The first date I had with my boyfriend was to see John Wick. I had seen it before but not him. He loved it, of course, and since then (11 years later), it's still "our" movie.
"His name is John in this too." Keanu has been a John a lotta times. Johnny Utah, Don John, Jonathan Harker, Johnny Mnemonic, John Constantine, John Wick, Johnny Silverhand.
Some can't react emotionally enough! Maybe it's a crutch! lol! Doubtful! Tony Danza was about that repetitive until the end; looking like a "Tony!" lol ;-)
My grandmother used to say “There are some people in this world that deserve A WHOLE LOT OF LEAVE ALONE.” That wasn’t a common man that was disrespected, he was a slumbering demon that got angered.
"Why can no one shoot through glass." Glass refracts light. It's similar to when you put the end of a fishing pole into water. The angle appears different, so what you think is straight, isn't.
Not only the refraction (Very minimal), glass does weird things to projectiles. Any slight angle can throw the shot off significantly. This is why headshots through a windshield are hilarious to me. Every pane of glass breaks differently. I've cut sections of glass from the same pane that broke/cut differently. You can't predict how glass will effect bullet travel. You can kinda guesstimate but not know for certain. The glass at the Red Circle definitely is NOT bulletproof. It wouldn't splinter the way it does if it was.
You do get all the info you need about John and the hit man! At the funeral when John asks what are you doing here? He says just seeing an OLD FRIEND!! which ready tells you that they have known each other for so long that they must have worked together as well as both are assigns!! Also when the head guy asks him will you kill John for 2 million? He asks “is the contract exclusive?” Because if it’s exclusive he won’t take the contract as he knows John is so good that he can handle one assign coming after him!! But when he said the contract isn’t exclusive then he decides to take the job so he can help watch and cover Johns back as there could be 10, 20, 40, etc…assigns coming for him!! And he will need help!
You also can't say "NO" to a top BOSS; esp. face to face! Like the Godfather, Vigo gave Marcus an offer he couldn't refuse! Now acting on it was another thing! Thank Miss Perkins for snitching on him! She got just desserts in the end! The delusion had to be real in her head to conduct business on Continental grounds then meet up late w/ the management in the middle of the night! She should have been on the run; m/b become part of Vigo's protection squad! ;-)
If you want to see how Reeves prepared for the roll, there are cool videos of him training jiu jitsu with the Machado brothers, training judo, and going to various ranges to practice his shooting mechanics, reloading, and weapon swaps. He trained very, very extensively for these rolls. He’s actually a pretty solid jiu jitsu and judo practitioner. The videos of him training give a lot of credence to his character in the film. Pretty cool to see.
When Vigo asked Marcus if he would kill John, he asked if it is a "closed contract" aka exclusive to Marcus, but Vigo says no its open which means more Assassins on the way. Thats the only reason he says yes.
The animal shelter at the end is where his wife worked that is why he knew there were medical items there and the dog he chose at the end is his dog in real life, also as they are walking away they are at the same place his wife collapsed at the beginning of the movie.
Jimmy and Francis are two of the smartest characters in this film. John Wick is 'working' again? Stay out of his way and gratefully accept an out if he offers it to you.
I hope they do The Equalizer series after they finish the John Wick series. It has the same vibes but I feel like Denzel's acting takes the movies to a whole different level.
37:20 Not John Hamm, that's Swiss actor/martial artist Daniel Bernhardt. His character, Kirill, is one of the very few able to go toe-to-toe with John and win, as he does in the Red Circle. They're very closely matched, though, and John kills him in their second hand-to-hand confrontation.
Very able guy who had respect for Wick unlike Josef who's clueless! He didn't deserve his fate! That's what happens when you allow Batman to escape instead of just putting a bullet thru his cowl; well before it became bulletproof! ;-)
The gold coins do have monetary value, but above that, they are tokens that represent a favour in this universe. For example, when John calls in the dinner reservation for twelve, he pays Charlie with 12 coins, because he cleans up twelve bodies.
