About 10 days ago I went to the shoppe and picked up my 3rd pair of John Lobb’s. Great video, it captures the shoppe the best a video can. It’s a delightful experience, thank you for sharing this so others can get a feel of what going there is like.
My brother, who retired in 1998 having been with the Company for 48 years, was a shoemaker with John Lobb. So looking forward to the video showing the work of a bespoke shoemaker.
The allure of John Lobb bespoke shoes is unmatched! The quality of the leathers, the discreet overall styling, the distinct cuban heel, the history of the brand etc…
Kirby; it looks like you’re in a pilgrimage to the sacred places of bespoke craftsmanship. At the same time your content is a source of honest approach of English and American lifestyle. And even though it could seem that it’s just hedonistic, in my view it’s an effort to bring this stuff to the “people”. Thanks again Kirby for your intent to show what time ago was just behind the scenes…
@@blackwood3243 In Spanish, I'd use the word "reloj" to mean watch and clock, and the word for "on" a wall is "en", which also means "in". I think this person's comment was poorly translated, which is infuriating.
My great grandpa was a cobbler, I started making shoes as a hobby because of Kirby’s videos as well as that familial connection to the craft. But it really was Kirby’s videos that got me interested. I went down the rabbit hole with the full traditional method.. it takes a lot of tools and hunting around for hard to find materials. I love every part of it, from making the resin/beeswax/tallow balls that coat the handmade welting thread, to using all the irons and finishing steps to get a glassy heel stack. I’m still an amateur but I’m well on my way to cladding my whole family in bespoke fitted shoes. It truly is fulfilling, and all too rare these days! Cheers Kirby!
@@kirbyallison thanks Kirby! It certainly connects me with the past in a special way. Maybe in the near future I’ll have some superior lasts made by Lobb, for the whole family. Definitely looking forward to the next episode in the series.
Fascinating. Kids should spend a day learning how a true artist tradesman applies their craft. We dont have an appreciation for how things are made anymore. We take everything for granted. I feel like a gained something valuable from watching this process.
I just ran into this guy while at a trampoline park! He is a true gentleman and is just as nice in person as he is in his videos. And for those of you who are wondering - yes, he was still in formal dress attire 😅
Great video Kirby. In this video the collar of your coat appears quite low at the back of your neck. Is the balance out? Lobb - they are the holy grail of bespoke shoes. Master craftsmanship at its finest!
@@kirbyallisonKirby is excited. No one has ever had this privilege before to be able to film and interview the entire John Lobb process. I understand why they are slowly getting irritated because their routine is being interrupted for an extensive, long drawn out interview, but they agreed to it. So while it's happening, be as detailed as possible so every viewer can understand. Even the ones who are watching for the 1st time. Even though we may know all of these steps, some parts of their process are new to us all. I think he's creating great content of an historic moment in time.
I think some of you are missing the whole point of an "interview". He's drawing out the detail of each step, which is what you want from a great interview and leading the conversation to deliver the content. I don't understand why people are always going to effort to be so critical and negative on social media. If you don't like the content, don't watch it and don't subscribe but let's leave the negativity, cyber bullying and unconstructive feedback behind or in the playground

Just out of curiosity, does anybody know the difference between iron and ounces when it comes to the weight of leather? Meaning, would a 5 oz leather also be a 5 iron leather? Or is there a conversion between the two?
It is a shame that Mr Lobb interfreard, with the Rough Stuff Guy. Having worked for Hermes, i believe john.lobb is partly owned by the Hermes Company. You see the quality and tradition in Hermes as well. Fantastic stuff, if you have the funds to purchase. Best shoes in the world
Yes. This is John Lobb, the original which is still run by the Lobb family members and exclusively makes only bespoke shoes. In the 1990’s, the family sold their Parisian workshop to Hermes and allowed them to use their name under a licensing agreement. John Lobb Paris now makes Goodyear welted shoes in Northampton and bespoke shoes out of Paris.
Kirby, I never knew I had an interest in tradition until I came across your channel, thank you for opening up a whole new world to me.
I am genuinely impressed every time Lobb explains something. He really seems like a special person.
They are true masters of their craft.
Kirby I love your videos but Italians do make great suites and shoes like the British.
This is bespoke content
Kirby is always a joy and pleasure to watch. Mr. Lobb is a shoemaker beyond compare.

Even the Watch in the wall, in the background it’s pure class.
Everything about John Lobb is a museum of quality, craftsmanship, and tradition.
It's a clock, friend. A watch is something you carry on your person.

Kirby calling rubber “synthetic” and Johnathon Lobb and the shoemaker (don’t recall his name) being nice enough to not correct him, that’s class.
The videography is on par with National Geographic series

Sartoria Gallo, I think?

Yeah, its the stiffener for the toe area
