Go good! Not just ask and answer, the interviewer is genuinely interested, which always makes for a great interview. Plus Ezra and Rostam had astounding answers.
I like the truth that comes out of this interview and i love indie because they don't have to play by the rules they can do what they want no matter the ethnic background , genre , and they make their own music and lyrics.
The "Whiteness" question the Rostam brought up was probably my favorite Qtv moment in a long time. It definitley shows the difference between Q and a lot of other shows - it seems like Jian projects a calm demeanor that puts a lot of his guests at ease, to a point where that kind of issue can be brought up and not blown out of context. Jian seemed kind of caught off guard at first, but he embraced it pretty quick. Plus at 6:37 he talks like Sean Connery accidentially! tee hee!
@LearnedHand2008 The girl in the photo wearing a ralph lauren polo top was used for a reason the first one is that it's called contra and the girl wearing the polo top ( looking rich) in comparison with her somewhat clueless face shows that those sort of people aren't all that and that they're against having that sort of image like in the song I think UR a contra the lyrics says : " you wanted good schools and friends with pools you're not a contra" and basically Ezra isn't about these things
@LearnedHand2008 This is also coming from a middle-class person i'm far from rich :) , but that's what he wanted the album in relation to the girl to mean
@LearnedHand2008 The analogy doesn't hold up. You're comparing the thematic aspects of their songwriting with its appeal. They never claimed that the "element of commentary" was what was selling their records, merely that it tends to be overlooked by their detractors. They're not glorifying themselves in this way, they're just defending themselves against people who have a tendency to dismiss them at face value. If we can take you as the figurative litmus paper here, it would appear they failed.
@LearnedHand2008 I fail to see the intuitive leap you've taken there. It seems like you're not observing objectively but rather extrapolating wildly to affirm what you already believe. You're welcome to do so, obviously, just don't expect anyone to agree with you who doesn't already.
Probably the best VW interview, no questions about "so where did you get your name?" Good interviewer.
"batman--uh--gleej??" loooool
They used to blare Vampire Weekend at Borders when Borders existed.
That's perfect book store music

4:26 is so awesome. I want to listen to him say that over and over again.
6:06 this is so awesome to hear ezra's thoughts of the bands image and what their music means to them
Rostam is adorable. This interview was really good.
I think Ezra is so well spoken and Rostam has such good points of discussion, and then poor CT and Baio have to sit the interview out.
Why not let them leave the room? So awkward to have them sit off to the side.
man, what a great interview. Well done, QTv
I love watching all of this interviewer's interviews!
Ezra reminds me so much of a guy i dated, they share the same haircut, babyface and posture oh lord
Ezra said "silly"
omg
Rostam's an interesting guy.
I love these guys. They're very very smart, and make wondeful music. :) Also, Ezra is my dream hahaha.
Ezra is absolutely adorable:)

@larathelizard I guess ivy league does that. I agree, i really enjoyed liestening the interview. They're very calm and make some strong points
Evocative seems to be one of Vampire Weekends favorite adjectives. I've heard in like ten different times in four different interviews.
Welcome to Canada.
Rostam is Persian :]
Wow. Some pretty powerful tension between Jian and Rostam there.
They played a show in Toronto in October so I assume they did this interview on the day of.
@TheAnarchoKommie Yeah, he is.
it's true.
Ezra's eyelashes are so long and pretty!

ezra has suprisingly little pitch control over his voice while speaking.

wow Ezra is cute AND clever!!!
@LearnedHand2008 This is also coming from a middle-class person i'm far from rich :) , but that's what he wanted the album in relation to the girl to mean

@larathelizard Ezra went to college for English
Dude, they're all flirting with each other.
most interesting part of the interview is when jian and rostam discuss whiteness.
Ezra appears on the video of Duck Sauce:Barbra Streisand.

they should move to california so i can stalk them properly
Ugh i wish people would stop being so jealous and stop talking about their backgrounds in interviews. it is getting soo old.
whiteness
ezra has a nasally voice but not when he sings
ezra's voice annoys the hell out of me