Although the director or the writer admitted the value is proportional, that they didn't really flesh that out. So John uses 12 coins for the the dinner reservation but other times he uses a different nomber of coins.
An ancient order called Assa-sins used to accept only gold as payment (weight in gold) for their services such as espionage, murder, or counterintelligence. It adds to the believability of the movie since there is precedence in real history. Some even argue that this is the origin of the Beggars Guild in China's past as well as the Ninja of Japan. If I may add a personal note, people who do work in military, intelligence and kill or capture squads must keep their feelings firewalled so they don't get in the way of what must be done.

Awesome reaction guys! \o/ 19:39 - Gold is a real currency and works across borders. The $100 dollar bills in your pocket are worth as much as toilet paper when sht goes down (something something money is only a receipt of a transaction of resource of value).
EDIT: This so much longer than i was intending😅 16:15 About his Lati tattoo Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat is Latin and nowdays it is always translated as "fortune favors the bold". That is of Christian origins and not the original meaning. The Latin used is older than the medieval Church Latin. It is a proverb that was seen as already ancient in the time when Ceasar lived(100 BC - 44 BC.) And yes i believe that it is the pagan meaning here as he has other very peganistic tatoos too. Fortis = (The) strong (ones) referring to a specific group of people not boldness/strength etc. Those would be robur/audacia. Fortuna = a Roman Goddess personification of Luck and Fate a force that could as easily be good or bad (it also seems to be capitalises as nouns are.) Adiuvat = AD "to/toward" + IUVAT "help/aid/save" in this case it could be translated as "Goddess (Fortuna) comes to save/aid". FORTES/it is (only) the strong ones FORTUNA/that Fortuna (The Goddess) ADIUVAT/come to help.
IIRC, another part of his tattoo was identified as something to do with a particular branch of the US armed forces - I don't think it was the Marines though. I don't think there are any actual military units that use that as their motto.
This movie was the second time I cheered wholeheartedly for a character's death... the first being he who is universally hated from GoT. I saw it with my grandpa and we both cheered when he finally bit it!
I love the use of lighting in the Red Circle scene. John is under blue light and in his safe zone. The bad guys are under red light and get pulled into John’s blue light as they are killed. John gets pulled into the bad guys red light when he is in danger.
John missed when he was shooting Iosef through the glass not because he was rusty......but because the glass refracted Iosef's true position a bit so it was difficult to lead him properly....
I will say that whatever service you watched this on (I believe Netflix?) actually slightly ruined the subtitle experience. The movie had very well stylised subtitles for when thee characters all speak in other languages. But Netflix managed to remove them and replace them with plain ones that don't hit as hard. And with a movie like this, it really is a noticeable change
Impact with an object in the path of a bullet will change the trajectory of the bullet, unless it's a high velocity round, such as from a sniper rifle.
The thing about John taking the knife to the gut was that he guided it to his previous injury, simply reopening the wound, which was already in a non-lethal area. That also let John get the opportunity to not only cripple his opponent, but to also take control of the knife.
The dog was what's called a MacGuffin (or Maguffin or McGuffin). In fiction, a MacGuffin (sometimes McGuffin) is an object, device, or event that is necessary to the plot and the motivation of the characters, but insignificant, unimportant, or irrelevant in itself. The most classic example in movies is the statue of the falcon in The Maltese Falcon.
Basically Perkin's was new to the lifestyle....she didn't understand the dire consequences of breaking the rules but John did which is why he told her it was a bad choice in his hotel room.
When I first saw the film in theaters I summed it up to, you don't f*ck with the one of the world's top Assassins in this universe, especially killing his dog that was a gift from his wife so he wouldn't feel/mourn alone
the reason why Marcus got involved is cause he asked "is the contract exclusive", and when he heared that its public- he got in. there are many subtle things people didnt realise in a first watch. for example- John saying "she's not for sale" about the car to Theon (John's wife wrote that he need someone besides the car), which shows his affection towards it. when Jimmy saying "i'll leave you be then", he shows open hand, which is not "bye" sign but a pacifying gesture, meaning that hes going off, and, for me, it shows that they are not buddies, and even tho Jimmy knows who John is, and he works for law enforcements, they both still have mutual respect. exclusiveness of the contract on John's head and Marcus choice, which i wrote before, the last scene, when John going home with a dog of his choice, was the same place where his wife dies, and, if i recall correctly, there was the same exact coloration in both scenes, and, imo, it shows that John have a chance to move forward, and other things like that.
