold them, they are very intelligent, they know they are being naughty. These babies are part of my family. I took them in and it's for good. It hurts to see how easy people get rid of their pets....
They are definitely NOT worse off when you leave them. As a shelter caregiver, ive seen a single 10 minute visit with a dog bring them from shaking, drooling, panting, being terrified, to wagging their tails and coming up to the kennel door to greet you. And then stay that way. All they need is this right here. Some love, affection, kindness, to have a reason to associate our presence with positivity. I work with dogs that were born from mothers that have had very little to no human contact. They dont always turn around quick but they are so much better off with these little visits. Its so fulfilling seeing them come in like that, working with them, then seeing them jump with joy during their adoption!
I love everything about the show but today distracted and irritated by the cloying music. It's disruptive and unnecessary. I want ti pay attention to every sound and motion of the dog and Ricky and Alex and the crew. Please please cut it out.
I love German Shepherds. I had one working homicides with law enforcement. The other handed over to me. Six year old male who was badly behaved. Took me one year with positive reinforcement to change him to a kinder dog who FINALLY liked other dogs.
I wish Timmy had gone to a home with another dog. For dogs that are shut down and nervous, especially when they’re very young, an emotional support dog to make them feel safe and teach them how to dog is the best medicine.
@@maargenbx1454my old dog decided that the neighbor's dog was his! he was a tripawed and every time they went by on their walk, he was so excited that his front legs outran his hind leg and he drag-ran the rest of the way, kicking his hind leg and stub! sometimes I had to wash grass stains off his belly 😂
Such a shame! German Shepards are such great guardians. Their intelligence, loyalty and obedience are legendary. Please adopt one if you can provide a good home!
Anyone that tries to put a negative spin on what you do is just projecting their ignorance. I can't think of a single species that doesn't thrive without some kind of enrichment. And that's exactly what you do, Rocky. Even zoo animals recieve enrichment from their carers, albeit not cuddles.
Mel is one of my favorite people that appears in these videos. You can just tell how big and genuine her heart is and how much she loves these animals.
Sometimes when people say the dog got too big, they may rent and the landlords say, "you said it was going to be a small to medium sized dog, you cant have a large dog here" I know cause it happened to my brother, broke his heart.😞💔 When mom was alive we had an alaskan malamute and 2 full blooded german shepards, they were both cuddly babies, I love that shepard, ..aww rocket❤❤
We’ve been blessed with 3 rescue Saint Bernards. I can honestly say there is no dog too big. We’ve also rescued a Maltese and now a skiddish German Shepherd. And 5 feral cats. And an umbrella cockatoo. Over the past 30 years we have never been without companions and are never surprised when they find us. I appreciate what you do.
People need to realize a pet is a lifetime commitment. They are only part of your life but you're part of their whole life. Dogs are angels with hidden wings. It totally breaks my heart to hear the ridiculous reasons why people abandon their pets. Pets feel emotions just like people and they are true family members.
MEL IS INCREDIBLE! She has some kind of extraordinary inner kindness that dogs just seem to trust. Beautiful human! Thank you, Mel! You appear to be tireless. I’m sure you are not but your dedication to kindness appears unending and is most precious. Thank you 🍃🌸🍃
I had a GS named Rocky, he was the love of my life. He came from a shelter but he’s owner loved him and it wasn’t easy for him to surrender. I would adopt all of those GS if I lived in the states. They are the most loyal, gentle, intelligent dogs ever.
Name the shepherd Annie, she has a sweet gentle spirit. Whatever name you choose, it should match her gentle spirit, and makes her breed less threatening. ❤️
The German Shepherd dog with one ear, I understand what he's feeling. I'm disabled since I was 17 years old and I have a paralyzed right side from whiplash and traumatic head/brain injury. People who don't know me avoid me. I would adopt Vince in a heartbeat. I love dogs that are older dogs or like Vince. I'm home a lot on the Ponderosa and I'm not fast to get around anymore. I enjoy sending contributions to my local animal shelter since I can't have any pets. Thank you and your family Rocky for all that you are doing 👍🏻👍👍🐕🐕🐕😊😊😊🤗🤗🤗🌄💖⚘💯💯💯
My Sister rescues GSD's in California because there are so many that get dropped off or found abandoned. We adopted one 1 yr old male that was one day from being put down because his number was up. He's a great smart and sweet puppy, so glad we have him. Thanks for all you do!!
