And yet rather than an interesting story about the collapse of safety, or showing how a ramping up in polarization lead to this, the actual Civil War aspect of the story feels more like a backdrop to a war road trip movie. In a world where Austin staged a secret take over, with help from the pretty blue Houston. Former Mexican territories unite!
In Bizzaro world.
Anything is possible and things change. Maybe not currently but could be somethijg plausable in 100 years
there IS a "civil war in america"; you just don't understand the difference between a HOT & a COLD war. amazingly enough.
once enough people flee California by voting for higher taxes, they would move to Texas and do the same, thereby putting them in the same boat. This is actually happening but very slowly. In recent years, people are moving to Florida over Texas through.
The jokes for this trailer were top notch
Yeah, somehow, they just are.
Say: "I'm taking my balls and leaving." in your best Vincent Price impression.
This might be the best one you guys have ever done. Like this is actually good film criticism, not just references lol
“How can that be profitable for Frito Lay?” - thank you Honest Trailers for reminding me of this line
"Here's a good idea: have a point. It makes it so much more interesting for the listener!" - Steve Martin
The point is that ANY scenario for a second American civil war would be bad for everyone. It doesn’t matter who started it or why, in the end everyone loses.
@@PMbarbieribad? For everyone? HAH, tell that to putin and xi jinping.
@@Pancasilaist8752Lol fair enough, but I think they were referring to the American people
The movie HAS a point! Just not the it seems people wanted it to have. People wanted statements and commentary on the current issues of the US and Alex Garland wasn't interested in talking about that.
@@Pancasilaist8752
I meant in America, of course a lot of external powers would benefit from the fall of the USA.

The Bear Honest Trailer WHEN
Civil War was the CSI Miami of war journalism movies. Obviously three random ap photographers lead the seal team into the final battle! Just like how lab techs lead swat teams into raids!
Cracks me up how the poorly organized soldiers somehow overwhelmed the Secret Service, the most elite protective force in the world, and didn't lose a single person.
I mean, it's not quite the same, but a bunch of idiots in Mardi Gras costumes managed to storm the Capitol. Nothing is better than absurd reality to demystify the myths surrounding certain institutions.
I don't know man. The SS have their share of misses. They failed with Kennedy, and Reagan got a non-fatal bullet wound. The CIA tried to kill Castro dozens of times, and he died of old age. Who's really better at protection?
Huh? They had air cover, tanks, armored Humvees and an over whelming force of men.
Not rocket science 😂
@@gureno19 yeah but no casualties?
I know those secret service agents were so fucking useless, I thought the secret service were supposed to be elite. Then in an earlier scene in the movie you had those amateur Hawaii shirted boogaloo boys defeating a squad of uniformed soldiers. So dumb
The fact that that wasn't even the worst of UK's politicians hits hard
+ The guy he called British is from New Zealand... & we don't have huge shouting matches on our news between politicians other than Farage raising his voice here & there.

I thought the title was what killed me but after "Coup, there it is" you hit us with "Somehow, Spectrum survived"
I kind of liked that the movie didn't take any explicit sides or talked about any specific issues. Also love Jesse Plemons.
I feel like doing so neutered the whole concept they were going with. We have this big striking imagery in all the advertisements, and the name CIVIL WAR implying it's a film that won't shy away from portraying the just how divided this country is. (A highly militaristic country, and one that still has a good portion of the nation waving the battle flags of the secessionists from the last civil war). And yet rather than an interesting story about the collapse of safety, or showing how a ramping up in polarization lead to this, the actual Civil War aspect of the story feels more like a backdrop to a war road trip movie.
(Also I feel whenever someone says "didn't take any explicit sides", I feel like they're afraid of whatever take showing some uncomfortable truths. Maybe humanizing a type of people that one aggressive side feels is automatically the enemy.)
We need a Futurama Honest Trailer!
Yes!!!

Jon Bailey aka Epic Voice Guy: _Awesome_ imitation of Nick Offerman's voice!
Edit: Plus Chris Farley in the Van down by the River!
that Nick Offerman credits you did referencing Parks & Rec is perfect. thank you.
For all the vagueness, the movie was pretty intense.
It's still insane to me that out of all the kids in the amazing show Friday Night Lights only freaking LANDRY went on to become a huge movie star 😂
It could have been a movie about the war, or it could've been a movie about war photographers, somehow they missed both.
Yes it sucked.

"How can that be profitable for Frito-Lay?"
"It's called a 'loss leader', numbnuts,
it gets you into the store to spend money,
which is the whole point of the exercise."
Jesse Plemons was also terrifying in the middle act of Kinds of Kindness with his monotone voice. Blaming Kirsten Dunst for starring in Melancholia isn't super fair, she's not responsible for what Lars Von Trier says.
In this civil war they called Captain Nascimento (from Brazil)
Still my favorite Wagner Moura's role.
"How can that be profitable for Frito Lay?" 🤔
When every other soldier has a gopro on their helmet, war photographers are like cavalry horses.
Photography is so much more than just a go pro on a helmet. The soldiers are just documenting
@@skippythecupcake Yeah, agreed. Photography is about framing a moment so it means something, drawing attention to important information and emotion. A GoPro doesn't really provide that level of control. Too many people think Photography, recorded real world videos and film are the same thing.
Agree with the other replies, but would like to add physics. Can't get around physics of proper lenses and large sensors.
I originally thought this was a TV show and now looking back on it. This really should’ve been a TV show just so we can flesh out this world more.

This is the most accurate one yet.
Called a guy British, when he's from NZ only off my 11,500 miles 😅
Why did he make this movie? Was it gold? A lust for power? Or was he simply born with a heart filled with neutrality?
It’s time to do “Falling Down” with Michael Douglas Mr. Voice!
That would be a masterpiece
I love how that movie is getting more love these days.
Thanks for validating my total absence of interest in this film
Filling up for a minor role only to end up being the most iconic in the movie simply because he has the same soulless and ruthless eyes of a psychopath.
I think americans would have less of a problem with it being unspecific if it wasn't about their country
Many of them would, yes. I would still find it completely devoid of any meaning, but that's just me.
It is supposed to be about America of course we’re picky!
They only care about it being unspecific because they wanted some Brit film maker to tell them that their own preferred politics are right and their opponents are _evil._ Mostly that last one.
When are we getting a Doom Patrol trailer? Or Titans? Lol
I enjoyed the movie way more than i was expecting 😂
