I wouldn't worry about 3-point shooting. Carlyle will be a great 3-point shooter this year with no PG duties. A lot of people have had Cupps lost in the shuffle of a deep roster, but he WILL play a lot as backup PG to Rice. Mgbako will shoot 40% or close to it from 3. Galloway should revert to his junior-year form (40% from 3). Last year he was recovering from groin surgery, which could throw anyone off if they try to come back too soon. His free-throw percentage dropping so much was the indicator that said to me he'll be able to come back strong with a little work (and we know he is a worker).
With so many new players, it’s gonna take some time for them to get familiar with each other and create some chemistry. I think they will be a solid unit this season.
Over the years we read and hear about all the great things players are doing at practice. I find the information interesting but don't get excited until I see some performance in a game.

I like hearing that Rice is a leader and role model. I hope that contributes to these guys playing like a team and overcoming any shortcomings with the Xs and Os coming from the coach. Big upgrade over a guy like Xavier Johnson.
I love this roster. We have a lot of potential. Rice being a passing point guard is not a bad thing. A lot of teams that make runs in the tournament have a playmaker that averages atleast 4.5 ast per game. We need rice to be a shooter and passer. The best point guards can do both at a high level. Like Tristen Newton for example got 6 assists per game but could step back and hit 3’s and was UConn’s highest scorer. Newton was only 31% from 3 but would take 5.5 3’s per game. Myles Rice needs to one or the best guard in the big 10, maybe even the country, like Bob Cousy award mid season watchlist good
My thoughts on the lineup. I hope its this Rice Galloway Mgbako Reneau Ballo... with our bench will be Carlyle, Newton, Tucker, Cupps, Goode....that is who we play this year honestly... i think the starting lineup will work because even if we start Reneau and Ballo....what will transpire in the game is we will be playing 1 or the other most of the game. we will be playing 4 wings basically most of the game... just not at the start is what im saying
....big concern regarding Japan Newton...he may be an athletic specimen.....how quickly does or can he adapt to the speed of the college game? As for the others, how well will they jell?
Yeah they are going to have to jell together for sure a lot of hype on newton and he does look like a starting nfl corner but are problem has been shooting every year it seems
You seem willing and readily looking for flaws. That could be a good thing but our overall talent and skills put us above most of the big 18. Goode and Mgbako can handle most of the three-point shooting. We will get enough from the rest to have a balanced attack. I say 16 and 4 in Big 18, tied for first.
Yes I am looking for flaws and anything to talk about this team. I do believe 16-4 would be fantastic and 12-0 non con we’d be a 2-3 seed hope that happens 👍🚀