Great work Rocky. I cry from sadness when I see the dogs in the kennels and then cry for joy when they get adopted. You are a saint and going straight to Heaven... many, many years from now. All the best!

Rocky, I watched a couple of videos before going to work on a psych ward and had such a relaxed shift. I connected well with a patient who does not like me and had had a rough morning throwing things. We chatted & watched part of a movie together. I really think the gentle kind energy that you emit as you see the best in every dog is that contagious it affected me & those around me. Oh and I'm on the other side of the world ... 🤗
Every single one of your videos brings me to tears, almost immediately. But pretty much by the end of all your videos im smiling and laughing through my tears. I love you and your family, Rocky. Y'all deserve all the best the world has to offer, because thats what y'all give.
I am so greatful for you Rocky. Thanks for all of the wonderful things that you do for these great animals❤ However, you do need to think about Mel for a minute. She works so hard to help these amazing animals. Thank you so much💚 I really wish that I could adopt these cute animals but I live far away. In my opinion, German shepards are the best kind of dog breeds. I hope that they all find a loving hone soon.💜
No matter how many of your videos I watch, I always tear up when one of the animals gets adopted. I absolutely love the way the staff applauds the pets as they go to their forever home.
Dont listen to the critics Mate 😊. You have a special personality and you do something special for those beautiful pups. We adopted a kitten from a shelter here in Australia and she is such an important part of our family. Best wishes from Queensland Australia 😊
I feel so bad for Auggie did he really get returned for getting to big that's ridiculous how could you return such a sweetheart it really breaks my heart 💔
Friend of mine was just adopted by a stray no-name Shepard, who came out of the low desert while he was camping near Death Valley. No chip, no tag, and now a loving home.
I usually don't comment, but I am compelled to do so. I never have a dry eye when I watch your videos. I want to thank you for putting out content on these amazing animals.
I rescue and rehabilitate dogs, 99 percent GSD’s. This breaks my heart to see. I have done a lot for GSD’s and it honestly infuriates me that people don’t do their research on dogs that are appropriate for people. Thank you for what you do..❤
this applies to cat breeds too. No matter the type of animal being a traditional dog or cat, or more off the reservation of fish, birds, rodents, reptiles, etc.. good pet ownership is not just that it is a dog, cat, fish, bird, etc but also the needs of individual breed types to know if that personality style can fit within your own lifestyle or you, the owner, are willing to adjust your lifestyle to the breed
@@mother8696 They have a lot of energy, are intelligent and the require love and care like all dogs. A lot of owners have no clue how to manage / take care of them.
My son is almost 17 and wants to be a cop...has wanted to since he could talk from about that same time he's always wanted a gsd I want so badly to give that to him but I know that I also have a cat who is 14 and would hate a dog and I can't afford vet bills if need be and am also suffering a chronic illness which has me sick a lot so I don't want to take in a dog to make my son happy but in all reality not be able to do for it what it deserves. I wish more people would think ahead.
Hi Rocky! I'm from Brazil and I have deep respect for people like you who are around the world saving and giving new chances to these wonderful beings who exist to brighten our lives! I have three mini schnauzers that are the love of me and my family (Floyd, Frau and Alfonse - father, mother and son). Continue your magnificent work, my friend! You have all my support!
Mia reminded me of my baby girl, Bindi, that came to me when my boss came in one morning asking if anyone wanted a puppy that somebody dropped off in front of her property out in the woods. I told her immediately that I'd take her, then I called my husband and told him. She was one of THE BEST dogs I've ever had. She was definitely the smartest and I'd love to have another one just like her, like Mia, but I'm too far away. Rescue dogs are the best! I pray that all these beautiful babies get adopted!
