    Sorry for the long comment!
    Thank you so much for your videos. I got my gecko early December and she is my life now. Today marks the milestone of her letting me handle her. I've been placing my hand in her enclosure about an hour after feeding for 5-15 minutes at a time. She used to hide, then she would just stare, then she would approach and smell my hand. Today she climbed on and stood on my hand for the first time. I didn't lift her because I was afraid that I would spook her. I let her climb on, lay for around 10 min, and climb off when she wanted. Thank you for making these amazing videos, and if it wasn't for you I would have never gotten my little baby girl.

    This is exactly what I needed! I have a Tangerine Leopard Gecko, and this is happening to here right now! When I first got her she had stuck shed on her tail. We will be taking her to the vet, me and my mom followed your "how to help your leopard gecko with stuck shed' and the shed isn't coming off all the way. This video was so helpful to me and especially to my leo! Thank you so much! (By the way I love your videos!)

    My geckos toe rotted off before. My geckos toe got strangled by stuck shed because when I first got her I didn’t know she needed a humid hide to help her shed. I was on vacation for about a little less than a week so The shed went unnoticed. I got back from vacation and half of her toe looked black and brittle and I panicked. I emailed a vet as soon as I saw this and they said she could have snagged the toe or it was caused from stuck shed but I am assuming it was stuck shed because I didn’t have a humid hide. They also told me to add the humid hide in the future and bring her to the vet. I had to wait a few days or so for my dad to ride me over to the nearby exotic vet (he has work). I googled what to do in the mean time and emailed a couple of experienced gecko owners. I kept the tank as clean and simple as possible to avoid infections and injury to the toe. I soaked her feet in warm water and let her dry her feet by walking on a towel. After I would soak her feet daily I had to apply some kind of Neosporin (this was about 2017 so I don’t remember exactly what kind but I’m sure you can still find what kind of Neosporin is safe for reptiles on google). The toe ended up healing nicely before going to the vet so I was told that she didn’t really have to go at this point since the wound was basically done healing. The rotten part of the toe had fallen off and the “nub” left over looked fine and sealed by skin. It healed up really well. She doesn’t have a full toe now but she is healthy other than that. Currently, She has part of her toe still there but it’s only half and it’s doing fine too. She doesn’t seem affected by having only half of a toe either because she climbs around her tank and on people pretty well. She eats normal and acts normal. Hasn’t had any stuck shed since I put a humid hide. It was a scary experience and I’m not letting her lose anymore toes

    • @leopardgeckotalk
      @leopardgeckotalk  5 лет назад +2

      aw yeah thats scary! it's a shame the toe went, but its good you learnt from that experience. Some people still dont realise after one toes gone, and it loses the rest :'(

    Remove stuck shed on Leo’s are actually easier than most ppl think(don’t u hate the little piece of shed on their tiny toes, plz don’t mistake their nails as stuck shed cuz I did and their nails don’t grow back) . This is my go to option bath them in a container(with a lid), nothing too small or too big, with water mix with baby oil. Let them in for 15 mins. Then take them out, cuz it’s impossible to do this while they in the container cuz they are just too sensitive. Then when they r on ur hand or arm or whatever, use the other hand to gentle rub stuck shed, and dip some of water , repeat the process. And when the shed is about to come off just use the tip of ur finger to grab it.

    • @SteviiLove
      @SteviiLove 5 лет назад +2

      A wet q tip works wonderfully to help remove the stubborn toe skin! It also helps in making sure you don't rub too rough with your fingers

    • @leopardgeckotalk
      @leopardgeckotalk  5 лет назад +1

      Stuck shed is a pain when its on their toes, I've found its easier to remove if you just put them in a shallow dish of luke warm water. I don't use oil or anything.

    I was surprised that my Leo I rescued had all his toes considering he was never given a humid/moist hide in the entirety of his life before me, so seeing he didn't have stuck sheds was surprising.
    The first 3 sheds in the time he's been with me, he had a little bit left on his toes. He didn't enjoy soaking so instead I would dip his little feet in some warm water then with a wet q tip I'd gently rub it off. After the 3rd shed, he's been shedding very smoothly and actually uses his humid hide. I don't think he understood the purpose during those first 3 sheds because he didn't use it til after the 3rd shed, poor guy.

    I rehomed an old leopard gecko because the owner was moving. I have never seen this gecko in my life so it was sorta a suprise. I brought him home with the tank and such. When i got him out of his enclosure to take a look i was very suprised. His tail looked to have fallen off earlier in his life and regrew it because it was all lumpy and not normal looking. Also his toes had multiple layers of stuck shed on them. I gave him a good soak and they easily peeled off. His toes were purple and some were even bleeding. Its been several months and he is in great health. Im so happy i could give him another chance.

