I just left the theater. The “how it happened” doesn’t need an explanation. Look around us and actually look at the state of the media today. That’s your explanation. This film is a beautiful warning if the cost of hubris.
I went into this expecting something wildly poltical and was very happy that it wasn’t. The press is on the side of WF simply because that’s where they were welcomed, safe and well known

@@CornPop_s_grandson I expected that. There’s only one allusion to anything that he really did. The reporters are deciding “what would I ask?” And one of the questions was “do you think you should’ve disbanded the FBI?”. I don’t really see him as Trump being as he’s very dry and bland. You could call him Biden too. The character is designed to be cardboard to really be any political figure in that post. It’s smartly done

I thought it was a solid film. It didn’t need anything political in the film. The only complaint about the film was some of the music choices in certain scenes. It took away the certain feeling you’re supposed to feel. Wasn’t sure if that was done purposely? 9/10 for me. Maybe 8.

Lee could have pushed them both on the floor and survived. I hated the ending unless she wanted to die. She started breaking down so I think she took the bullet to end herself

    • @crossbones6513

She's suffering from PTSD. Maybe it's her choice as she saw something from the kid when she was young and hungry.

    • @ScoundreLJ666
      @ScoundreLJ666 9 месяцев назад +11

Exactly. She’s haunted & even expressed it at one point, when she said how disappointed she felt after surviving warzones w/pics to show the horrors, her intent to say “don’t do this” but here her own country was “doing it” (i.e. failing to learn from wars elsewhere & not let it happen at home).
PTSD + world-weary existential depression + having just lost someone close; she’s exhausted & unraveling (barely even taking pictures until inside the W.H.). I can understand how/why she maybe didn’t care whether she lived or died anymore, & just reacted when she saw that Jessie was about to get shot.
She shielded Jessie, maybe on instinct, saving someone who still had hunger/hope/passion for the same calling she did; in that moment, saving Jessie (pretty much a younger version of herself) was all that mattered to her.
Beautifully tragic scene. Especially the (ironic?) way that Jessie’s immediate trauma -frozen, yet remaining focused on capturing history- without freaking out (or even checking on Lee) mirrors how Lee didn’t break when Sammy was shot. At first, both scenes struck me as callous, but under such extreme circumstances (war being the epitome of extremes), it feels (IMO) wrong to judge their actions, given the heightened stress, adrenaline, fear, the madness of it all.
On reflection after the film ended -moreso in Jessie’s case after Lee saved her life than Lee’s inaction w/Sammy (maybe they filmed her trying to stop him bleeding out, then cut it?)- it seems like Jessie was *honoring* Lee’s sacrifice by not breaking down…steeling herself, getting up & finishing her (& now also Lee’s) job/mission.
Definitely demands a 2nd viewing. Great film!

I get the idea about the movie and not getting into the “why” of the back story BUT we need some reality too. As of now in reality the western alliance would be the least military capable. California, Oregon and California have the most anti 2A laws and those in charge will this so. In reality they’d loose compared to states-alliances in the south. Some sort of back story is warranted and would have a broader appeal.

This movie, 2024 “Civil War” Movie opened… April 12th…. The firing on Fort Sumter, 4:00 AM April 12th, 1861. Loved the film. Surprisingly not political. Not much detail why, when, who but that is not the point. The effects of a Civil War… lack of transport, few cars, little gasoline, no law enforcement, no CHP (Highway patrol) , a lot more refugees I would expect. Big Cities need huge amounts of food and goods to be delivered and with little trucking, massive starvation! The 1st CW, the South had huge problems with food shipments breaking down by 1864… worn out trains and military taking most civilian wagons and horses. The South also had local militia and ruffians take over and was dangerous moving around. The most dangerous part in a war (civil or not) is the beginning and the end… when people are settling scores and filling up the mass graves…. Before peace breaks out

I think the movie portrays a unity of Americans at the end of civil war. We the notion they were very divided. per the camera shots at begining of the film, then they banded together. They showed hard leftist in a distasteful, they showed far right being distasteful. They covered the two extremes, the military that goes into DC is about the Americans finially unifying. And they do point out a interesting thing, the guve is not as protected as we are led to believe. They kind of show that the US military turned on the guve..They dont say it, but you get that notion.

A summary execution by the Western Alliance makes you wonder who the " tyrannical forces" were in this civil war. The map shows quite a number of "loyalists " states the US armed forces being defeated by "alliance forces" receiving assistance from an "international community "? I get the premise is to show the horrors of war, not to show the how or why, but when you see the summary execution of the opposimg leader again you have to ask yourself who was defending civil rights, the constitution, trial by jury? Were there outside agitators pushing the country to civil war? Think through the last 125 years, the only wars that end with summary execution of an opposimg leader were those that led to tyranny afterwards. Just a thought based on the review nothing more.

The movie was a total surprise for me. It was a solid, well made movie that kept me interested throughout. I love action films. Additionally, I was floored by the sound editing, and the stunning cinematography!
Seeing the trailers, I expected it would be a silly propaganda piece. After seeing it, I felt it was more of a 109 minute ground level war experience. The IMAX screening was really great for this type of movie.
Nothing is perfect; there was a disturbing reoccurring point expressed by the character selections that I thought was not cool. But I won’t say more than that.
I liked the chaos, the realism, the set design. And the performances.
I wonder if the Dolby experience is a lot different thanIMAX experience? What do you think?
If war movies are your thing, I recommend that you see this one.
