To be honest, it's about the only one I've seen on youtube. Very easy to follow and understand though so I'm now off to buy some of that magic elixir 👍
I did it I did exactly as you instructed & lo behold I recovered 2 of my wonderful leather purses.....I'm sooo thrilled & frankly very pleased with the outcome.....so thank you very much 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
A lost art! I'm happy to announce I just moisturized my Ralph Lauren hiking boots, which I hadn't worn in a couple years, and were noticeably hard and dry. It was either my parents or my ex-husband who taught me that leather needs to be cared for, and I'm glad I learned that somewhere along the way. I hope my classic, leather, lace-up hiking boots will last me a long time, I've already had them at least 8 years. I'll remember to moisturize them at least once a year.
@@CredibleHulk10 What I mean was that many young people these days wouldn't know about moisturizing leather, would just throw the boots away and buy new ones. Maintaining your belongings instead of replacing them seems to be an old world thing to do. Back when products were made to last.
Yes ,its helpful sometimes to dust and wipe down the bag and if its very old then maybe a warm damp cloth could be used in some circumstances however we dont really use any other cleaning products. Thanks
I find it funny how I grew up and constantly heard "Leather products can last you a life time". Yet not a single person ever told me that I need to care for them. My poor leather boots... But at least my bag will actually last 🤣😅
"Go give yer bag a drink" very good advice and something I must do! Thanks for a great informative video. Pleasing accent and tone of voice (where in England are you from?).
Hello, what do you think about using tan shoe polish, or mink oil, or wax dubbing for polishing a leather briefcase? I have a briefcase which is 20 years old and I'd like it buffed up. Thanks.
Any tips for cleaning leather (in general / if there are stains) prior to conditioning/care products? Just (a little) water (it's smooth leather in my case) or can you use some sort of mild cleaning agent? (I've seen recommendations online of water with a bit of vinegar (or even a 1:1 solution) - and moist not wet cloth)
Hi, when it comes to cleaning it really depends on the nature of the stains, type of leather and overall general age. Our leather care is more of a nourisher than a cleaner.
Hi, it should be quite an intuitive process however we feel you cant really over do it but you totally can under do it... If your bag gets wet let it dry out naturally then give it a drink etc 👍
hey I was wondering if the color of the leather would play any role in this.. does the conditioner in the video using an all around cream that can be applied to any tone of leather??
The colour is not really the issue, the lighter the leather the darker it will go temporarily. I think the main question is type of leather. Our leather care is best suited for all veg tan leathers. Ta
Hi, Firstly Dubbin is primarily a waterproofing wax, so whilst it will work, it may not be the best at nourishing the leather. Secondly, we only repair our own leather goods as we are particularly busy with orders at the moment. Thank you for your comment :)
Yes ,it cant do any harm . It will darken it temporarily and depending on the goat skin it will probaly take quite alot. If your trying to waterproof your jacket this wont exactly do it just kind of nourishing it instead and stopping it drying out. Ta
Hi Jan, that really depends on the state of the leather but it cant really do harm but would absorb alot more . Alot of our soft hide bags are lined with s suede so we wouldnt do that but sometimes to our saddle hide bags that have been neglected. Thanks
It might just show up a minor imperfection however it could restore back to its normal colour and then moving forwards dont over treat that area. Im also not familar with that leather balm so cant guarantee 100%. Careful using alcohol as it will strip away any natural surface or finish. I would let it come back 🤞 feel free to send pictures 👍
Would you agree, the claim that many leather goods manufacturers now claim that neatsfoot oil, over time, degrades leather and stitching? And what do you think about snoseal on leather goods?
Thanks for your comment Andrew, im not sure i do agree as it depends what leather your using however using any 100% pure oils could have an effect on such things. We also use a blend fat, wax, oil so its softer on the leather, stitching etc. I always use 100% oils with caution . Sno seal on Boots and certain leather goods eg proper outdooor all weather Yes however this is designed to built up layers so i wouldnt recommend on our goods as it contains alcohols.
How is this guy not insanely popular? This is one of the best videos on leather care I’ve seen!

Agree

After watching you, I jumped up to condition my bag... I don't have what you use... But it looks great...

