    I also pull a G.D. 2930. With a 2021 gmc 2500. Was a little over on my rear axle. I put about 60 gallons of fresh water in my tank, and it took some weight off my pin. Fresh water tank is behind the axles.

    No. His CAT Scales receipt said steerer axle was 5200 and rear axle was 6660, so that is 11860 which puts him 510 pounds over his GVWR of his truck. He states that he is 60 pounds over his rear GAWR, and I would guess he is probably also over his front GAWR. Taking the 11860 minus the 9089 dry weight (polus cargo) of his truck minus say 150 for 5th wheel hitch, that leaves a pin weight of the trailer of 2620. 2620 plus trailer axle of 10160, his trailer weighs 12780, which gives a pin weight percentage of 20.5%. He needs a bigger truck.

    Just finalizing a purchase on a Reflection 337. I own a 22 Sierra 2500HD, with the upper trim level, I hav just slightly less payload; however your trailer and the one I’m purchasing have similar specs. It will mostly be just my wife and I camping with our pups, but figuring on probably close to 500lbs for added payload inside of the truck. If we add 800 inside of the camper, closer to the rear axles, we should still have payload to spare; however I’ll be making a trip to the scales to know exactly what I am able to work with.
    I am not sure if you’ve looked in to the Reese Goosebox? We are going to install one on our unit, which although the Goosebox itself weighs more than the standard pin box, we will save around a 100lbs net, without having the rail hookup inside of the bed of the truck.

    If your GVWR for your trailer is 15000 lbs. Then your pin weight is 3000 lbs. (15000 x .20) look it up. If you have a 3000 lbs pin weight. You should consider getting a dually.

    So as i started digging in deeper, i agree. My titan xd cummins is rated as the same as an early 2000, 1 ton. I have owned fords till now and the only difference between my 250 and 350 was the spring packs. On the 250 with plow package, its 350 springs. Next came the power plant, cummins 5.0 conversation. Then i found out they put the lower hp/tq in the tiffin breeze. The xd with the cummins is right at the bottom of a 3/4 truck rating, and because of that, the epa credits is for a half ton not a 3/4 ton. I am thinking these trucks are rated sometimes rated to save credit offsets, specifically on the titan xd. I tow a car hauler not a big camper so i am way under, but started lokking out of curiosity.

      GAWR on all trucks seems pretty much the same from 1500 - 2500.
      They are not putting in bigger base axles, only springs. What a rip off.
      Can you option bigger axles. Dont know because this KEY NUMBER is almost completely hidden everywhere. I found one post that says the 2500 is 60lbs higher GAWR if you believe that.
      Makers hide this number is it is the only real factor in 1500 - 2500 weight values imo.
      So the difference is add ons like bigger engines and springs and manufactures charge biggle bucks fir these uogrades. If you have an unlimited budget go for it but if you are on a limited budget a used truck1500 is fine as long as you are willing to upgrade springs ($100) and increase engine power or drive slow. Im getting a 1500 for my 10,000 Jayco and will add springs and drive slow OR upgrade the engine with a turbo kit. BTW-Diesel trucks usually have LESS weight ratings than gas because of engine weight.

    Your weakest link is the axle weight which is limited by your tire capacity. Upgrade to G rated tires and get some weight off the rear axle and you should be good to go. When its time to upgrade your truck you should consider a dually, A dually is the proper vehicle to tow your 5th wheel.

    2,500 hitch weight, less than 600 left for a 200lb hitch, two adults and animals. Be interested in a re-weigh with the a loaded truck alone to get an accurate hitch weight.

      @TheBuckStop  Год назад

      I agree - the hitch is 150 and we recently lost one of our dogs so sadly we are 100 lbs less there as well - I am curious what the Truck weight is alone loaded up as well but I think I am dam close and feel good about it.

    I don't worry about those sticker numbers all that much here is why. If you go look at the part numbers of the axle, frame, brakes, differential, suspension links all the same part numbers as a 1 ton the same year as my 3/4 ton. The only difference lighter springs installed they adjust the numbers based on the differential gearing. Back in the day when a truck was overloaded you added extra springs. Not saying I would overload by 1000's of lbs. Everyone online claims you get in legal trouble if end up in an accident show me one accident where that was true? Not that one with the guy towing a 50k lb boat with his F350 plowed into bunch of cars. That is not even close to what most people are doing with overloading. There was a picture online of a guy who broke his frame in half with a slide in camper on a Ram 3500 1 ton. He took his numbers from a single cab gas engine to figure out his capacity when you add a 2nd cab and diesel reduced his capacity to 2000 under what his camper weighed. I believe what was more of a problem was how much weight he had behind the rear axle. If lot of his weight was that far back going to cause lot of stress on the frame. He could have had as much as 10k above gross max capacity because of the leverage it was causing.

    Just to let you know I tow a grand design 320g momentum toy hauler with a 2021 chevy 2500hd duramax Allison. As for pin weight i don't know for sure on your rv but on toy haulers from grand design engineer the momentum toy haulers (yes the g class m class and th class) you take 10 to 15 percent of the weight you load in rv and add to the empty pin weight to get a accurate estimate wet pin weight. I think I'm more inclined to listen to the people that designed and engineered the rv instead of the you tube weight police that think they know about weights if you are under fgawr rgawr gvwr and gcvwr trailer axle weight rating and tire weight rating you are good there is no legal binding on payload.

      I have a 2018 Chevy 2500HD duramax allison. And I’m about to buy a 2021 Montana 3855BR gvwr is like 16900 lbs and dry weight 13644. I’m just worried about it not being able to tow. I’m buying air bags after the first tow so that’ll help with the squat but I’m just wondering if it’s technically safe

    Dude!! Your pin weight alone is 3000 lbs. What is the 10:23 cargo capacity of your truck? That includes everything. Pin weight, hitch , full tank of fuel, passengers and cargo. I'll bet your grossly over weight.

    Practically anyone pulling a decent size 5th wheel in a 2500 is over weight with their payload. It seems you are 200 lbs+ over payload. You are not legal. If I were you, I would add Timbrens to minimize (but not eliminate) safety concerns. But, if you get in an accident, and the the lawyers get hold of your stickers, etc., your life is over.