    When I got my Leo Luna she already has the tips of 2 of her toes missing most likely from bad shedding in those areas. The pet shop most likely failed to remove her stuck shed. I got my very first leo from a shop and it had a small band of skin around its leg. I later realized it was an issue once the leg started to swell a bit. I then removed the skin and all was well again! It's important to note that this only worked because the leg wasn't rotted. Just simply swollen.

    So, if i keep his diet good n varied, keep him alone (as in without other lizards, obviously lots of cuddles from me :D) and keep him bathed & all his shedded skin off, i should be fine with tail rot? Im just scared cos ive never owned one before, and i really hate illness & stuff.

    I dont know what im doing wrong, ive had 3 geckos that ended up with some necrosis, I gave them supplements calcium, and multivitamins and always helped them shed with lots of humidity, and I lost them to the necrosis still, I haven't injured them at all either. I mainly fed them crickets and mealworms and I thought they would be fine but they didnt end up that way. Whenever I tried to contact a vet my parents would fail to treat it as an emergency or there were never any available reptile vets, should I just stop owning reptiles?

    • @TwistedPotato

      I had heat mats for them too around 90°F

    Hey Rebecca. I was just wondering where you got your 60x45x60 enclosure? I have only seen them for around £150 and was hoping that where you got yours sells them for a little bit cheaper? :)

      I actually got the tank with lyra, someone was selling her - managed to get her and her tank for £90, pretty lucky. You could always look on freeads, gumtree, facebook market place :)

    My gecko is only a few weeks old and isn’t used to me yet. He hasn’t been eating and he’s been very moody and has not been very active, and I can tell he’s about to shed. He isn’t ok with crawling on me very well yet, so if skin gets stuck how would I remove it?

    • @leopardgeckotalk
      @leopardgeckotalk  5 лет назад +1

      unfortunately you have to just try to handle him and remove it. When i first got minnie (gecko in vid) she kept having bad sheds on her tail... so you can imagine a untame gecko, me not wanting to touch her tail, thinking its going to drop off, but having to carefully pealing it lol.

    Do you need to weigh your leopard gecko? If so what should i buy to weigh it and how often do i have to weigh it?

    • @leopardgeckotalk
      @leopardgeckotalk  5 лет назад

      I just do it as its handy to know what their usual weight is. I use digital kitchen scales. Babies I'd weigh weekly, juvis maybe every 1 or 2 weeks, and adults monthly. You dont have to :)

      Slimey Unicorn123 any brand will do. If you get Repashy Calcium Plus you won’t need anything else, it’s an all in one. Use it every feeding but not in the tank or with UVB

    I need to ask you a question because my leopard gecko drogon he’s only 1month old and I’ve been using kitchen towels because I know not to use sand but I read up you can use tiles and stuff like that then I went to a tile store and I bought a tile of real marble and I was wondering if that is ok because I always try and do research before I get it but I tried and i didn’t find anything saying you can or you can’t

    • @fionashepley478
      @fionashepley478 5 лет назад

      Xiwolf Gaming unless it’s textured it’ll be too slippery to walk on easily, and it may or may not heat up properly. Once your gecko is six months old I recommend dry eco earth or a bioactive substrate

    Hi, Im getting a lot of criticism on a leopard gecko forum at the moment, the reason is Im planning on getting a leopard gecko and I decided on a wooden vivarium, I was planning on putting the heat mat inside the vivarium as you do and controlling it via a thermostat and thermometer but Im still getting a lot of heat, any thoughts?

    • @fionashepley478
      @fionashepley478 5 лет назад

      Which forum? That’s completely fine.

    • @leopardgeckotalk
      @leopardgeckotalk  5 лет назад

      thats totally fine. Most people use glass where you have to put it on the outisde. Vivs aren't as common in places like America, and so they dont realise you can put heat mats inside a viv - i mean you have to, the heat wont travel through the wood :)

    Hello! I would value your opinion on 2 issues regarding my leopard gecko. Firstly, I worry about Godzilla eating his Eco Earth substrate; it seems he always gets some in his mouth when eating. Secondly, despite my efforts, Godzilla is so frightened when I try to hold him. I speak softly, don't make sudden movements, don't grab him from above. Please help! I do not get good advice from the pet store at all!

    • @leopardgeckotalk
      @leopardgeckotalk  5 лет назад

      you could always try having a piece of slate in the tank, and placing the food on that if you feel your gecko is accidentally picking up too much. Have you tried scooping your gecko up from the side?

    • @fionashepley478
      @fionashepley478 5 лет назад

      Ingesting some eco earth is nothing to worry about. They’ll pass it it’s fine with the proper temps. Let him climb onto your hand without forcing him out and hand feed sometimes.

  • @taylorpatterson8845

    I'm not sure if my bearded dragon has tail rot. It's not hard or withered or rotting, but it's all of a sudden a bit dark. She's a year old, so she doesn't shed but once in a blue moon. Should I be concerned? Just in case, I've been treating it with Betadine and Neosporin without pain relief. And it's not spreading.
