Mike, I just wanted to say that I absolutely appreciate the constant positivity you bring to this hobby. When I see people constantly shitting on Luke’s face, Vernestra, Basil, and The Acolyte in general, it just gets tiring after a while. Always nice to hear you talk toys and be one of the most prominent positive voices in this community. You are also absolutely right, your long form videos are also perfect background content for when I’m playing MLB The Show lol.

They’re not pulling a Mercenary Baylan here. Personally, I’ll be picking up both so I can put one on my light side shelf and one on my dark side one.
I second this. Mike, your videos are among the ones I look forward to the most and are always a joy. It's so easy to fall into negativity hell hole, especially with social media platforms going out of their way to suggest it. I had turned in my Star Wars fan card since all the fan behavior during the Prequel era, and simply catching Mike's offhand positive comments about The Last Jedi was like a subtle lightbulb that says "oh, I don't have to hate this." It's one of the main reasons I'm engaging with SW again, and I feel like I missed out on years of enjoying my favorite laser knights, oogie boogies, and their cool spaceships.
I watch everything you do, and have since basically day one. But I’m lazy and I rarely ever hit ‘like’. But that list of figures with the Gamo-thighs? My god, it compelled me to slap the like. Genius level stupid humour Mike. Brilliant!

Thanks Mike for a pretty exhaustive review! Great effort man. I agree that of all of these, the ANH Luke is the best and an amazing figure in its own right. Of the ones in this scale, it is right up there with the S H. Figuarts version - I even think the face sculpt holds up favourably. This is a 5/5 for me. I also love the Leia figure because realistically, if you go with the moulded plastic route, it’s pretty hard to get the same degree of action pose flexibility as you would with cloth goods. And the difference between the new and old version is like night and day. For that reason alone I would score it very high. I do think it deserves more than your relatively Ho-hum 3.5/5 score, but hey, that’s me. While the rest of the wave looks interesting in a variety of ways, they are not good enough to tempt me - I will very probably pass on all of them. Thanks again! Nice that you got them so early! Think you were ahead of everyone this time, even Landspeeder Luke, hehe.
As someone who owns the TVC variant of Leia, the problems are the same minus the double-jointed pinned knees. The key difference is that the "removed" hood on TVC has a peg to plug on the back while the "put on" hood can cover the peghole. Same accessories, thankfully. The photoshopped pins is a black mark against this figure's marketing and whoever at Hasbro did that must correct their mistake. I would get that Leia if I was still personally invested in TBS and it was the one I was the most concerned about.

I will enjoy the Leia and Luke for sure. That Farmboy look is destined for the Landspeeder. Leia will just be in the collection. I like the overall look. I have a soft goods figure or two for action poses if needed. Figs are preordered and they can show up whenever they want.
That new Tatooine Luke Skywalker figure is a great improvement. As much as I like the new Princess Leia, I am content with the previous Princess Leia figure.

My reasoning for Basil sabotaging Sol's ship was simple. He's a jedi ally and knows how Jedi should act . Sol was acting unhinged and about to shoot down Mae's escape pod... not very Jedi-like. So he intervened and sabotaged part of the ship.
I mean, that’s what you tell yourself is his reasoning. But the truth is, you’re inferring that from context, but nothing to confirm it. I really liked the acolyte, but I do feel like there was too much “make the viewer figure out motivations” is a valid critique.
I think it’s funny they announce it the day I put this up. But I’m fine with it, it’s different from just adding a cloak like like Shin or Baylan. The sculpt looks different which means I want both anyways.
Some one needs to take an arm from one of the Holocomm figs and shave the ball joint off and carve out a small circle foe like magnets in the arm and the side of the figure to make it look like a force arm.

So funny story about The Acolyte, I just met Manny Jacinto last weekend at Motor City Con. In talking about how cool the show was and how it didn't deserve it's early cancelation, he told me that the cancelation was made before the first episode even came out due to online response. It never got the chance to be judged by it's own merit. Gotta love the SWTheory effect 😡
you may be right that it was pre-judged pretty harshly...it doesn't change the fact that the show was terrible. The fact is, this initial controversy actually boosted the viewership for the first 2 episodes as "hate watching" - Had it turned out good, majority of people would have revaluated their initial expectations. but since it was messy and completely flawed, it it just met their expectations of being a shit show; which it was. The only possible merit this show has is that lightsaber fight: but I only merit that to the choreographer. The writing for this show was atrocious and politically motivated: which is equivalent to writing your own deathwish.
The show suck, period. Theory had nothing to do with it. If it was canceled that fast, if you watch his videos, he was excited for it. So if it was the initial online backlash he had nothing to do with it. The show just sucked end of story.
Do you really think Theory has that much power? Is it hard to accept that the show sucked for most of the people? Playing the victim card is getting tiresome.
I'm kinda pissed about these luke and Leia figures because like 2 weeks before these were revealed/leaked whatever I spent like almost $300 on the sh figuarts Han and Luke to replace the black series and was still on the lookout for figuarts Leia because I couldn't stand the black series figures of those!

I wouldnt try it myself, but if you do, let me know how it goes. Personally, there’s an online store that does nice 3D custom saber blades I’m sure will eventually give us a proper one, and I’d rather have the option for both styles.

My guess is it's to fit better underneath multiple layers of plastic dress. Multiple layers due to how the split pieces overlap on the sides.
3/5 Hasbro is now where it should have been 6 years ago, no ideas, no real progress with this figure.

Does the Leia use the Ewok Village Leia upper thighs? It's really hard to tell from a video.
Nope. Ewok village Leia has the newer style legs. This Leia has older style double jointed legs.
