I'm so glad you gave Infinite the respect it deserves. Putting The Eminem Show below Recovery is crazy tho but I'm gonna respect your oppinion. Also Relapse would be higher for me, I love the dark serial killer theme, the accents and production. But I understand why many people, including Eminem himself don't really like it. Otherwise great ranking.
I like that you didn't just crap on Revivial like most do. I agree that it had some good ideas. I would love to see Em with the kind of subject matter in Revival with the flow of MMLP or TES or even MMLP2
I'm glad you like Recovery! I will admit I do think slim shady LP is slightly better than MMLP. It just feels so much more sad and desolate at some parts like Rock Bottom. Em always my favorite
Decided to revisit this channel to see what you've been doing lately, and this ranking piqued my interest; SOO, I want to give off my thoughts on how I feel about the video. 1) Relapse being lower than Recovery was slightly shocking, as the majority of people prefer Relapse > Recovery. While I do agree with the majority of what people say, I understand why some people think Relapse is mid; for me, the biggest gripe with the album is that some songs drags out too long (EX: My Mom and Must be the Ganja) and the Indian accent can become quickly unfunny/annoying. Plus, you had the exact thoughts of how I felt with the song "Insane", it's good....if you tune out the lyrics and focus on the chorus + instrumental. Looking back, the concept of a 37 yr old man being over the top edgy and rapping about child rape is uh..something. As for Recovery..it's ok, there's some tracks I do still enjoy such as: Cinderella man, cold wind blows, untitled, etc; but for the most part, the rest of the songs are either 'decent' or plain bad. I think the main reason why I feel Recovery isn't as good is because the direction where Eminem was taking instrumentally. Recovery is the first album where Eminem didn't have Dr. Dre as his primary producer and explored more 'pop' instrumentals. Since then, he's explored more of those 'pop-sounding' beats. While I am happy that Eminem decided to experiment with different beats and explored more of his dark past with drugs; regardless, Recovery is simply not for me and I'd take Relapse > Recovery anyday. 2) I agree with putting Encore at a lower tier. Pretty sure I gaslit myself into liking songs from the album way back in late 2021, because my gosh Encore is a fucking snoozefest. The songs (Never enough, Rain man, Big weenie, Crazy in love, etc) are so godamn boring, and the instrumentals/accent makes them worse. Encore felt like a shitty version of MMLP. 3) The Eminem show ranking. Since most people (including myself) hype up the Eminem Show and say it's one of the best Eminem albums, it was surprising to see you place it under 4 albums. I do agree that you sort of have to achieve an 'appreciation' for rock music/rock sounding beats in order to like the album; plus, I feel the album isn't for others if they aren't looking for an overly serious Eminem project and just wanting something more 'comedic' (EX: SSLP or MMLP). Also, you hit the nail with how TES was TOO good/overly ambitious, that the projects after couldn't match the energy with TES and Eminem peaked during his TES era tbh. However, I will NOT take the Superman disrespect >:( 4) Infinite ranking. Truthfully, I haven't listened to Infinite and I only know one song from it (Searchin). So I'll go with how I felt about Searchin...it's good asf. Eminem really encapsulated the "nightful romantic vibes of being with your favorite person" so well with the song, and gives off those nostalgic/lofi hip-hop vibes. Because of it, I may have to listen to the album to give it a shot and you mentioned that it has those Lofi hip-hop vibes so that sort of piqued my interest. 5) MMLP ranking. Because you mentioned you don't interact with the Eminem community, I'll fill you in and say yes, the community consider MMLP to be one of the best or THE NUMBER ONE Eminem album ever. It's the perfect blend between edginess, comedy, and seriousness. Honestly, I've started to lean towards this album over TES. The replay value is top-notch with tracks such as: I'm back, Kill you, Marshall Mathers, Criminal, etc. For me, my favorite song is Kim, because you can interpret is as something comedic (with Em screaming + the chorus is goofy) or serious (looking into what a toxic/abusive relationship is like, and how a break up can drive someone into insanity). Honestly, the ranking of MMLP is pretty fitting and I understand why people consider it to be Em's best project. Overall, this is a good video and I chuckled over some of the funny commentary you gave + Srry for the long essay.
Hey! It's good to hear you! I appreciate your feedback! I really appreciate the long comments. It's super interesting to hear what others think and how they perceive the music. Hope you stay around for more!
