I like your presentation, clear, understandable and moves at a good pace. Couldn’t help but see the USMC flag on your wall in the video where you rebuild a 8274; Semper Fi; class of 1969 MCRD San Diego
12:38 Cringe! Please, never wind your cable with your hand that close to the winch, mounted or not, under load or not. All it takes is for a glove to get snagged on anything and that very powerful motor will wrap your hand around the spool as well.
as far as the thread cutting...if you are not planning on having to remove it the newly cut threads are less likely to allow the bolts to back out...btw...do you have a link to the new solenoid upgrade, I have an 8274 that needs new solenoids?
I recently did up my old winch which wasn't working, just solenoid clicking. Thinking it was just and earth issue I cleaned and painted it up and it looked great. It still didn't work. I took off the motor casing and found there was continuity between the armature and the gound. Absolutely useless! So as I cannot get a new armature so it's scrap. I don't think it can be repaired now.
Excellent vid, man. Just got an identical (I think) winch for the same price - M8000? Is that what you have there? I didn’t know about the solenoid upgrade, and the wiring it comes with is worth the price for me since my wires are in clear need of replacement. Thanks for posting this.
The planetary gear gear needs to be greased...oh didn't watch far enough...LOL Please always used gloves wear synthetic winch as well, the nylon rope under tension with burn you bad. if it breaks under load and you happen to be near enough to it if it snaps.

What's the part number for that solenoid pack?

where did you get a control pack upgrade for $100??? Best price I see is $175

Some asshole will steal your new rope cable. Trust me
Keep it under tension. That should stop them.