Those doubletaps and reloads are beautiful. It's pretty much a perfect movie. Very simple plot, the whole world as well as the neighbouring planets were fully onboard with the revenge plot after Daisy died, great coreography, banging soundtrack, and beautiful lighting throughout. Great movie.
Lance Reddick’s performance in Fringe is spectacular (RIP) so is the whole cast’s. Daniel Greene booktuber here dared to make a season by season analysis of the show 2-3 hours long and he didn’t fail with the video on the channel. It was a success. Fringe is like Firefly. Fundamental in some ways.
Winston, the owner of The Continental, whom Wick met at the bar, is played by an actor (I forgot his name) who also was in the HBO short series Deadwood. It's about prospectors in the old west. It's about an hour episode. Winston played a saloon keeper with prostitutes on the second floor. A new sheriff came to town to take down the corruption and lawlessness. I like your reactions. Thank you. I hope to see more.
A lot of the dialog is BANGBangnANGbang[stab, squish, turn] baNGbAnG [Russian] BANG, ETC… When there are actual words, there is a lot of character introduction, growth, interaction with other characters and you get each of their full stories from beginning to end, simply with minimal dialogue. That’s genius writing. I’m not sure which, but I believe this originally from a comic book or graphic novel. I can’t exactly remember which is the source material.
When John asked Francis (Kevin Nash) if he lost weight it was code on how many guards were in the club. So when Francis told 27 kilograms or 60 lbs, he was telling him there were about 60 guards in the club.
6:37 that’s a $5000 turd. They couldn’t get the dog to go so they paid a company to cgi a turd. 6:54 it was weird she had the puppy planned but no food for it. 8:29 I’m guessing she’s in the hangar he came out of. The tarmac driving was him letting out his feelings. I think he was thinking of ending it to join his wife and stopped. 9:49 the poor actor who “killed” the puppy cried and held the puppy afterwards. 10:49 they originally filmed the scenes with Aurelio separately but felt that the scenes with Aurelio and Iosef was too long of time without seeing John so they combined them like Aurelio telling John what happened and showing us the scenes. 12:18 never has one word said so much. They apparently based this on an actual event. A navy seal had a dog named Dasy and was killed in his yard. He chased the guys through four counties and caught them. He didn’t kill them cause he would’ve been the one to pay in the end and not them. 22:11 I love how his wife’s words fit what he’s doing at the time. Like here she’s making him think about what he’s doing. 27:12 Keanu Reeves had a fever during this and still did an amazing performance. He did the majority of the action scenes (he’s not a stuntman so he won’t call them stunts). Keanu even had weapons training for this movie. They don’t have “movie” clips in the guns. If it’s a 15 round then only 15 bullets then reloading. There’s a video on RUclips showing his training. He didn’t do the fall off the balcony. He and the director (who was his stunt double for the Matrix) discussed the stunts and if a seasoned stunt man could get injured then Keanu didn’t do it. 37:44 he asked Viggo if the contract was open or exclusive and when Viggo said “open” that meant John was going to have many assassins on him so accepting the contract gave him a reason to be around without raising suspicion that he was helping John. This whole series was amazing. I first thought it was going to be like John Carter until I heard the plot about a guy going on a revenge mission for someone stealing his car and killing his dog. I had to check it out after that. There’s also a prequel three part tv show called “The Continental” that’s set in the 70s. 40:49 such a satisfying death. 42:34 he realized Viggo used his bullets killing Marcus and didn’t reload. 43:48 John allowed himself to be stabbed in the same place he was wounded before. 45:41 it was scheduled to be put down so John gave it a second chance at life hoping the dog would give him a second chance at having a life.