Sadly, a lot of people think dogs are just an accessory that they can carry around and show off, that is always supposed to do what they want. Many do not realize that each puppy has their own personality and needs. And just like with any other relationship, it's a give and take. People who care more about their iphones and cars than they do about their dog, should not get a dog.
OH my gosh! My heart is for shepherds. The most loyal and smart and friendly dogs I have ever owned, and I have had many over my 63 years. To see that baby put her head in your hand broke my heart. She just needs love. I have gone through more vacuum cleaners than any person on earth. Shepherds to shed, oh my.
As someone with a cattle dog mix, I can say they definitely are wary of strangers in general, but with time, respect of what the dog is trying to tell you, and love, that they come around and become your little shadow who just wants to be near you always even if it doesn't mean snuggles. 🐾
I had a red heeler and sheltie mix. Sweet girl but if you moved toward her too fast she cringed. She was from a kill center in Iowa. We had her 16 yrs. Miss her so much. Edit for spelling

We adopted two shepherd mis from the pound and they are so beautiful. Love them so much. All our canines stay with us no matter what. Once we adopt they donn’t get returned to the shelter.
Today 10-22 marks the two year anniversary that I adopted Luna, a 5½year old GSD. I couldn't help shed a few tears of happiness to see Emma get adopted. Thanks to all who have adopted animals, you've saved lives and enriched yours. Thanks Rocky for all you do to help animals find forever homes. ❤

German Shepherds are so special, I would pick up my yard, mow and then roll around on the ground with my 80 pound girl. Neighbor's thought I was crazy. Hannah developed the disease that they loose control of their legs. I was so devastated when she lost control of all 4 legs and that happed in 2011. I can't bring myself to adopt another. Miss her soo much
My first dog of my own was a 10 year old 110lb Black Lab with NO markings whatsoever. I adopted him before even ever meeting him. His story made me melt. He was the love of my life and I will forever adopt either senior dogs or the black dogs that get looked over. Thank you for everything you do. I wish I lived in CA and could help your plight.

You sitting with a dog is invaluable. 5 minutes or 55minutes speaks love into their life. If all the people complaining, gave 5 minutes, the dogs wouldn't be alone. Keep doing good!
Rocky, your videos always bring a tear to my eye. These dogs are so lucky to have you on their side. You have a heart of gold and every shelter needs a Rocky! They returned Auggie because he got to big?? That's like returning grandma because she gained 25lbs. WTH is wrong with people. Do your research on different breeds before you get a dog.
Still miss that buddy.
not my Red Heeler she thought that was a mugs game LOL
Well said, and I totally agree..❤
Quote of the day, "have a reason to associate our presence with positivity."
I think Timmy got adopted by the best person. A mature person with no children to stress out an already stressed dog. Thanks to the gentleman!
Being a working dog breed I hope that he can run a lot. Most working dogs love chasing a ball
Don't listen to any negative comments. You are wonderful to take your time with these dogs.
I have three adopted German shepherds. They are the best dogs ever.
All these videos of you sitting with these sweet dogs make me CRY. My dog of 13 years died 5 months ago and I still have crying jags.
I’m sorry for your loss😢❤
I adopted 3-year-old abandoned GSD with a broken ear. He’s so sweet and fantastic. Such a loving soul.❤
I have had 5 GSD 's. They have so much love.
Mel is one of my favorite people that appears in these videos. You can just tell how big and genuine her heart is and how much she loves these animals.
Yes. ❤
She's a Beautiful German Shepherd!
German Shepherd is one of my fav breeds, and she is absolutely beautiful!😍. Poor baby!😢
German Shepherds are really fantastic!
I have a one year old male GSD I cannot imagine giving him up. He is our baby boy.