I see you are a great craftsman- fantastic.
Thanks 👍
Amazing video - thank you. I'm learning how to care for my leather handbag. Does it need the Sedgwick and a waterproofer?
Very helpful video! Do you clean/ wash bags before applying the conditioner?
Yes ,its helpful sometimes to dust and wipe down the bag and if its very old then maybe a warm damp cloth could be used in some circumstances however we dont really use any other cleaning products. Thanks
terrific video thanks much, question - what do you think of lanolin to moisturize veg tanned leather - does it clog the pores ?
Excellent advice.
Thank you, we're glad you found it helpful!
Going to purchase the conditioner now!!
Thank you
Great video
Can you make a video how to clean and restore( eventually paint) a cowhide leather (pony hair) bag? Could be paint?
I find it funny how I grew up and constantly heard "Leather products can last you a life time". Yet not a single person ever told me that I need to care for them. My poor leather boots... But at least my bag will actually last 🤣😅
Solid solid video 💪🏽
Is this a product you’d use on a near new bag to protect it, or is this aimed mainly at restoration?
Just placed an order. Looking forward to giving it a try.
How did you place order
Due ro popular demand we did run out however we are now fully stocked. See our website. Ps the labels have changed but not the product 👍
Is there any difference between the leather care product of this from leather care products for shoes?
The first one could be any leather balsam? Some people use even Vaseline!
Thanks for your comment. We would personally use the best on our products.
Thanks a lot for this video, i’m trying to clean my leather bag. Greetings from Mexico
i have seen you and your in my city!
Great , thanks 😊

Such an informative video 🔥🔥🔥
But does this protect your bag from minor water exposure?
How to protect the bag from that too?
Context:
I have a full grain buffalo leather duffle bag.
Yes it does !
Would you advise applying olive oil as a conditioner on leather bags?
That really depends on leather type so i couldn't really recommend. Our spanish leather is finished with oils 👍
Olive oil will go rancid. U don't want to use olive oil or any cooking oils.
Mink oil is the best.

Thanks.
Withouth inowing or seeing the leather its difficult to advise. Try it on a small area first and see if you like the results. Thanks
Hi. Why do you not use a horsehair brush to polish the bag?
i am leather bag maker i like your work

Nice video and bag .. i want that bag friend ..from where can I buy it ...
Hi, thanks for your comment. Thats our Rucksack . You can see and order them on our website . We do have a lead time of around 10-14wks . Best wishes
Brilliant !!
Thanks 😊
Some hand sanitizer spilled on my black leather bag and it's discolored now.. will this help?
This feeds rather than cleans so i cant really advise.
Is this method go for Florentine leather?
How often should we do the process ?
Hi, it should be quite an intuitive process however we feel you cant really over do it but you totally can under do it...
If your bag gets wet let it dry out naturally then give it a drink etc
👍
Fantastic!
Thank you 😊
No mink oil? The wax that you use, will it darkened the product?
Ours has neats foot and it will darken temporarily and then it will return to its origanl colour.
hey I was wondering if the color of the leather would play any role in this.. does the conditioner in the video using an all around cream that can be applied to any tone of leather??

Do you recommend waterproofing on a new bag?
Absolutely, you cant over do it !
Hi, 2 QUESTIONS PLEASE. 1. WILL DUBBIN WORK AS GOOD? 2. DO TO REPAIR LEATHER AS A BUSINESS? IF SO HAVE YOU GOT CONTACT INFORMATION PLEASE.
Hi, Firstly Dubbin is primarily a waterproofing wax, so whilst it will work, it may not be the best at nourishing the leather. Secondly, we only repair our own leather goods as we are particularly busy with orders at the moment. Thank you for your comment :)
Would you recommend using the same thing for goatskin leather coat?
Yes ,it cant do any harm . It will darken it temporarily and depending on the goat skin it will probaly take quite alot. If your trying to waterproof your jacket this wont exactly do it just kind of nourishing it instead and stopping it drying out.

Oh my what a mind blowing video & you sir you .... such dedication & love for leather oh amazing
Interesting, the word ,,rucksack" is a German word, used normally for back packs in Germany.
My main concern is darkening the leather. I rather it maintain its honey tan colour.
The colour will return however nourished 👍 and able to live longer
How about the rough side of the leather inside the bag?
Hi Jan, that really depends on the state of the leather but it cant really do harm but would absorb alot more . Alot of our soft hide bags are lined with s suede so we wouldnt do that but sometimes to our saddle hide bags that have been neglected. Thanks
What to do it the leather is already quartz hard?
Depending on leather type really however you can give it several feeds?
What about the inside of the bag?
As our bags are lined in suede we wouldn't really recommend much as its quite porous however maybe celatape might work to pick up dirt or fluff 😉
I over condition my tan bag and now there is a spot there. How do I get rid of the spot?
Hi, what conditioner have you used? Also this might just highlight an imperfection already in the leather?? Time might restore it.....
@@MackenzieLeatherEdinburgh ok I used alcohol to lightly dap the area. Not sure if it will ever come back to original
