For the iPad pro, adapters that DON'T have a 3.5mm jack are better because they don't prevent the onboard speakers from working when you plug in. Apple makes a 9$ USB-C to 3.5mm jack adapter if you need to plug in headphones or external speakers.

It's not in stock anywhere in the UK.

    **Question:**:)
I’m looking for a USB-C switcher that allows me to connect my USB-C EarPods to both my Mac Mini (for WhatsApp/Zoom calls) and my Pixel 7 Pro (for cellular calls). Here are the specifics of my setup:
**Mac Mini:** Running macOS Ventura, primarily used for WhatsApp and Zoom calls.
Pixel 7 Pro: Running Android 13, used for regular cellular phone calls.
**USB-C EarPods:** Standard USB-C EarPods with built-in microphone.
**Requirements:** The switcher should support seamless switching between devices without needing to unplug and replug the EarPods. It should also maintain audio quality and microphone functionality across both devices.
Does anyone know of a USB-C switcher that can handle this setup?

I'd recommend the Anker 6-in-1. I've tried a Satechi USB-C Hub for Ipad Pro, Hyperdrive GEN2 6-in-1, a UGREEN iPad Pro Hub and the Anker. This were my findings:
Satechi: HDMI port didnt work. Not sure if it had to do with a faulty unit, but I instantly sent it back.
Hyperdrive: Was fine, but bulky and didn't support Dolby Vision HDR when connected to my TV.
UGREEN: Good amount of ports, but when Dolby Vision was activated on my TV while watching Netflix, it had this weird distorted pink image, so sent it back.
Anker: This one does support Dolby Vision, looks sleek and has all the ports I needed. Decided to keep this one.
You can always hook up a USB hub to the USB-A port if you need more ports.

thx for vid. i kind of like a usbc cable>ipad style adapter rather than a flush attached adapter because i pick up my ipad a lot, also with a flush adapter the cables are hanging their weight directly on the usbc ipad connection (if you pick up or move your ipad). if the anker or ugreen beat all others i might also want a usbc cable extender to keep the flush mount on the table and only a lightweight wire hanging from the ipad itself. also then you can pick up the ipad without disturbing other gear.

what I’m hoping for is anker hub that plugs into phone along bottom like yours (lightening) leaving no need external power interface.
Then in USB C in that hub run the other end into an old type D (it’s like square with horizontal corners of top part.
I’m hoping that this would work.

Great video! I just went through the whole USB hub / adapter selection process as I'm new to Apple products (I now have iPhone & iPad pro, but have been an android guy for years) and making music on the iPad pro (which I couldn't really do on my android tablet). I looked at the Ugreen ones among others, but I wanted good passthrough charging, at least 3 USB 3.0 and at least 1 USB C thunderbolt-ish (preferably two: one for external NVME drive and one for my low latency USB C audio interface) as well as audio jack and connection for an external monitor.
In the end, I found Caldigit range of hubs and they make full use of the fact that the single connector out of the iPad pro M1 is Thunderbolt (40gbps). So now I can connect two MIDI controllers, external NVME drive, external monitor, audio interface and any other USB accessories I need when I'm travelling. My audio interface has a low latency USB C connection and so the USB C connector on the hub (10gbps) is used for that as it too is vey low latency. My round trip latency at 192KHz is 3.2ms and I couldn't be happier.....the one downside with the Caldigit hubs is that they are bloody expensive (ten times the cost of ordinary USB C hubs) but I figured that it's the sort of thing I will only buy once and from that perspective, they're worth the money imo. Some of the Caldigit hubs are specifically designed to be compatible with the iPad Pro and it's thunderbolt connector, meaning that you can - theoretically - get full use of the 40gbps throughput from the iPads connector.
It's worth noting that although I'm getting double the speed of the external SATA SSD I tried with it, but nowhere near the 3000MB/s that the external NVME drive is capable of. I've looked into this and the general consensus is that this is an iPad firmware or O/S problem as others have struggled to get full bandwdth out of external drives.
