My brother was a musician in Austin Texas and playing out one night he spots Pinetop in the front row with a lady my brother said he thought was an aid/friend....my brother put the spotlight on him and asked if he would like to come up onstage and play with the "boys"..He did and it was one of the best nights of my brother's life as he said. My brother passed 2 years ago . RIP Donnie. Miss and Love you ! He was in a band called Rebel Kind in Austin years ago.

I saw Pinetop at the Montreal Jazz Fest in the early 1990s it was outdoors and a free show. A small stage and I was up close. It was great. The next year I saw Honeyboy Edwards. Again a small outdoor street stage. Magical. The Delta was coming off his guitar. I was in heaven.
To the thumbs downs and anybody else who needs to hear it, Just getting to hear the purity and soul, by either listening, or being privileged to play alongside someone who's lived through what this man has, and share his gift of music should be celebrated.

In 1995 I met and had my picture taken with Pinetop at the King Bisquit Blues Festival in West Helena Arkansas, It was my 40'th birthday and I was blown away when he wanted to be with me in a birthday photo. I also got a Happy Birthday kiss on my cheek. To me it was an honor.

Saw Buddy Guy, Pinetop Perkins, Luther Allison, Billy Branch and the Sons of Blues and much more. On the last day Sunday, I had fried chicken made by the lady's group from the Babtist Church of West Helena and walked over and Watched Dr. John open the show, you can't beat that!

And I'm surprised I never heard of him considering I was raised in Austin Texas and my father was born and raised 20 mi down the street in Bastrop Texas. Living in Sydney Australia growing up in the 70's we were starved of quality Blues we had our own scene but nowhere as good as guys like Pinetop or James Cotton etc But I still found my way to the Blues now in 2024 joust in .y 60's I'm still loving still playing still listening to the Blues I feel as if it runs through my veins....

I have been blessed in my life to see Pinetop Perkins play live several times and have photos with them and it was a joy to meet him and hear him play Live blues at such an old age. This was in Chicago in the early 2000s he would play at Rosas blues lounge on Armitage.

I had the great pleasure to tour with Pinetop in the early 90's (I'm a guitarist). We would hang out in the afternoons drinking and he would tell me stories of his days with Muddy, Ike and Tina - those were great times!!

I had the great pleasure to tour with Pinetop in the early 90's (I'm a guitarist). We would hang out in the afternoons drinking and he would tell me stories of his days with Muddy, Ike and Tina - those were great times!!
I just love it when the younger men show care for the elderly. Much respect! Talent and he has a atrong voice and knows how to tell a story.