Marcus was always out to help John.......you notice when Viggo offered the Contract to Marcus he asked 'Is the contract exclusive?' to which Viggo answered that it was an open contract. Had Viggo said the Contract was exclusive Marcus would have said No because he didn't want to kill John, but because Viggo said it was open Marcus decided to accept in oreder to keep an eye on John and have plausible deniability, meaning he could blame others for messing up his attempts. Sadly, Perkins ratted him out.....
Why can no one shoot through glass. From what I've read, shooting through glass can change the trajectory of the projectile. I don't know if that's true, but I've heard it said. Marcus told Vigo he would kill John because he didn't want to be killed himself. He had no intention of killing his friend, and that's why he's helped him out.
John never misses a shot so I can believe this! Also it could be a very good plot armor..even with the glass maybe making a pillow for the initial shot
And John didn't want to scare or humiliate Iosef...he knew he already was. I believe this was plot armour. Seriously! John didn't even want this life anymore...I think he really wanted it to be his last breath at this club without anymore lives being spared!! He literally shot at him why he was in pool. If big dude didn't show up Iosef would've definitely been DEAD
Keanu love being 'John' he's been 'John' in at least, 10 of his films.... Johnny Utah - Point Break * Don John - Much Ado About Nothing * Johnny - Johnny Mnemonic * John Constantine - Constantine *John - Generation Um * Jonathan Harker - Bram Stoker's Dracula * John Wick - John Wick
In ancient Europe hunters wound find an open field then place a bait animal in the center. Then pour blood in a circle around the animal for the predator soon to be prey, to be lured out by scent of blood and animals fear in the air then it wound be killed by bow or musket. They want Yosef to been placed in a place (Red Circle Club) so John would pick up scent and come to kill him and the hoped they could kill John.

19:39 - Gold is a real currency and works across borders. The $100 dollar bills in your pocket are worth as much as toilet paper when sht goes down (something something money is only a receipt of a transaction of resource of value).
EDIT: This so much longer than i was intending😅
16:15 About his Lati tattoo
Fortis Fortuna Adiuvat is Latin and nowdays it is always translated as "fortune favors the bold".
Fortuna = a Roman Goddess personification of Luck and Fate a force that could as easily be good or bad (it also seems to be capitalises as nouns are.)
Adiuvat = AD "to/toward" + IUVAT "help/aid/save" in this case it could be translated as "Goddess (Fortuna) comes to save/aid".
FORTES/it is (only) the strong ones
FORTUNA/that Fortuna (The Goddess)
ADIUVAT/come to help.
IIRC, another part of his tattoo was identified as something to do with a particular branch of the US armed forces - I don't think it was the Marines though. I don't think there are any actual military units that use that as their motto.
the most powerful use of the word "Oh" in movie history
I love all John Wick movies and I am so happy watching your reaction! Greetings from Germany❤
❤️
This movie was the second time I cheered wholeheartedly for a character's death... the first being he who is universally hated from GoT. I saw it with my grandpa and we both cheered when he finally bit it!
16:09 He did say “Enough”when he kept silent, ever heard of the “Sound of Silence” (not the song) but the statement itself.
22:34 And now we're in the afterlife. Lance Riddick's character is named Charon, so very true.
I'm so glad when I saw this I knew nothing about it. No one I knew had seen it or heard of it apparently. I love this movie.
When I first saw the film in theaters I summed it up to, you don't f*ck with the one of the world's top Assassins in this universe, especially killing his dog that was a gift from his wife so he wouldn't feel/mourn alone
29:49 the doctor here is the same actor who the Key Maker in the Matrix movie, also with of course, Keanu Reeves.
the reason why Marcus got involved is cause he asked "is the contract exclusive", and when he heared that its public- he got in. there are many subtle things people didnt realise in a first watch. for example- John saying "she's not for sale" about the car to Theon (John's wife wrote that he need someone besides the car), which shows his affection towards it. when Jimmy saying "i'll leave you be then", he shows open hand, which is not "bye" sign but a pacifying gesture, meaning that hes going off, and, for me, it shows that they are not buddies, and even tho Jimmy knows who John is, and he works for law enforcements, they both still have mutual respect. exclusiveness of the contract on John's head and Marcus choice, which i wrote before, the last scene, when John going home with a dog of his choice, was the same place where his wife dies, and, if i recall correctly, there was the same exact coloration in both scenes, and, imo, it shows that John have a chance to move forward, and other things like that.
