This is what an independent thinker looks like. Always questioning themselves, always unsure about what they know, often wondering if maybe they're the crazy one. So much respect for the hard work you do and the courage you have to try to find truth. And for speaking so others don't think they're crazy too.
I spent time in the Literature program at UEA from 2002-2003 as an international student, and the entire sequence of events she described there would have rung absolutely true even if I hadn’t already heard rumors. It was an extraordinary place.
Just because you can't afford a house in the city doesn't mean you can't afford a house. Moving into small towns and suburban areas provides a wonderful quality of life for a young family. When we bought our house it would have cost twice as much for the same house in the city than it did in a small town only a half our out. I find we only talk about urban dwellers and not anyone else. Sure getting rid of cars when you live in a city may not be a big deal but if you live outside of the city you have to have a vehicle. Too many government policies are only taking in consideration the wants or needs of city folk which will negatively impact the rest of us. We would be smart to limit urban expansion and encourage young adults to move out of the city and contribute to a robust economy in middle America/Canada.
BB's characterisation of the difference between US and Canadian culture could easily be applied to New Zealand, and to some extent Australia. - especially larger Australian cities. Rural Australia has more of the US character.
Melanie raises a good point about our views being shaped via an echo chamber , I am Canadian and saw my self as progressive left of center with the all the comfortable assumptions that I was naturally correct, but that has changed, for it is impossible to ignore the tragic outcomes of progressive policies. Now I seek information from multiple sources and viewpoints, it’s sobering to realise how much I got wrong.
Hello from British Columbia 🇨🇦 thank you for this episode! ❤ Lindsey and Benjamin! Very similar to my experience in waking up to this nonsensical garbage! I got called a TERF and a Nazi when I engaged in conversation with a fellow coworker who was newly M2F transition. I was so kind and open to this 60 year old 'woman' (AGP I strongly suspected), but I could not accept the idea of puberty blockers for kids so I quit a job I absolutely loved!
I so appreciate the former progressives of our classical liberal cohort calling out to their social detriment via discussions like this the soul and society destroying actions of those that so consciously do these harms. What the Benjamin’s and Jordan’s don’t do well by more often just skimming above the last layer of the underlying psychology is distill down to the motive, the simple psychological “why” these enablers do such evil and just call them on that every time. We humans are all fundamentally insecure. What we experience in life piles in. These insecurities in varying degrees of intensity manifest themselves behaviourally in a wide-ranging display. Often, they simultaneously fuel more than one bad or antisocial behaviour. To dull the mental anguish of self-pity, hate, hurt, loathing, some drink to the level like my father and close friends did of being alcoholics. Today’s modern manifestations are often taking dangerous hard drugs even though they know better. When trying to understand my father’s various behaviours those decades ago as he ranged and often raged through his and others alcohol fueled evenings, I saw a lot of this self-loathing. I also often saw them try to entice the not needing to drink as much friends around them to “join them” and drink in similar volumes. This I learned was them trying to ease their pain by getting them to join them in their mental cesspool so they wouldn’t feel so bad and alone in their misery. Those today that Jordan called the modern day Mengele’s of gender affirming care are I think afflicted by the same underlying mental health issues. It is why when I encounter those types and offer my opposition to their disgusting beliefs that are not based on science what so ever, and tell me that I am a (insert here whatever term) I simply counter back that I’d rather be what they say I am, rather than what they are and they are the self-loathing immature ones that need to grow up. The Beatles were not right enough when they wrote All We Need is Love.
Yes, but maybe a different bingo card. This guest should be deeply interviewed to provide an meta analytical profile of how sabotaging agents behave in a certain kind of role, and to help others recognise agents shallowly parroting positions.
22:30 Canadian man just won his case to fly to the u.s. for surgery for a penis and vagina on taxpayer money... I just saw a video from the Canadian Constitution Foundation on a woman who was given months to live and Canada wouldn't do the surgery, so she went to the states where they saved her life and she asked Canada to reimburse her. Canada refused her on the grounds, literally, that her doctor offered her a different treatment... That treatment was... painkillers to keep her comfortable until she died. She lost the case and now Canada is suing to get their court costs from the CCF for bringing her case against them.
very interesting. the one who is against wokism in Canada says at least twice that they “woke up” politically in recent years. strange times we live in
@@peterbills4129 Hey, you're listening to James Lindsey too much. 😄 I like listening to him, but he's a mathematician and philosophy nerd. He's not a biographer or an expert in spiritualism.
Time to understand " full spectrum dominance" of discourse - to understand why agencies develop representatives to ACT as leaders re many different real concerns and policy positions that are inconvenient to those the agencies serve. ( And simultaneously of course they infiltrate, groups and track people who hold the inconvenient positions. ) Some agency actors are of course less convincing than others. Some are so unconvincing and incoherent that it's hard to understand why people don't spot them immediately).
I still think Shellenberger is 99% correct abt all things climate change and environmental. I mean basically, sure it's real, however it's not the apocalypse (...surprisingly?)
Of course, when we mostly say "oligarch" in normal conversation, most ppl are not referring specifically to Yarvin's repurposed Aristotelian trichotomy. But rather, to the typical connotation/context, alla Russian pseudo-warlords. So I mean, yeah, to be clear: bad thing is bad.
Very similar to her earlier interview with BB . Also a very thin caricature of common positions , as is common with those playing the infiltrating role this guest is playing.
1:00:10 Not necessarily any disagreement here, but I always plant a flag: because actually (even though it seems messed up) as far as the LAW is concerned, it practically IS an open menu of messed up stuff, unless ppl are seriously, physically injuring each other and violating consent (granted, some of these issues probably even cross THAT line). It's true that "small c conservative" pushback is needed, it's just that that ought to entail a civil society/cultural movement for the most part, and mostly shouldn't involve taking legal measures.
I know plants like greenhouses and Co2 and that neomalthusian have been trying to scare people with many apocalyptic scenarios predictions that have proven to be false over time
Chemtrails: good grief, go and talk to a commercial airline pilot. Planes nowadays fly at higher altitudes. The further up you go, the lower the temperature. So guess what happens to water vapour (major combustion product) when admitted to low temperatures. It's not rocket science.
[Unrelated] Biden dropped out Harris is candidate, I would NEVER have voted for Trump before, but Harris might actually be an EVEN MORE dangerous lunatic. (Personally I'm now between voting for Trump, or not voting, still leaning toward not voting).
I don't understand how yourself not voting improves the situation. But, then, I'm Australian and we have "compulsory voting" which really means turning up to a polling booth (or collecting and casting a postal vote if you have good reason e.g. live too far from a polling booth, infirmity, witness protection etc), accepting a ballot paper and putting it in the ballot box. So, most people decide to cast a vote. At least voting, your one tiny vote can influence "the least worst option".
@@carolynbrightfield8911 Agreed usually, except this qualifies as an un-improvable situation imo, practically without a least worst option available, that's my point.
