  • Roy Orbison Oh Pretty woman live reaction.Elvis Presley's favourite singer is one of the honors bestowed upon this amazing singer whose life was sadly filled with tragedy.
This song had a new life all over again when it was featured in the movie of the same name,Pretty Woman, starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere.
It is one of the most loved songs ever.
    Enjoy this reaction.

Roy Orbison died in late 1988 when the Traveling Wilburys' first album had recently been released and was enjoying the limelight, and Roy's solo song "You Got It" was charting as his first bona fide hit in many years. A bittersweet ending to a legendary career! Hard to believe that was 32 years ago already...

The concert was called, "Roy Orbison and Friends: A Black and White Night 1988". Wiki says, "Male background vocalists, some of whom also joined in on guitar, were Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther and Steven Soles. The female background vocalists were k.d. lang, Jennifer Warnes and Bonnie Raitt."

      D. J. Fortuna was on drums, he was Elvis' drummer, James Bruton was on lead guitar, he is commonly accepted as the greatest guitarist of all time and was Elvis' lead guitarist. There is actually a fun moment where Burton and Springsteen have a play off in the instrumental, Burton obviously wins, but Bruce does a good job at keeping up. Finally there was also Glen D. Harding who was Piano player for Elvis, Roy, John Denver, Ricky Nelson and did bits with Buddy Holly.

James Burton not only played lead for Elvis, he was also Ricky Nelson's lead guitarist on his early hits, such as "Hello Mary Lou", "It's Late", etc. You can see him in Ricky's videos from that period.

The guitarist in white that you asked about is James Burton, famous session guitar picker. He has many honors, including R & R Hall of Fame in 2001 and #19 on the Rolling Stones list of 100 greatest guitarists. I believe that everyone on that stage that night was famous, (dream team) and it was an occasion to honor Roy Orbison.

I'm hoping nobody else has said this because I've not read all the comments but I think Roy Orbison's talent is not to be underestimated, I like almost all his stuff. The great Elvis Presley himself is said to have been asked "what's it like to be the greatest singer in the world?" to which he said "I don't know, you'll have to ask Roy Orbison."
My favourite song from him is probably "Running Scared", especially the last line.