28:31 Unfair. We don't all have your jawline, Blake
If you like Lance Reddick then watch The Wire. Amazing show
or fringe.
RIP.
I always see in my head the role Willem Dafoe played in Platoon. Amazing.
The gun pointed at gun pointed at gun scene is from the movie face off towards the end
38:15 "Is that CRYSIS?"
Well, if it wasn't before, it sure WILL be....
When he asks Kevin Nash if he gained weight he was asking how many of Viggos men were inside and he said 60!!!
It was actually 27. They shouldn’t have converted it and they did. Still very impressive 😂
No, he was speaking Russian and told him in kilograms. I think he said 27.

Ian McShane
show had 3 seasons and a movie
You should also see Lovejoy, great British series.
He did most of his stunts himself. He also trained with the best firearms expert before this movie!
A lot of the dialog is BANGBangnANGbang[stab, squish, turn] baNGbAnG [Russian] BANG, ETC…
When there are actual words, there is a lot of character introduction, growth, interaction with other characters and you get each of their full stories from beginning to end, simply with minimal dialogue.
Keep going with the series, just gets better and better.
Keanu Reeve’s acting career has been around for a long time. Oldest movie I’ve seen with him is The Matrix.
You should watch Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure ^_^
@@LauraSnuggleBearright! Showing my age lol
The actor who “killed” the puppy didn’t just hold the puppy. He requested a full day with the puppy. They spent the day cuddling and playing together.
"Who Wears Designer Shoes to Murder?"
John Wick does......
For more Lance Reddick goodness, I hope you guys watch The Wire. He's also in Fringe.
The meme is from a tv show called “person of interest”
Marcus was always out to help John.......you notice when Viggo offered the Contract to Marcus he asked 'Is the contract exclusive?' to which Viggo answered that it was an open contract. Had Viggo said the Contract was exclusive Marcus would have said No because he didn't want to kill John, but because Viggo said it was open Marcus decided to accept in oreder to keep an eye on John and have plausible deniability, meaning he could blame others for messing up his attempts. Sadly, Perkins ratted him out.....
You either hate or love the Wick movies. I love them! The whole series is great. You should watch them all.
Did you not think 4 was disappointing?
The car that was given to John was a Chevelle.
YOU NEED TOKNOW MORE ABOUT WILLEM DAFOES AMAZING CAREER, IF YOU ONLY SEE HIM AS ONE CHARACTER. THE MAN PLAYED JESUS.
Awesome reaction of my favorite John Wick movie!!!!!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
The lawyer who works for Vigo is Dean Winters who’s from Allstate commercials.
I don't know why but it's always more fun to watch reactions from wrestling fans lmao. And yes, that was Kevin Nash.
He didn't miss any shots fired at reek. Those were all intentional to scare and humiliate him a little longer.
@@rebekahjackson5996 i feel like john is the kind of guy that knows the ballistic properties of all the local establishments frequented by associates
The Red Circle is just the club where they were protecting the son.
Keanu love being 'John' he's been 'John' in at least, 10 of his films.... Johnny Utah - Point Break * Don John - Much Ado About Nothing * Johnny - Johnny Mnemonic * John Constantine - Constantine *John - Generation Um * Jonathan Harker - Bram Stoker's Dracula * John Wick - John Wick
You guys saying 'oh he's John here too' as you think 'Silverhand' , whilst I'm over here thinking 'Mnemonic' .. xD
According to the director, the puppy crawled to John before it died. Oh and it is Mayhem .. the actor who is playing the lawyer :)
It wasn't a Camaro. It was a Chevelle.
As we say in Texas; y'all be safe.
The owner of the Continental was on GoT…the peaceful group leader.
