  • In summer the female of this heat-loving species of Blues lays several eggs on dry plants or through a hole on the underside of an old leaf. The eggs usually overwinter, but sometimes the young caterpillars also overwinter. These are accompanied by ants and like to eat, among other things, crownvetches (Coronilla varia).
    Its scientific name is Polyommatus daphnis (Denis & Schiffermueller 1775). It is a species of butterfly in the family Lycaenidae.
    These videos were created in a natural environment at approx. 720 ft (220 m) above sea level in the southern Waldviertel, Lower Austria, Austria, Central Europe on July 15th, 2021.
