    She is genuinely one of the most likeable, unproblematic and sweet young stars today and it’s so refreshing. She’s a true role model and so humble! In a world where young, impressionable people have the wrong kinds of role models in the world, Lana is just a real gem.

    A true role model! People like Lana should be celebrities.
    They give back as much as they get. She deserves all of her success. I hope she‘ll remain this humble and grateful. I‘m also aware of the privilege I have to have been born in a democratic country. 🙈

    When she talked about her body knowing she belonged there, I totally felt that. I'm not adopted but my parents are both from Russia and they refused to take me there to visit. But I was brought up totally involved in the Russian culture and language, it felt so unfair not to see the country. So the first time I ever went was when I was 23, and I felt so comfortable there. It really felt like a second home.

    What about boys though? Why are they not getting an opportunity to leave the orphanage?

    • @writerchick94
      @writerchick94 4 года назад +25

      in a lot of places families and communities will sacrifice a lot for boys to get an education, but the same isn't true for girls, so foundations like these try to close that gap that already exists. it's also been shown that educating women and girls helps lower rates of domestic abuse, raises household incomes, and revitalizes communities for everyone in that community as women become empowered and knowledgeable enough to not suffer in silence to survive, earn their own income, and help raise other community members up. everyone deserves an education, but often its the girls who are systematically denied that rather than the boys.

    • @MonumentToSin
      @MonumentToSin 4 года назад +3

      Girls are twice as likely to be given up over boys in Asia. There's a lot of orphanages that only have girls because families will choose to keep their sons but not daughters.

    • @marinagemoftheseas
      @marinagemoftheseas 4 года назад +1

      @@MonumentToSin Yes, but no one chooses to be an orphan. Children don't become orphans just by being given up, sometimes parents die. And whether or not there are more girls in orphanages, there are STILL boys in orphanages. No one chooses to be born a boy or a girl, no one chooses to be orphaned, and that shouldn't be held against them. Only putting programs to help one type of orphan whilst the other is just left there is quite cruel in my opinion. Helping orphans at all is very good, but I know I couldn't just go to sleep every night that I helped one type of child and left the others to rot.
