That first acoustic track was amazing..amp in front of the iPad mic..simply micing the amp..I gave this a shot over a year ago Patrick..and was amazed with the quality of the recording..p.s…I have the VisualEQConsole plugin

Hello, I don’t know why but my ipad cannot record any guitar lick I try. My interface picks it up and I can hear what’s playing through it but my ipad isn’t picking it up whatsoever. Maybe there is a setting I’m missing or something i do not know but it’s getting to me. I’m using the M track solo

Grear video! I'm just starting out using Garageband on my Ipad Air (Generation 4) with a Spark amp and condenser mic also. Can you tell me if I need an audio interface and if so, which one so they can all be all plugged in as well as using my own guitar?
Thanks just purchased an iPad Pro 2020 upgrade from a 2017. It didnt click for me about the USBC until I received it. Just ordering all the cables and hubs I need for a headphone jack included to use for monitoring when recording vocals. Thank as always for your insights!

As a beginner guitar player I've heard it’s a good idea to record yourself and listen to the playback to see where you need to improve.
Given that basis, I'm thinking of purchasing something like the Focusrite 2i2 or Solo to connect my guitar to my ipad air 4 via the usb-c and use GarageBand to record. However, the audio interfaces are powered from the ipad usb-c port. Has anybody any idea how long the ipad battery will last while powering the input and running GarageBand? Would it be better to use an audio interface that has its own power connector, and if so, what would b3 a good one (on performance par with the Focusrite units?
The Universal Audio Volt’s work great with the ipad.
please do one on writing drum parts. there is already a lot out there about inserting these stock drum beats but almost nothing out there about creating your own beats and fills.

I wonder if you have a recommendation on a way to both charge the iPad and connect a USB-C audio interface to the USB-C iPads. With my iRid HD2 and a USB-C hub, the iRig does not appear to be recognized (it does work if plugged in directly).
I’ve tried two different mixer/interfaces. Zoom Livetrak L-12 and Tascam Model 12. My 2022 iPad M2 iOS 16 doesn’t recognize them. Any advice?

Hi! I’ve just bought a 10th gen. iPad. The only way to use GarageBand with a microphone while I’m using my earphones is to use my iRig 2. However, when I connect the iRig to the iPad the volume goes up to the max. I’ve tried moving the volume wheel on the iRig, with no effect. Besides, when I connect the earphones to the iPad (no iRig this time) it doesn’t let me use the built-in microphone. Do I need to change anything on the settings of the iPad? Thank you.
Hooking up Squire strat to ipad via Tascam iXZ works fine. However, hooking up strat to ipad via Steinberg UR22C audio interface (using powered hub) causes significant hum. Hum disappears when i touch audio interface, guitar strings or metal ends of guitar cord. Hum gets worse if i use the hi-z option on the audio interface. Is there a way around this or stick with the lower quality iXZ for electrical guitar recordings?
I suppose noise gate in GB is always an option. Just want to make sure i'm not going to end up getting zapped with electrical current.

First of all, thanks for your video. For information, I use a ipad-air USB-C and an audio interface Behringer 204 HD. SO , a usb-b to usb-c cable (therefore: original output from the Behringer interface to ipad air input) works perfectly. The power supplied by the ipad is sufficient, no problem in use. A french musician.

@@jinfield Hi. Yes it does it. My ref : ipad air 2 last generation (i think 5) on Garage Band and Behringer UMC 22 and for information the Behringer power consumption is no greater than if you are running heavy software. In fact everything is working perfectly ! 😊🎸

Why not the UAD Volt1 interface which is not very expensive and has a separate power supply and Midi sockets ?
Hello, thanks for this video. I have a Motu M4, but am experiencing audio glitches and distortion when playing back back from my iPad. I am running AUM from my iPad. Have you ever experienced glitches or audio cutting out while connecting to an interface?
I’m having a similar issue. Going from a Motu M2 direct to an iPad 11pro and I’m getting a some really bad intermittent distortion just while playing. I’ve used other gear to isolate everything but the interface to iPad connection. Anyone able to successfully resolve this?
I thought you were going to show us how to record into GarageBand with an external device. How do you switch the input? By default GarageBand wants to record the built-in microphone.

The free software is only compatible with desktop computers unfortunately!
My biggest problem is that I want to connect my pocket operators or korg nts-1 or monotron duo or roland t8 to my ipad pro 2020 model that has NO headphone jack and is usb-c. How can I do this? Any ideas? Thanks.

I just use a Yamaha THR, connect to iPad as audio interface, monitors, and wireless system. And acoustic guitar could use IR too.

Thanks for the great video. Got the Motu M2 but I’m getting some distortion/with the connection from the interface to the iPad. It’s an 11pro and it’s damn near brand new. Possibly a bad cable? I’ve isolated all the other connections/cables. Any tips would be appreciated. It’s basically unusable at this point. Thank you.
Very strange. I have an identical setup (Moto M2 and iPad Pro) and don’t have any issues. You may be right about the cable?

Does proper audio interfaces shorten the battery life of ipads? It's crazy that technology has reached this far, but I'm a bit worried about the energy consumption of such a direct connection in the long run.
iPads batteries outright SUCK in terms of battery life. Mine drains very quickly, but also charges quickly
I find that Green multi interface extremely frightening, one wrong move and you rip apart the whole USB-C nest on your expensive iPad. The less junk hanging from that one little USB-C plug the better. What about a small 1' or 2' cable extension?

Was the iRig HD2 not compatible with USB-C at some point? Scrolling through the Q/A on the Amazon page has been endlessly confusing.

How did you monitor your guitar sound? Through the monitor of audio interface or audio jack from the green?
The acoustic guitars? I plugged the Ugreen hub in and monitored through headphones.

@@bobbyhermans For the Acoustic guitar demo I had the headphones attached to the Ugreen hub's headphone port. For the iRig Pro I/O & audio interface demos, I had the headphones attached to the interfaces headphone ports.

I’ve read that for the “proper audio interfaces” it is required to use not only the usb adapter but also a powered usb hub to get the power to the interface 5:32. Is that true?
That’s not required with an iPad with a USB-C connection. Lightning based iPads however DO require extra power.

All of the interface inputs in the video are combo inputs. You can attach your guitar jack or an XLR cable to them.
I have got a presonus audiobox itwo which I used to connect with an iPad 2nd gen using lightning cable. Recently i have upgraded to iPad Air 5,which has the usb c connection. I tried to connect the cable that comes with the ipad using a usb a to usb c converter, but the ipad is not recognising the device. Anyone facing the same issue? Any suggestions are really welcome
I just got the same presonus box, and hooked it up to my iPad air 5. Did you make sure to connect the USB2.0 plug on the presonus to some kind of power source? I connected mine an Apple power plug. Along with that, I connected the USB A connector on the presonus to the USB C connector on the iPad. Everything works. I can control the GB instruments with the KB of my synth, and the audio output of the synth to audio tracks in GB
I've been in the telecommunications industry for 40 years and have come to the conclusion that I don't like Apple products. I use Apple products at work, and when I get home, I use my Samsung products. Are these interfaces compatible with Android devices?
Possibly, but if do it’ll be on a product by product basis. Check the manufacturer’s website before purchasing 👍
