Your video gave me confidence to try this. I got the keyboard off successfully, and I was quite happy, but as I was inspecting things, I snapped the ribbon cable with only minimum force. If anyone tries this, be careful with the ribbon cable. You will have to pop off some very thin metal shielding to disconnect it from the main body of the laptop.
Thank you this video help me a lot , in Thailand to replace the battery alone on this model cost 217 usd. I'm searching for the solution to make it myself and this is the video I needed.
Thank you for the video. I finally opened it and replaced the battery. I did get a slight damage to the alcantara though but manageable. Atleast I have replaced the battery and got it working. Thanks again
Part of my trackpad popped out. I see 2 thin metal attached to it (and dirt). I taped the trackpad down for the moment and it works just fine except I’m unable to “click”. How do I go about this situation to fix the trackpad? Great video!
I’m not sure if you’ve gotten it fixed by now but my guess would be you could’ve accidentally disconnected one of the small ribbon cables or forgot to re-attach them. Particularly the one on the keyboard or maybe the battery if you disconnected it in the first place.
Thank you for the video. When you open up the top keyboard, what can be servicable? Can you replace SSD? RAM? ETC? I was told that all these upgradeable items are solder in the board so that it's not servicable.
Hi! My Surface 1769 has got very stiff hinges, almost impossible to open without brute force. I tried spraying silicone, lithium grease etc...but they only seem to get stiffer. If i open the laotop and clean the hinges, are they still saveable?

Gracias por tu aporte ...Saludos desde México.. !!
Awesome as usual 👍
Great job, thank you for the video, I really enjoy watching your work.
This inspired me to order a new topcase for mine, I didn’t know you could get it apart without ruining it
Where can I order a new topcase?
I own one of these.

Great video!
It would not pop out for no reason. Most-likely your battery is getting swollen and pushing the trackpad up.
My 1st gen surface laptop has a swollen battery
I opened mine to clean the fan because it was failing.. But now it won't turn on anymore. Any ideas why?

The SSD and RAM aren’t serviceable but the battery and anything not soldered onto the board can be replaced.
What would ifixit know, the corporate flunkies :) Thanks Vlad
oh shut up
If I send it to you. Can u repair?
You can contact me at applepietech.com. Thanks!
Is it possible to upgrade the SSD on this model? I have been told no but after watching your video I wonder if it can be done?
Russian using Fahrenheitt over Celsius LOL what are the odds
Not Russian but yea, started microsoldering with default settings on Fahrenheit a while back and got used to it.
@@applepietech 1:46 is why I thought you were Russian.
Yes, I do speak Russian. Thanks for watching my video! :)

You’ll have to try and see, on some laptops you can loosen the bolt to make hinges less stiff, not sure about this surface.
Buy something else . There is no intelligent explanation for the use of glues and tape instead of simple screws .
Most of the electronics are made this way nowadays unfortunately.