Emma was standing so proud outside the front door of the shelter with her new family! 💖
People need to realize a pet is a lifetime commitment. They are only part of your life but you're part of their whole life. Dogs are angels with hidden wings. It totally breaks my heart to hear the ridiculous reasons why people abandon their pets. Pets feel emotions just like people and they are true family members.
The amount of pets in a shelter - one of the many reasons I sincerely think humanity is doomed to fail as a whole
Couldn't agree more, they are indeed angels with hidden wings. Seeing the scared eyes of beautiful girl Mia breaks my heart too
I don't know what Mia has been through, I've never seen a dog so terrified. Poor baby.
For real 😢 mia is gorgeous and deserves only heaven 💖
MEL IS INCREDIBLE! She has some kind of extraordinary inner kindness that dogs just seem to trust. Beautiful human!
Thank you, Mel! You appear to be tireless. I’m sure you are not but your dedication to kindness appears unending and is most precious. Thank you 🍃🌸🍃
Rescue dogs are the best, they know you’ve saved them, and appreciate their clan!
I watch Rocky's "sit with a dog" videos to help me have faith that things still turn out right in the world.
I had a GS named Rocky, he was the love of my life. He came from a shelter but he’s owner loved him and it wasn’t easy for him to surrender. I would adopt all of those GS if I lived in the states. They are the most loyal, gentle, intelligent dogs ever.
Mine was named Ben. I still miss him after all these years
Name the shepherd Annie, she has a sweet gentle spirit. Whatever name you choose, it should match her gentle spirit, and makes her breed less threatening. ❤️
The people who adopted her named her Emma♥️
I grew up with GS. The shelters are full of them and Huskies, it’s heartbreaking.❤
I love how rocky sits
with dogs so we can support and adopt shelter dogs that need a home
Mia's eyes!!!! 😢😢😢 And she's so beautiful. If I lived in the US I'd be very tempted to adopt her!
Great work Rocky. I cry from sadness when I see the dogs in the kennels and then cry for joy when they get adopted. You are a saint and going straight to Heaven... many, many years from now. All the best!
The shepherd really broke my heart, just watching her want nothing but love, ❤️. Mel is absolutely amazing ❤. They’re all so very precious ❤
WE HAVE A GERMAN SHEPARD FROM TEXAS, SHE IS SO LOVING, & WE LOVE HER SOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!😄👍👍👍👍❤❤❤❤😍😊🙃😊GOD BLESS YOU ROCKY & ALL YOUR FRIENDS, FOR ALL YOU DO FOR ALL THESE BEAUTIFUL DOGS!!!! PRASE THE LORD, THANK YOU " JESUS "
Why does everyone thank God for what humans do
It is so heartbreaking to see such wonderful dogs in the shelter.
The one that knows so many commands must be someone's pet. She's so pretty. Such a good girl❤
These dogs are so lucky to have you Rocky! I'm happy you can help them! ❤
I've had German Shepherds all my life. The most beautiful, protective, loving breed
Thank you for featuring the plight of German shepherds. They are such incredible dogs. There are so many in my community’s shelters, too.
Every positive loving interaction that a dog has with caring humans is a net positive for the dog! Thanks for giving this gift to shelter dogs. ❤
Rocky of course I watch you all the time! Vince isn't getting adopted because I feel he's meant for you.
How could anyone abandon such a beautiful angel
Well said, and 100% agreed!
I am so greatful for you Rocky. Thanks for all of the wonderful things that you do for these great animals❤ However, you do need to think about Mel for a minute. She works so hard to help these amazing animals. Thank you so much💚
I really wish that I could adopt these cute animals but I live far away.
In my opinion, German shepards are the best kind of dog breeds. I hope that they all find a loving hone soon.💜
Rocky does appreciate Mel regularly so don't worry. ✨🙏✨
You are a good person for helping these animals
No matter how many of your videos I watch, I always tear up when one of the animals gets adopted. I absolutely love the way the staff applauds the pets as they go to their forever home.
