- How I saved some money by making my own precision digital throttle control for my kicker motor.
Parts I used from Amazon, (Affiliate links small commissioned earned)
Servo motor: amzn.to/3O2xiwj
Servo testor: amzn.to/3Y26cKy
Servo wire: amzn.to/43uFprf
Servo connector leads: amzn.to/44xaFHH
6vlt power supply: amzn.to/3pV0EVt
switch under dash to power on and off controller: amzn.to/3UMG8Da
inline fuse for circuit protection: amzn.to/4b6ROq4 - Хобби
Thank you!
You bet!
You just saved us all a bunch of Money Sir, just have to go out and get it. they are pretty expensive from factory,,.,Amazing Video
Glad to help
Fantastic job. Love the diy
Nice build. Easy peasy
Thanks!
10:27pm Nice experiment! Lee at Cabelas😊
Thanks bud!😃🇨🇦 🇺🇸
Thank you for posting this it is exactly what I want to do!! So I am guessing that you used the voltage reducer/converter for your set up? Or are both of those exactly the same? And would you post where you purchased the switch and the fuse?
Thanks again for posting this and the video was great!
yes need to reduce 12 volt in boat to 6 volt for servo and controller. switch and fuse I had but will post something from amazon similar
How did you deal with overtravel from the servo? I'm doing this now and I have 180 degree travel on the servo but only need about 100 degrees for WOT. I'm afraid of applying to much pressure after the WOT position has been reached but still have travel / adjustment on the servo. Be nice if you could limit the output of the tester. Or is this not a problem?
Also, I'm trying a smaller servo, 12kg. Not sure if it's going to work but measuring the torque on the throttle arm was around 7-8 kg. Certainly gave me some ideas, thanks for posting.
It’s really not an issue for me, don’t really use wide open throttle, however I’ve been doing some more research and have found a new controller im likley going to get along with a servo travel limiter for even more precision. The controller has memory presets too! Check out (gobilda) website I’m likley getting their servo controller (single dial) and their servo travel limiter. They have videos on RUclips for both devices. And they are both inexpensive.
Thanks for the reply. @@bikermike I'll check that site out because overtravel may be an issue. If I need to run back to port from 10 miles out I want to go as fast as possible. It looks like the smaller servo has enough umph to operate the throttle. If you get it running let me know.
thanks
mike
I've ordered the limiter and the controller with presets. I'll post when I install it. Thanks again for the idea!
thanks for a great DIY video. Please send the amazon link for the throttle cable and where did you get the servo mount bracket ?
Thanks for all your help
links are in the videos description. I found the hardware kit specific to my motor on eBay
@@tomvu3207 got the specific one for my motor. Should be able to look up part number for yours on their website
Thank you very good video. Pero They have 4.5k servo motor do you think that it’s more stronger then 35k
Glad to hear you found it helpful. Not sure about which one would be stronger, but the one I got is plenty strong for my application.
@@bikermike good I have exactly same 9.9 kicker Moto thank you
Oh and have you installed the new limiter/controller with presets yet?
not yet been busy installing an auto pilot for outboards
How did you mount the servo tester to the compartment?
I first tried Velcro tape, but then got 3M double sided mounting tape.
