- Brooklyn's indie superstars Vampire Weekend have a new album out entitled 'Contra' and they stopped by Studio Q to play songs off of it. Here is their song 'Horchata'.

One of the few great bands of our generation.
I’m irish and this is how i learned about what horchata is, I often make it now
I love how he manages to sound exactly the same as in the albumsss ! :)
Being that they're all ivy league students, I guess it isn't coincidence that all of their work sounds sort of "scholarly".
I would have never noticed it, except for Step.
I know they are good at their instruments but they could have never been taught that unique style and the way they come up with these wierd and wonderful lyrics 😂, I really really need that new album, wonder have they released it yet

I just saw the keyboard - they've put black tape over part of the name leaving AHA on the back. Love it.

I seriously had to pause it and take the first 10 seconds in. Wow. His voice is perfect, and so is the instrumentation. I've never heard a live version sound so much like the recording.

I believe it's a Yamaha VSS30 or something in the VSS range. They used them a few times on the album.
Lovely guitar lines on this version, pity the camera never seems to capture the fingerwork.

@mswesson has to be a mix of tuning, the tape and tissue on the head and the use of a soft drumstick.

He uses the Yamaha VSS-30. Yamaha's take on the Casio SK-1.

@SazzieChan Never you say? Brandon Fowers is amazing singer live as well. I like guys like Ezra and Brandon because they tend to stay away from audio enhancements as much as possible, so people can hear their actual voice.