I m so glad the dog is adopted. God bless all
Dont listen to the critics Mate 😊.
❤👏👏👏🐾🐾🕊
I fell in love with Vince and the long haired female shepherd you posted a couple of weeks ago. I do hope all these fur babies find loving homes.
I usually don't comment, but I am compelled to do so. I never have a dry eye when I watch your videos. I want to thank you for putting out content on these amazing animals.
Mia is just the cutest just wanna hug and cuddle and spoile her
Please never stop what you’re doing. It’s great!
Why do you think there are so many unwanted Shepards?
And GSDs are majestic animals. I did 7 years of GSD rescue. God bless every LEGITIMATE rescuer out there because it's very hard work!
I love the name, Emma! So happy she got adopted 🐶❤️🎉
German shepherds are such lovely obedient sensitive doggies 🐕
I will never understand how people can neglect these amazing furbabies. You do an amazing job Rocky ❤
Sadly, a lot of people think dogs are just an accessory that they can carry around and show off, that is always supposed to do what they want.
Many do not realize that each puppy has their own personality and needs. And just like with any other relationship, it's a give and take.
People who care more about their iphones and cars than they do about their dog, should not get a dog.
sometimes its not neglect though, its circumstance
What a sweet ❤! I grew up with German Sheppards. They are some very good dogs especially around children, very sweet, loyal and protective.
German Shepherds are my absolute favorite. !!!!
Hey Rocky, is there any update on Vince? I live in the UK and I have a German Shepard, she's my best friend. My heart goes out to Vince. I Hope he finds his furever home soon.
My FAVORITE series on RUclips by My FAVORITE Rescuer. Thank you for all you and your wife do ❤
Thank you so much for being a part of this!
We adopted two shepherd mis from the pound and they are so beautiful. Love them so much. All our canines stay with us no matter what. Once we adopt they donn’t get returned to the shelter.
we've lived and hunted together for 10 of thousands of years...the bond is undeniable the communication requires no words the therapy is priceless
Ok, gotta ask what is a GSD? German Shepherd Dog?
@@anonimous2451 yes
Im so glad emma got adopted! I feel like she had an older owner maybe they passed or are in the hospital, she seemed to love Rocky,my heart hurt for her, but it does for all these babies and more 🥰❤🧡💛💚💙💜 animals
Thank you Rocky! These dogs seriously need their forever home, I wish I lived closer, I would be bring home a new baby.
I adore Mia! She's so sweet!!♡♡
I know! I'd love to have her, but I can't just travel across the country to get her. 😢
Miss her soo much
With Mia, my first impression was not just fear, but also hope and fearing to hope.
Omg you’re right I actually can’t believe how many German shepherds the shelter has. So sad they are incredibly loyal and loving.
Hang in there Vince. One day you will get a loving person who will take care of you ❤
Thank you for doing so much for these wonderful animals.
Me to
May God be with you ROCKY for sharing all these PRECIOUS LITTLE ANGELS' stories with us all💔 It really breaks my heart to see the shelters full and not too many people adopting them🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕💋❤️ May God be with them all in getting Loving Forever Homes and Families SOON 🙏🙏🙏🐕🐕🐕🐕❤️💋🙏🌹
Thank you Rocky and your beautiful wife for being there for these unwanted babies. All they want is love and your there doing such a thing.
I foster dogs myself. From the streets, to the shelters and homes..
Sending you love.💜
The grooming process is also a really important part of them starting their new life.
I love big dogs , they are such characters , gentle giants , adorable , really smart, often extremely gentle and sweet.
AUGGIE IS SUCH A LOVE SPONGE❤❤❤
She's beautiful and terrified! She needs a person of her own that she can trust.
They all deserve to be loved. Sending love from Ohio.....💜
Giggles is ADORABLE!!! :)
I had tears in my eyes when Timmy got adopted. Wishing all the happiness to Timmy and Rudy.🐾🐶❤
