- Omega Workshop student violin set up. This video shows the care and attention that goes into preparing every violin sold by Omega Music. Make sure your violin dealer sets up the violin before buying. This video shows you the things you will have to do if they don't! www.omegamusic....
For those new to the violin be careful when you hear the word EXACTLY. Setting up a a violin initially means that there are standard tolerances and a competent luthier will use the standards as a guide. But no two violins are exactly the same so after the initial setup the violin frequently requires further tweaking. This tweaking often depends on what sound the violinist wants from the violin. For those who have no luthier to help them achieve the desired sound, search the web for some excellent step by step-by-step videos with great comments about doing the setup. If you are not confident about tweaking your violin, you can send it to a shop. Doing this will require making notes for the luthier as to what you want done to the violin. Include your email address and phone in case the luthier needs to get more information about your violin.
We are a local shop, in a town with a population of 8,000 people. Worrying people about damage in transit is unhelpful - over 1,000 a year and well under 0.5% with any problem with delivery. Anyone can come to our shop, but if they don't have a shop nearby (which many don't), or their local shop doesn't set up violins (which many don't), we offer a useful service. We're a family business who care about instruments - we're online too because we have to to survive.
Where is the 'how to?'
That was a neat trick with the pencil shading on the top of the bridge. I will remember that next time I have to adjust a violin bridge. There are no luthiers in Cairns !
Which piece is that in the Background?
I'm trying to get hold of an old violin which needs a little TLC so I can use it for an art project then hopefully repair it and set it up perfectly how I want it~ ^^ Good thing is, I've always had a bit of an obsession with violins and how they look, and have been playing for about a decade so things should be okay~
this didn't do anything for my new violin -.- I'm annoyed
SAME HERE....AND ITS STILL SILENT!
***** I did, for like an hour and still nothing
***** I have, and still nothing
+Sawyer Fay Did you put rosin on the bow? Without rubbing rosin on the hairs of the bow it won't make sound
bootiful woman yes i did, and it did nothing
Yes. There is an industry trick with a product called "liquid nails". You may have heard of it? It's a glue as strong as nails and they use it in the construction industr---
I'M KIDDING!! No the bridge floats in place, held down by the pressure of the stings. :)
If you glue the bridge to the violin, what happens when you need to change it out? It's only a very thin piece of unvarnished wood.
This guy handles this instrument like a surgeon!
The tool used to enlarge the peg box holes, where can I get this? What chemical did you use to soap the pegs?
Thank you.
i just bought a violin , im beginner
the fine tuner has only 3 screws, is it missing 1
What's the background music? Sounds beautiful.
Is a Amadi Violin copy a good one to start out with. I saw one in a music store today they wanted a 800.00. Please get back with me. And thanks for the workshop Terry
whats the name of the background music?
just came here to hear it...
i got a stentor graduate whats the
best strings to get the best warm sound
Shouldn't this be done before you get the violin by the sellers?
does anyone know where i can go to get my violin set?
how do i put my sound bridge back in?
For some reason my sound post has been out of place, so how do I place it back into the right position?
***** I did it with a fork and a piece of wire.. but you are right...
wow how did that happen
What's the green stuff you rubbed on the tuning peg? I've had huge problems with my tuning pegs slipping and not holding their position and it drives me f***ing crazy!
Probably lava soap. Various things can be used, ask around. There used to be special compounds sold by music shops for this.
When he first bows it, it sounds like theres no rosin involved.
the g string always buzes whats causing that?
That was about as much use as a chocolate fireguard
Its useful if you are choosing where to buy a violin. As a seller of violins, that is our focus.
@@OmegaMusicUK Then don't put "how to set up" in the title.
If you buy online like I did you are on your own. How about a video teaching how to actually set up. We are not going to pay a luthier Hundreds to set up a $180 violin. It seems I need to learn to fit a bridge. It’s not rocket science and with a little patience a monkey could do it.
@@sting1111 no, it's better to get a professional job. It's worth it, jus tlike getting a professional teacher.
@@PamelaMou1 that was my point and thank you for commenting. There is no one within 100 miles.
OmegaMusicUK Where to buy that piece of wood for checking the height of the bridge and how is called?
+Stefan Baltov Just make one, it is just a wedge of wood with measurements on it (home-made)
OmegaMusicUK out of curiosity, I'd like to make one so I can correctly set up violins when I get them . what are the measurements ? Thank You :)
Not just violins; any instrument. While you are teaching yourself where to put your fingers, you are also training your ears, whether you realize it or not. Better to get the best instrument you can; do the research, ask questions. I bought a "cheap" violin and that's how it sounded. I realized I was making a big mistake, so I turned it in on a much better violin; no mistake.
Besides, if you lose interest, at least you will have something decent to sell that other people will want.
What was put on the pegs?
good job
Super
The person who thinks this is un-neccessary for beginners is woefully ignorant! Beginners can sound wonderful but need all the help they can get. A good ear is learned and earned but not on a poorly set up instrument! This attitude, sadly, is why beginner violins have a bad reputation. You have to care about every detail right from the start, a millimetre is a long way on a small violn! Go and do something else sloppily!
Thnx ! This helps a lot
If you'd prefer - perhaps people could order them from Argos.
Is that all?
Super 💞
It was great thanks for uploading :)
My friend has a violin and when u try to tighten the strings, it just losens even more. She really wants a new one..
Try putting peg paste or chalk. Also the winding of the strings on the pegs affect the movement, if done incorrectly the pegs will slip.
it isn't, it is held in place by the strings .
Funnily enough over 1,000 violins each year DO survive just that. Packed in their cases, and then in special boxes we make for just the job, you know what? It turns out they're absolutely fine.
It probably has slippery pegs which can be easily sorted without needing to buy another one~
That was rather interesting.
i thaught that the bridge was fixed to the violin
useful
I dont see how 'professional set up' is so vital especially for a student (usually beginner), when one can just learn how to set it up just aslong as they have a good ear (which a violinist usually has already)
This time I will do it manually with the help of Woodprix designs.
My violin is broken the roller came out 😭
lol whats that?
ebay
It's simple, Just go to WoodPrix page - and enter the Eco World.
No it isn't.
so old
indeed :) lol
I'm sorry but I still want to say that since MY VIOLIN is also made by STENTOR, just like this one in the video, the bridge is terrible, which need me to use my little knife to fix it and the fingerboard is really ******. I just want to say that the world is full of liars but, maybe the truth is that I'm the only unfortunate guy, who ever knows that :(

Well my Violin is a piece of crap..
so old
